The hellboy books in general he walked the streets openly, nobody was ever overly surprised or frightened to see him, especially considering the time the books were set, you'd think people would have been shocked

I actually by chance saw Selma and her mother shopping in Manhattan around Christmas time years ago. She is indeed very beautiful as is her mother.
My kid cousin is 3 years old with bad ms and her parents are dirt poor. Point being Selma is well off enough to not need anyone's help. There are however many suffering that do need any and all help.

Fun fact the creator of Yugioh Kazuki Takahashi was a huge fan of hellboy and he and hellboys creator actually drew each other retrospective characters in each other’s art style. Kazuki drew hellboy with yugi’s hair, the Millennium puzzle, and a duel disk and mike drew hellboy wearing a t shirt of yugi with the millennium puzzle
Hellboy is one of the most Badass characters ever. I Really admire the character and the backstory of Hellboy.

@@samuelraji8343 Haha! Perhaps you have a point there, but such an occurrence/trope isn't _strictly_ limited to shonen anime and the like. You can find those types of dynamics in quite a few western works including comics regardless of genre or sub-genre.
For anyone who hasn't read Hellboy - do not go from the early years straight to Hellboy In Hell as this video suggests. You'll miss the entire leadup and sheer weight of Hellboy in Hell, don't skip those Duncan Fegredo years, the art is still amazing and Darkness Calls, Wild Hunt, The Storm and The Fury are not optional reading if you want the full picture and have Hellboy In Hell actually make sense and mean something.
So you're suggesting to read the entire 6 Library Edition volumes before Hellboy In Hell ?

@@BillyMayhem2000 it’s no problem. The 4 omnibus volumes are the main story to Hellboy: Seed of destruction #1, Strange places #2, the Wild hunt #3, and Hellboy in Hell #4. There’s a lot of references and appearances of characters from the “Short Stories”, these are little episodes of Hellboy either created by Mignola himself or another artist he collaborated with. So I would recommend picking up both Vol. 1 & 2 of Hellboy short stories, because (no spoilers) some of these characters are detrimental to the overarching story and may leave you shaking your head if you didn’t know who they were. I hope that helped lol

Fun examination of the comic book character. You really covered a lot of ground in a short time. However, Hellboy wasn't really secret in the original comics like he was in the Guillermo del Toro films and "Bruttenholm" is pronounced "Broom" as Mike Mignola (as scripted by John Byrne) explains in "Hellboy: Seed of Destruction."

I just finished B.P.R.D.:The Devil You Know, which was his ultimate story ending.
Equal parts depressing yet fulfilling.
Never read a comic book story that lets you actually follow a character all the way until their true end. They always get rebooted, restarted, brought by other companies, etc.,etc.
I love the story and character, and have never had a fictional character leave such an impression on me.

I've been waiting for this for a long time! Insane that you guys never got to this. You should totally cover the Darkness Calls ~ Storm and Fury storyline that the new movie is being based on, there's honestly so much more characters you can get into the history of instead of always doing DC or Marvel characters.
Much as I enjoyed the Hellboy books themselves I also enjoyed the BPRD ones, allowing us insight into the other characters

My reading recommendation for Hellboy: All of it lol
But seriously, I usually recommend people read The Wolves of Saint August before any other story, mostly because I feel that story is both short enough to keep people interested and still have everything that one can expect from Hellboy

Great video, I loved Hellboy since I started reading him in the 90’s. I loved both animated and live action movies, I’m definitely seeing the new movie this weekend even though I heard it wasn’t very good. You guys should do a breakdown of each of Hellboy’s allies and villains, he has quite an array of them.
Every time when I read hellboy’s dialogue I read it in Steve Blum voice in my head I can just imagine it and it fits it perfect for its source material

A Metroidvania set in another world with 2 heroes, Hellboy, a melee based attacker & Hellgal, a Alternate universe hellboy who is female and uses Magical Projectile attacks.
They were summoned into a world known as The Forgotten Realm, a challenge for them to team up & fight Monsters & Use their Teamwork moves to Defeat whoever summoned them and Return to their respective dimensions!
Caught a pre-screening last night(South Africa, PTA), fans of the comic will LOVE this Reboot, I know I did.

Hellboy is my favourite comic book character. it sucks not many people actually read the comics. I spoke with a local comic book owner and he put the free seed of destruction reprints out for Hellboy day and not many people were excited or interested. I have all the Hellboy Library Editions. BEST PURCHASE EVER. so beautiful.

I'm actually stoked for new Hellboy the first movie seems to fall very close to his real origin story. Not really knowing much about the character then or now I felt like Ron Perlman played him his rugged voice was perfect for part.
