In this video, Ihsan discusses the Two Dimensions of Islam, and explains one of the most significant mistakes we make as Muslims. You will also learn what exactly led to the fall of Iblish, Shaytan, and how you can avoid the hidden shirk, the unconscious idolatry that the Prophet Muhammad (saws) feared most for his nation.
Additionally, Ihsan discusses the essential place of Tasawwuf (Sufism), also known as Tazkiyyat an-Nafs or 'Ilm ul-Ihsan, in the religion of Islam.

Jazakullah khair this resonated with me so much. I have been a "practicing muslim" for years and only within the last two noticed my heart was dead. Only now am I realizing that I never surrendered my heart or ego to Allah only my body and my actions.

+Jarret Jeffery Wa iyyakum, may Allah Almighty send more light and life to your heart and soul. Like all things, the heart and soul, your spirit, must be nourished. The food and sustenance of the spirit is spirituality, and the best spiritual practice for awakening and purifying the heart is dhikr and meditation.
The Islamic Meditation Program is an excellent place to start.

May the creator of the Heaven and the Earth bless you in this world and in the next ! You have done a wonderful job for our society! I couldn't believe when I heard this lecture! I can absolutely relate to this topic. When I turn to my Lord the creator of the Heaven and Earth I was 20 years old I was so happy to come back all I want to do is pray ,fast extra, prayers, night prayer do all the external worship for over 10-15 years! I want the same thing for everyone I thought that's all about Islam. Have never knew the internal part.I was in that way but I have never experienced peace in my life! Although ,I was the happiest, excited, energetic ,a good Muslim from the Out World but I was miserable inside. I could not sit with myself for 10 minutes. Always I have to do something or be with someone . Today, I pray my Basics day today prayer. I fast once a year and extra fasting when I can. But I'm the happiest person inside. I could sit with myself forever thank you! my life has change once and for all. I hope this will elaborate the topic.

man you just gave me a peace of mind, and more confirmation to the revelations that god has shown me, when i first started meditation, not knowing all these things you were talking about, i always knew something is more, this life is more than what it seems and there is more, and when i started getting into spirituality and life and buddhism medation and yoga and kundalini meditation and all those things, i thought " i am muslim, and i believe only in the quran and in god, so there has to be a way that all these beautiful meditations and the beautiful enlightenment that they bring to me, has to be connected to islam in some way, since they are all a part of the truth, there has to be the whole truth... and that is islam meditation, so i started meditating with the intention of ALLAH / GOD, in my mind, the intention of understanding why god created me, and i came to the realization of peace and revelations that god showed me in visions during my meditation, and in "remembering, tazakkor " of old evens that occurred to me when i was a bit younger, including an event where i was sleeping conscious, and for a short moment without realizing ( i was young and ddnt know about all these things ) an angel came and stood above me, i was sleeping on my back straight position arms and legs downwards, the angel literally LIFTED ME up and i could feel my wholeeeee body shivering and moving upwards, with a BURST AND HUGEEEEEEE BLISSFUL FEELING AND BEAUTIFUL SENSATION OF PEACE AND WARMTH and loveeeee ...
years later i forgotten that, and now(about 6 months ago) that i got more into meditation and i changed my life,, and NOW i checked the other video on the four forms of meditation, and brother... you are true and amazing.. and couldnt agree with you more..
during my meditation journey i realized that worshiping god and praying to god
    is done in 4 aspects
    - physical praying= and the "salat" itself, kneeling down, chanting the quran, helping others, taking care of your body, exercising properly, doing yoga while chanting gods name and verses of the quran etc etc
    - emotional praying = to feel "khouchou" which is the humility and the humbleness and the literal KNEELING before god and his power to feel love, to feel peace, to feel joy and positive energy etc etc.
    - intellectual praying is when you use your mind and your brains to connect the universe and god together, it is when you use your god given talent and brain, for the benefit of mankind and the earth , it is when you gain knowledge and search for the truth, and ponder upon the creations and stuff
    - and the ultimate highest form of praying , the spiritual praying, which is nonother than meditation connecting yourself to god approaching him, understanding oneself, and connecting yourself to yourself and the universe and FEEL god and KNOW god through this silent meditation, muhammad said " the greatest jihad, is to battle your own soul to fight the evil within yourself" and that is pure meditation
and now youve confirmed all those revelations that god has shown me..

+Jad Hajali Masha'llah, beautiful light, knowledge and inspiration. The blessed Messenger ﷺ himself meditated for long periods in complete silence, stillness and surrender in the Cave of Hira upon Jabal Nur, the Mountain of Light, just prior to receiving revelation. We must follow his example to receive light and truth in our own hearts, and for Islam to be real rather than just conceptual, theoretical, intellectual. May Allah Almighty guide and bless, to your divine success. www.ihsanalexander.com.

Excellent, well said. Once "Muslims" stop identifying with Islam and actually practice it, follow it to its ultimate conclusion, not only will we move beyond arrogant self-righteousness, but we will indeed exemplify and make available an incredible path of human excellence and nobility, opening the door wide for the world to see what Islam truly is, and they will enter the religion of Allah in droves. Do not simply be a "Muslim", but be a Muslim. One who is in a state of Islam. Peace! - Ihsan

I've been feeling a magnetic pull towards Islam and have been wanting to convert. I am a very spiritual person, right now I practice Hebrew Qabalah. I love the spiritual aspect of it, but there is religious structure that is lacking. A unity, a oneness.
But more and more I see most prominent scholars speak out against sufism. I'm worried I'll get into a religion only to find that I'm even more alone; that no one will share the same spiritual values of Unity and ego dissolution that I value highly.

    • @spiritualexcellence

Greetings of divine peace and light Bradley Holden, there is an element within the Muslim Community that has lost its spiritual connection as a result of ignorance and lack of education in the modern world, however, thankfully this is quickly changing and increasingly the Community is rediscovering the vital necessity of Sufism, or Islamic Spirituality, and that there can be no reality to religion otherwise. Increasingly, centers are opening throughout the world where dhikr and Islamic Meditation are taking place, and classical, traditional scholars are again rising to the forefront.
I recommend the video, What is Sufism, if you have not yet seen it.

      Bradley,
I shared your same concerns when I came into the Islamic path. I found that the universal sufis lacked an authentic connection to Islam, while the fundamentalists lacked the spiritual essence, making it difficult to find teachings about the unification of both internal and external realities. I pray that your journey along the Islamic path is blessed and fruitful and message me if you ever want to discuss the issues you brought up. Salam alekum warahmat Allah.

Certainly, yet the question each must ask is, what is my goal? Each path leads to a different point in the journey. In Islam, the goal is awakening in the Divine Presence of God, and this is affirmed at least five times daily when a Muslim prays in the direction of the Ka'ba, remembering that the goal is God, transcendence, evolution and eternal progress in gnosis.

Success comes from Allah, and the decline of Islamic civilization is one of spiritual decay. The forms were maintained, but the essence lost, and so a return to sincerity and purity of practice is the key to a new Golden Age.

Salamu alaikum, brother Ihsan! I enjoyed listening to your lecture on the esoteric exoteric dimensions of Islam.
Don't you think that Iblis' refusal to prostrate before Adma (alaihi salam) is an expression of his deepest conviction that he should prostrate to no other but Allah (subhanahu wa taala)?

No, this is not the case. Satan disobeyed Allah. He was kicked out because of his rudeness.

Astaghifrullah! Islam is the only deen that will be accepted. This is something that every Muslim knows, or should know. He who reads your comment and says to Allah Mighty and Majestic "he told me it was a legitimate path and did not show me the truth when I asked" will have you to point to for misleading them.
