I don't like the integrated drive, very hard to get the flex shaft out for maintaining. Will probably put a standard set up in with a 40 size motor .

    I couldnt decide whether or not to get the normal or self righting version of the Pursuit. Since it will be my first RC boat I went with the self righting version. The one I have ordered comes with trim tabs so hopefully it will run smoother than yours. My plan is to put a TP 3640 1570KV motor in there and to run it on 4 & 5s with a larger prop (43 or 45mm). The longer motor can should generate more torque to make this possible without causing any heat issues.... Unfortunately the integrated drive system will limit me to 36mm x 74mm motors (TFL recommend 36mm x 60mm but I have read in forums that 74mm is also OK) so getting this to hit 80kph will be tricky.

    Nice boat. For my first boat, I debated between this one, and the SonicWake. Seeing this porpoise all over the place, I'm glad I went with the SonicWake. That's not too say I didn't still want a Pursuit...my carbon fiber Pursuit should be delivered before the end of this coming week. Speaking of the porpoising...if this were a typical boat, with trim tabs & turn fins, how would you "correct" that (assuming the battery was already moved forward/backward, in an attempt to correct it)?
    As for this Pursuit...in what appears to be "typical TFL", I noticed that the water cooling tubes for the motor are connected backwards. The 'low', which should be the "inlet", is connected as the "outlet"...and, the 'high', which should be the "outlet", is connected as the "inlet".

      Correct on the cooling tubes. They should be changed. I ran it right out of the box only adding the servo and radio. To eliminate or help porposing lower stinger angle and lower trim tabs if equipped with them.

      @@MrMad2424 I currently own only two TFL boats (CF Pursuit, and their new Jet Boat), but I've also seen other TFL boats (in-person, and in videos), and it seems like TFL is ALWAYS connecting the motor's water lines backwards...I haven't seen a single one connected correctly. Maybe they think, because they're on the "other side" of the International Date Line, they can connect them backwards?

    • @trinhquy
      @trinhquy Před 3 lety +1

      Well, that motor cooling ring holes are bi-directional. TFL connects it correct to allow water flow easier which is from high to low inside the ring you genius.

    • @trinhquy
      @trinhquy Před 3 lety

      And when the boat move at high speed, connect it TFL way adds more pressure to push water out even easier and hence cool even better.

    • @robbryan3044
      @robbryan3044 Před 3 lety

      @@trinhquy Incorrect. First, "pressure" will be the same, no matter which way it's connected...basic physics proves that. Second...and more importantly...heat rises, including warmer water - warmer water is ALWAYS higher than cooler water - thus, by introducing the already-warm water having come from the ESC, and placing it into the motor's coming jacket, you're pushing out the 'cooler' water, and allowing the 'warmer' water to remain inside the jacket. If you look at a car/truck radiator...the "heart" of a vehicle's coming system...you NEVER see the 'exit' hoses at the bottom - they are ALWAYS at the top.
      All that having been said, I do get your point on one thing...and, it's the very same thing I, myself, have questioned - gravity. When I first got involved in FE boating a few months ago, I thought the 'inlet' side should be the top and the 'outlet' side should be the bottom, purely due to gravity. It made sense to me to "fill" the cooling jacket from the top, and for it to "drain" from the bottom (just like...say...a sink, or a bathtub). However, it was others...people who have been involved in FE boating for many, many years that pointed out to me that the pressure will be the same connected either way, plus they reminded me of the "hotter water rises" temperature matter I pointed out above.

      wide left turns. It's designed for right turns. I'd go with the regular pursuit though over the self righting version much better handling with the non self righting version.
