I wasn’t familiar with this song. It’s beautiful. The harmonies are spectacular. There’s no one like the Everlys. Never was, never will be. They were unique and I’m glad my life has been graced by their music.
The most beautiful voices! And, no two people can ever harmonize as these two did! It is sad what the music industry happens to bands and brothers. But, it is a rough toll on them....Hence so many breakups before they should have. They sound like one, how can two young men sound soooo sweet and beautiful?
This was played at my Dad's funeral...he always loved the Everly Brothers and had quite a few of their original vinyl albums that I remember playing as a kid. My Mum and Sister chose this song. I'd heard loads of Everly Brothers' songs over the years but I wasn't really familiar with this one. It really is a beautiful song...whenever I hear it, it brings back so many memories.
Such a beautiful ❤touching and heartfelt rendition of an exceptional piece of music, that turned into the most ❤melodic, soulful, yet sad, heartbreaking, and tear jerking, masterpiece of work, I have ever 😢listened to. “Oh So Many Years “, cannot , find words to describe, how it made me feel, so many 🖤 emotions , it invoked, In my poor humble heart 💝 and soul. And no Ever Green, will never grow old!! Those exquisite heavenly harmonies, delivered by those very young boys, so professionally,, incredible, really incredible! But of course they had “ a master” as their mentor,………their 🥇 wonderful 👨 father, Ike Everly. That wonderful song, and many more like it, was taught to Phil and Don, many years ago, and they studied, practiced, and learned them, till they were word and pitch perfect,………one voice, not two, …… one voice!!And many years after, (I believe ), all those beautiful old songs, were put together, and made into an album, titled “Songs Our Daddy Taught Us “. It was presented, (I believe) ,to Phil Everly, some time in 2014, not long before his untimely death, from the dreadful condition,,COPD., age 76 years, due to a lifetime of smoking. So sad, so so sad.I had never heard “Oh So Many Years “ until during COVID, and I was transported “ heavenwards “.Forever in my heart 💜 and mind ❤. Such legacies, such memories , bestowed upon this world, should be so treasured, and will never ever be to forgotten.. Thank you to Ike Everly,Mother Everly, to the two , most handsome young men on this planet 🌍, ever to grace any stage in this world,,, unrivalled in your talents, thank you for all the wonderful music,ye were dearly loved, respected and admired, thank you 🙏 from the bottom of my 💜 heart, and from a sometimes, thoughtless, and ungrateful R,I ,P Don and Phil. 🏳️⚧️🇧🇸🇧🇬🐒🐦🦇🦅🐌🐺🐒📡⛓️🔧🪚🪙🔌🔧🔩🔌⏱️🔧🛠️🔫💡🪫Forgive the accidental symbols. Molly O’ Connell. Ireland.❤
I obtained this song on tape almost 40 years ago for $2 in a close-out bin at K-Mart. I was having girlfriend problems at the time. It was appropriate. Then I understood what Paul McCartney and Keith Richards were talking about when they spoke in reverential tones about the Everlys.
Just a guitar and harmonizing voices. Thank you for posting. No one ever harmonized like the Everlys. So sad that there is not harmony in the so called music of today.
This song by The Every Brothers evokes memories one would love to forget, but not easy. I love this song deep into my soul. I know the reason why, but can't go back there. Thank you, The Everly Brothers!
Mmm I have just kept on loving my special gentleman for year's and I will keep on loving you for many more year's to come and beyond with no shame or guilt even with all my tears cause love is a beacon and it just keeps shinning brighter than ever day after day my love will always be yours mmmwha
BEAUTIFUL ! This song is so moving that it nearly makes me cry. I lost my wife of 40 years and it drove me into depression. We loved and cared for so many years and it hurts when she left me.. the pain is still lingering..
Wayne Bennett , thank you so much. I cried a little when I read your comment. how kind of you to spare such an encouraging words, it really ease the pain....
You are a blessed man to have had a loving wife for so many years....so many people never find such love & devotion. You only feel this pain & depression simply because of how great that love was. So, would you really wish it felt any different?
Mike Talbat so sorry for your loss , I understand my darling husband of 32 years died 6 years ago still miss him and my dear sister died two months before , that was a hard year. the everly brothers music helped me through it , as I'm sure and hope their music will do the same for you . all the best to you
@Mike Talbat: I am truly sorry for your loss especially after 40 years of love. I divorced after many years and thought I would never find anyone, but I did. I'm grateful that I finally experienced what true love was. He died In April after our 4 and a half years together; I think about and miss him every day.
Thank you for posting this beautiful song with incomparable harmony by the best duo ever. Sad that harmony like this does not exist in today's so called music.
The two most beautiful, handsome, gorgeous men and voices on the planet ,l love Phil and Don with all my heart and listen to them every day .Their voices are so pure and they can make any song sound divine .Phil beautiful awesome voice comes through so pure and gentle ,and what wonderful true gentleman and very modest guys they are . I will see you with the angels Phil and love and hold you for ever l love you now always and for ever ,in my heart always .Devoted To You , Let It Be Me .broken hearted . Paula . XXX .
The Everlys influenced so many people, The Beatles and The Hollies being just two examples. But no one could harmonise the way they did. Being of the same blood was obviously an important factor; their voices were similar and they had total empathy and understanding with and of each other. They were the best.
Certainly left us with lots of memories and a legacy of their beautiful music & voices so smooth, Loved them for ever. thanks for posting that song. It's so beautiful..

+belovia50 Hello, Belovia! So glad you stopped by to listen to this one. All the best to you!
Jim
The G string is actually a smaller string, probably a 1st string or lighter gauge, tuned an octave higher. It fit the song perfectly.
No more beautiful harmony anymore that's sad
But what a wonderful music legacy they have left us. Thanks so much for listening.
Jim
Certainly left us with lots of memories and a legacy of their beautiful music & voices so smooth, Loved them for ever. thanks for posting that song. It's so beautiful..
