Italians: “Hot chocolate literally means hot chocolate. It looks like a chocolate bar was straight up melted into a cup with a little bit of milk in it”
Americans “Hot chocolate = Hot Chocolate Milk”
.
.
Must be so fuckin sweet!!
In the American one u forgot to add 500 grams of salt
.
American to drink on a cold day. Italian for desert
Perfectly said!
I remember when i was a little girl my uncle got me Italian hot chocolate but i never knew the name till I saw this video. I am making it right now, ive wondered what this amazing drink was for the last 16 years. Thank you for the video i appreciate it. Im subscribing and cant wait to try some more recipes of yours.
Guys, Italian indeed for colder days because corn heats up the body.. the American version is just basically milk in there. Would you like a new gig? Add "homemade" rice powder instead of cornstarch and taste all the difference. 😉👌
@@godslild3vil I'm happy to have brought back good memories Bethani!❤ Welcome to our fam! Wishing u an awesome 2019 hun!
Yeah cause it's basically pudding
I love how each country has its version of hot chocolate. In Mexico its made with a chocolate and sugar block. For the liquids we use milk or water. The taste is much more floral; In some parts of Mexico they even add spices like chilis, cinnamon and vanilla. Its very reminiscent of my childhood, yet I'm dying to try the Italian one. I'm 100% sure ill be able to knock out like 3 cups since im a serious chocolateholic.
In Jamaica we literally just have cocoa powder and some milk😂
Or Milo powder
Italy and French the same lol
bueno bueno los Mexicanos añadiendole chili a todo jajaja Dios santo
I used to have a secret hot chocolate recipe n everyone loves it but now I realised that it’s legit the exact same thing as the italian one 😂😂😭😭😭💕
When the impostor is sus 😳
This sounds wholesome 😭💖
I guess you've got that recipe from someone else...
here in Egypt, it's just powdered Chocolate with some hot water, no joke
edit: Lmao why is that getting liked till now??
يا راجل
Thats the way it is for me too...and im from America!😂
Same
Same in the uk
Same in America lol almost no one makes it from scratch here
Wait,, there is actual chocolate in y'alls hot chocolate?? *dutch confusion intensifies*.
Yesss! Hot CHOCOLATE🍫😘❤
Sacha Tromp echt zo
What's in Dutch hot coco?
@@laurelmoore5970 uhm,, Chocomel, lmfao.
@@sacha5985 what is chocomel? I'm American?
I definetly prefer Italian hot chocolate. Thanks for the recipe. I was visiting Italy 2 yeas ago, and the hot chocolate over there were thick and dark. I love it
I cant believe people go through so much just for a nice hot Coco while I just get some milo powder mix it in the mug with boiled water and some milk 😌😌
same:)
I just out 4 spoons of milo into a pot pour milk in the pot , heat it up, mix it . pour into cup
I use the local brand..
Italian hot chocolate looks like straight up ganache! I NEED TO MAKE THIS RN!!!
I hope you'll try it 😍❤
Exactly what I was thinking, it looking like a ganache. And I just watched Emma's vanilla custard donuts video, LOL.
I did just finished omg it’s divine
I was thinking more chocolate sauce, but still! I need to make this and churros. I think then I will be happy.
Yeah ! It is like a ganache.
Where are the churros to dip in that delicious Italian hot chocolate 😋
Ikr! I will have to make those sometime!😍
Hi! I’m Italian and I’ve no idea what churros are? Definitely we don’t put them in hot chocolate!😂😊
However I like American hot chocolate too!!
@@alexyes4290 Credo che stesse solo proponendo di servirlo in quel modo :) Non che intendesse che i churros siano Italiani. Sono una pastella fritta spagnola😘
Aahhhh!!! Ok! Le dovrò provare allora!! Grazie della risposta 👌👌
Alex Yes It’s a Spanish thing, because that’s exactly the type of chocolate they use for “churros con chocolate.”
I'm going for a Mexican/Italian version. Love the thickness on the Italian version with a mix of mexican cinnamon chocolate & dark chocolate to enjoy my churros. Thanks for the recipes Emma!
In Australia, we add a cup of Milo into a tablespoon of milk 😂
what’s milo?
