  • Its been over 3 years since I installed the larger GMT900 front brakes on my 2004 Tahoe! So today I'm going to tackle a much needed brake job as I share my final thoughts on this budget brake upgrade.

    Always good to compare prices. Sometimes the shipping cost for rock auto will push the price high enough to where it makes more sense to buy your parts locally.

    My 05 Yukon has really liked the gmt900 swap. Powerstop geomet rotors and akebo o pads have been good for 4-5 years already and rotors still look new. Also got the red powder coated brackets and calipers from them when they were stupid cheap one time $125 for the pair (brackets and rotors both sides, no core charge)

    I just did Powerstop Z-36 on my 2010 Cadillac Escalade ESV. that big girl stops so hard I actually completely unloaded the rear suspension on a test emergency stop. It is the large Z36 extreme towing Kit. I'll never regret the replacement. Powerstops are proven winners in my garage.

    I could be wrong but I would imagine the hydroboost is more powerful than a standard booster?
    If that's the case it could just be a worn out /seeping unit. They can be rebuilt or I know newer Duramax Hydroboost models fit Tahiti with minor mods.

  • @dosgos
    @dosgos Před měsícem +1

    Astra e-brake cable tends to rust out, locking rear brakes. The cable is cheap. We put some zip ties at the back to try to reduce water ingress.
    The cable end is facing upwards, so water just seems to drip inside.
    EDIT - didn't hear that your problem was front pads lol.

  • @Munky332
    @Munky332 Před měsícem

    Do you have stock torsion bar keys, or did you put the "leveling" keys in? I have an 04 avalanche with 185k on it, Need to do the entire front (one of the bearings is toast, other side axle needs a swap, prob needs some ball joints done, bushings, prob need body mount bushings...) -- was thinking of adding a basic leveling key in to help lift the front just a tad, one side lift key is already maxed out.
    also just sent the gauge cluster out to get repaired. Giong through your whole playlist now. I've got quite a bit of rust in the typical GM spots so I'm going to be repairing that at some point too probably.
