    I'm so glad you shared that last drag and drop into pre set canvas size method. I am an illustrator who works primarily on paper, for now, and have found translating my scans into images meant for web display slightly confusing. That last method seems like an easy way to prep images for display in a uniform and hopefully clean way. I'll be giving it a shot. Thanks for the tutorial.

    This is the best tutorial on this topic!!! Thanks so much. I was able to use the drop down method to change my album cover art to new dimension requirements of my new distributor in 5 minutes flat! The way you describe the material is very easy for me to understand, not just the what, but the why, which helps me understand Photoshop even better as I go along. Once again, thanks for sharing your expertise!!!

  • @mftrill
    @mftrill Před 3 lety +27

    Okay I can't find the answer to this question ANYWHERE.
    What if you have a really big image and you want to size it down?
    or
    What would you do if you have a big image that you want to put on a smaller-sized document and still retain its original quality?
    It seems that no matter what I do, whenever I move an image to another document, and then I size it down, it's ALWAYS blurry or pixelated.
    All the pictures are shot on a 45-megapixel camera so I'm very confused.

    You are a good teacher! Very clear and fast to explain. BUT, please, how this work when you start with a lower resolution image without using any paid program outside Photoshop? I'm having a hard time here to upscale images from 100dpi to 300dpi, even when I change it to a smart object. They lose quality and clarity. I'd appreciate it a lot if you can help me. Great tutorial. I seem to be having the opposite issue. After dragging my image onto a background image & converting it to a smart object (which I've previously done for countless product photos) I'm losing quality when scaling that layer DOWN. It's becoming very pixelated as I shrink it down to fit the background scale. I'm ripping my hair out over here!

    • @BrendanWilliamsTutorials
      @BrendanWilliamsTutorials  Před 3 lety +1

      It depends on the original resolution. For example, if you used the smart object method and enlarged the photo 10x on a new project, you're now looking that much closer at the image. Anything that was out of focus or blurry would be far more noticeable simply because the photo is bigger, but it would still technically have the same quality as before if that makes sense. Just imperfections become more noticeable as the image gets bigger.