LMAO
@@churchgir1 its malt powder but it tastes like chocolate! And we drink it cold cause it’s so hot here 🥵
@@Nerderator yesssssssssss
It’s like we are living on the sun😌
The Italian chocolate also have a sexier pour than the American one.
For sure!✌❤
Definitely something to consider 👍🏻
Definitely
coz it has corn starch ... more sticku
*DEFINITELY*
I definitely want to try the Italian hot chocolate but maybe in an espresso cup size lol
Yes!! Small cup is the perfect serving!💕
Oh yeah yeah
It's not that sweet as you thought, but eat in the way you want 😊
Oh yeah yeah
Yeah exactly! Has to be a small cup like a double espresso portion rather than a full cup.
The weather has just started to turn towards winter here, so either of these would be a gods sent gift. Personally love the Italian style more. The rich flavour and texture is amazing
I tried the Italian one and guys it’s so GOOODD and I will try it again for sure !!
I made it

Buooono 😻

Italian hot chocolate is best hot chocolate!!
It really is a great hot chocolate 😍
Tutto il cibo italiano è il.meglio ....!!👌
Have to desagree with you...
I disagree
@@shadyshelby8361 Chill out man it's someones opinion. No one shit on you for your opinion so why are you shitting on others ?
Italiano ALL the way!!! The first time I had it in Italy I thought I had died and gone to heaven!!!
me too!!
🤣🤣
Italian hot chocolate is just to die for. It's like it was meant for my palette. Literally like drinking a melted chocolate bar and oh my goodness, I turn up in heaven for those few moments.
The Italian one is too much, I would only be able to have a couple sips, I prefer the American one with whipped cream n cinnamon!
I prefer the lighter drinkable version but I can't wait to try the Italian version this weekend with some homemade creme fraiche.
Oh so lovely!!😍
I'm italian so... 😜 But actually I prefer a version in between. I like It thicker than the American one but less thick that the one you made. You have to drink It not eat it with a spoon.
Fantasvale Art Lab That's true
then u can probably just skip the cornstarch in the italian version
@@anavelandrews9373 when she skip the cornstrach its will be an american hot choclate 😂
The alien in your backyard - Japan "stole" tempura from the Portuguese, Americans "stole" pizza from the Italians who probably "stole" it from the Greeks (or vice versa), no one *owns* a type of cuisine with any exclusivity.
Hot chocolate in italy is usually served with whipped cream (although you can opt out of it - it's a choice of topping) and a tea spoon. I've never seen Italians claim that their hot chocolate is supposed to be drunk instead of eaten with a spoon.
Source: me, an avid consumer of hot chocolate when I don't take a cappucino.
I just made the Italian hot chocolate and I’m in love with myself for making this. 😍 thank you so much for the recipe!!!!!
I’ve always been so amazed and intrigued by Italian hot chocolate. They really know how to do it. Much less of a beverage more of a drinkable dessert 😋
I've always dreamt of a thicker, richer and creamier hot chocolate. Finally! Thanks for teaching me that what I've been looking for was Italian hot chocolate. Lol. ☕🍫🍫
So true. I thought it was just my imagination and now I discovered no it's Italian hot chocolate
The italian looks incredible! I would dip so many things into it, fruit, marshmallows, bread, its like fondue! 😍😍
I made the American one tonight, and it was really good! I’m looking forward to making and tasting the Italian one next. The American one was very rich and creamy, and a small serving was just right.
Thank you so much fir this recipe. Can’t wait to try
Omg Dominicans (& probably other Hispanics) make something similar to the Italian Hot Chocolate except it’s called Maizena and it’s much thicker like a pudding but essentially made the same, it’s something you could eat for breakfast or dessert. & I usually add cinnamon and vanilla extract to my hot chocolate it taste so much better (:
Oh wow!! That's so interesting Stephanie, would love to try it sometime :)
We use Maizena in France too but it's just cornstarch
As an Italian, I can testify that we also have a proper chocolate pudding/custard tradition on top of the thick drinking chocolate Emma makes in the video. But that is generally served cold as a dessert or mid-afternoon snack.
Maizena is a cornstarch brand
Maizena and cornstarch are the same thing
I made the Italian chocolate today...it’s amazing. You really have to eat it with a spoon and it really is more of a desert than a drink. A shot of this will cure any sugar cravings for sure
Sounds great to me.
