I have used Fram Tough Guard a few times with no problems. I had an oil change done at Oil Changers in Canada and they used what was a Purolator cartage oil filter and it collapsed. I think you need to use things like a Purolator Boss, A Fam Ultra or the Actual Toyota OEM filter.
No one knows for sure why this happens with cartridge filters, 1 theory is when you remove it it'll twist when taking it off , I've had even Mobil 1 filters do this at 3000 miles
The factory filters have a perforated tube that is part of the cap. The filter can collapse if you have inadvertently thrown the tube out with the filter element. czcams.com/video/xMf2NqqGcks/video.html
