What Is Meditation?

- There are many different forms and approaches to meditation, and they range in purpose from seeking to simply improve health and wellbeing to becoming more effective and capable in life to making possible better quality relationships to spiritual growth, development and awakening.
In this video, I explain meditation within the context of spirituality, and also caution against approaches to meditation that are incongruent with its ultimate and noblest goal, to come to know one's Lord and Creator.
What is meditation? In its most basic, essential and fundamental form, it is nothing other than pure surrender through relaxation and simply being with your breath. It is learning to let go, relax and relinquish resistance so as to surrender and submit the self, and thereby awaken to a greater possibility of consciousness.

Salaam brother... I love how you distinguish the two different ways of meditation: The one that most promote that seeks other things than God, and the type that seeks absolute Taqwa.. This is very important to be aware of.
I watched your old videos on this topic and thought how I'd love to see more on the topic. Next day you uploaded this video. MashAllah. Thank you so much, you are being a great guide and source of knowledge for me.

What a beautiful clarity about Meditation!
Right on brother Ihsane! Thank you for sharing this very important message, so very well conveyed.
1) Before the prophet came, was written on the front of Delphes' temple : " Know yourself, so you shall know the univers and its gods" This is an eternal universal truth that the spiritual journey begins by knowing yourself. 2) The BREATH ( on which we focus while meditating) is our basic primal need for survival. It is the first necessary fonction for living organisms to exist. So BREATH puts you in touch with your deepest vital processes ( reptilian fonctions). Also, as BREATH is the only vital activity that can be CONSCIOUS (volontary) or UNCONSCIOUS (automatic), it is a pathway between these 2 psychological domains.
So grateful! Ya shakur! I send it to friends. And so nicely explained - love the beginning on newage gurus, another topic inshallah needs a bit more attention(maybe another time inshallah); Thank you shukran//love

it is great to find you brother I is what I want
Well, focus on visualization together with breathing can enhance the emptying of mind because using the visual cortex occupies the “monkey” mind more than focusing on breath alone. What is visualized is irrelevant. Try it sometime. For example, just look at your hand while focusing on breath.
This brings so much peace to my heart 🙏🏻God Almighty bless you dear brother! I was praying to get another precious video 🙏🏻HamduliAllah! Brother Ihsan I sometimes find it hard to sit in meditation because my heart gets overwhealmed with shyness and the feeling of unworthiness.... I feel that 😔 I’m a hypocrite wanting to get close to Allah.. I feel unworthy to sit at His door 😔 any advice to let go of these feelings?
Nadia Andreea Sălașul Meu Remember who Allah the Almighty is & what He wants from you. Do Dhikr with your Soul and Heart while Meditation and After and befor Meditation. Never forget Allah so He will Clean your Full Heart, Soul and Person.
I Hope u understand and that I could help you. Any other question?
Assalamu Aleykum
Dear sister Nadia, remember that Allah Almighty is of unlimited love, mercy and compassion. We have been taught throughout the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ that even if we tire of asking for forgiveness, He Almighty will not tire of forgiving. I recommend using the suggestions in Week 2 of the Islamic Meditation Program and every night before sleeping, remember and affirm the truth to begin rewiring the mind in alignment with God's will. May His light and mercy be with you always.
Ihsan Alexander dear brother Ihsan, thank you for taking the time to respond. JazakAllah khayran. I am benefitting immensely from your advice🙏🏻 May Allah reward you and your family amen.
magochiller JazakAllah khayran. Thank you for your kind words. May Allah bless you eternally.

As i am the first to comment on your video : i hope to catch your attention and i shall repeat a question (not answered) already asked on a previous video of yours :" WOULD YOU AGREE if i produce a TRANSLATED FRENCH VERSION OF YOUR VIDEOS ? " ( because : subtitle automatic utube translation is very bad and i would like to make the muslim sufi sage voice comprehensible to the French muslims who don't understand English language. For the confort of the listeners, i would like to correct the automatic translation (when available), then to record a French voice ( me or robot) reading it, that will be put over your images & voice. Please let me know what you think of the idea . Of course, i shall do it for free, and i shall keep the resulting video clean from advertising or monatizing.
1sanremy Sunnism is only real way Brother/Sister. Remember the Sunnah Prayer.
But Im sure he would agree that you Translate this Video for Muslims. May Allah protect us all Allahumma Amiiin
@@magochiller Thanx for your message. I hope one day Mr ALEXANDER will give me his agreement.
Salaam, peace be with you. Yes, this could be very helpful, please send me a direct message via the contact form on our site so we can discuss further, www.spiritualexcellence.com/contact. Hope to connect soon.
Salam. Have you succeeded?
God created us as the intelligent ashraful makhluquat to realize Him. To do that, we must maintain our entity ( 'I', 'self') & worship Him.
If we dissolve that 'self', how can we worship Him? Could you do that? Have you seen anybody, who could do that? Did Mohammed(s) do this? Did sahabas do that?
Instead, we should look at the consciousness of God always & praise Him always.
We should be good persons in reality & achieve "nafse muthmynna", gain Godly attributes. This is Sufism. It is for Muslim intellectuals & very pious Muslims.
Hey are you liberated?
And dont play with words you know what im asking
@@Sufi_Alchemy how can u say
@@nashymalik5509 so now you are saying you are enlightened
abc def anyone who is in the process of purifying the nafs is being liberated because the nafs (”soul”) nature is to be free; why our ancestors from ancient egypt painted the soul as a bird (Ba), because it wants to fly freely and ascend to the skies. Ihsan has undergone this journey studying under mawlana sheikh Nazim. All Sufis undergo liberation of the self, why we get into trouble with the conservative and dogmatic ones.
@@Sufi_Alchemy look i understand how the question i asked is laden with implicit contradictions, and deep spiritual terms are diffucult to use appropriately, the language game can be played endlessly. But the fact that a pir is a pir and a mureed is a mureed implies that a difference, however subtle - does exist. so not everyone whos decided to tread the path to god has reached him, everybody has in some fundamental realm, but not in the dimension we are conversing in.