It's amazing for a winter day or as I did, on a rainy day.. It's really enjoyable sitting inside, enjoying the rain or the winter with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate. Well I prefer the Italian one. But both of them taste amazing! Thanks for the recipe!❤️
I will make it for sure. Thank you so much 💗
Italian. In an espresso cup. No need to have a full cup (8 oz) worth. Half a cup and the chocolate is unbeatable in the Italian hot chocolate with a pinch of cayenne. Yum!
Oh for sure! Much more enjoyable that way!😍
I'm Italian, I eat a full-size cup of Italian chocolate with whipped cream on it and a little bit of cocoa powder on the top for a break in the afternoon. The American hot chocolate in Italy is usually drunken in the morning with biscuits and it's called just milk with cocoa powder.
The italian version is also lower in sugar, so it’s not as sweet as the American one and it’s easily consumed, even if it’s thicker!
The recipes that she gave have the same amount of sugar per serving for both italian and american though?
American's one is fatter.
@@mistressx4096 That makes no sense. Both use the same type of ingredients. In each serving, the Italian version would actually yield more calories due to higher count and amount of ingredients (cornstarch, chocolate, and cocoa powder). The difference should be around 100 calories per serving from more chocolate. So unless you plan to drink two servings of the American version per one serving of the Italian version, there is no fattening here. If anything, the Italian version should be fattier from the additional chocolate per serving.
The Italian chocolate is just slightly more caloric. It's not like if there are more ingredients then it's automatically more caloric x'D It's not about the amount of ingredients but what the ingredients are. Like, a salad with one type of vegetable is not less caloric than a salad with 100 types of vegetables.
they both have the same amount of sugar
I recently made the Italian hot chocolate and it was so good! It's just so good!! I made a little too much, so I put it in the fridge to drink the next day, and it became more like a Italian cold chocolate, but it was just as good. I almost liked the cold one better! Super refreshing and chocolatey!! 10/10
When it's cold, is it like chocolate pudding?
I love the Italian version! I just recently tried it and now can’t stop. So thick and rich!
We usually like to serve it WITH A SPOOON!!
Johannes Sonnenblume a spoon of what ? Whip cream ?
@@jairct3617 no just a spoon because of how thick it is
I tried the American version, and it came out so addictive! I used 52% cocoa chocolate and got such a lovely taste of the chocolate in the drink ,the hot chocolate had a deep chocolate flavour but was at the same time very light to drink!
Both concoctions are maddening delightful
Used to.. loved it 🔥 thank you for sharing ❤️❤️
American- hot drink, Italian- chocolate mousse dessert
Yup!
These always turn out so delicious! Thank you for this💕
Wow!!! That's fantastic!
Tried the italian one and it was soo goood. Whenever I tried a hot chocolate dessert I always ended up with a thick pudding, today it came out perfect thanks to you.
Thank you Emma!
Try Mexican hot chocolate. It has a hint of cinnamon and made with corn flour.
Katherine Tillery that’s champurrado
Seh... El champurrado y el chocolate caliente son dos cosas bastante distintas, por que aparte está el pozol (de tabasco) y está el chocolate en agua con chile, el chocolate con leche, el chocolate con agua y algunas veces con canela, hay mucha variedad
Dizo diz I’m pretty sure champurado has normal flour
The alien in your backyard - again, get over it. Mexicans "stole" it from the Aztecs who probably "stole" it from someone else from someone else and on down the line.
"Pinole" is The name of The "corn flour"
Thank u so much Emma's goodies
Everytime I watch your videos I always look forward to seeing you at the very start or the end of it.Your laughter and smile is intoxicating ❣️
Definitely the Italian; I never knew how absolutely amazing this was, until I went to Italy! I love American hot chocolate, with tons of marshmallows, but thick and creamy Italian hot chocolate, with whipped cream? Mama Mia!!!! Mille grazie, Emma!

Perfect timing on this. I was looking for a receipt for Christmas Eve. The American looks so delicious. Thank you for sharing.
I did the American hot chocolate and added 1/8 teaspoon of cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric, dash of black pepper and coconut oil. Great recipe.
