Because for some reason Monty hates Ivey. Claims are it is a focus on defense, but it doesn’t pass the smell test
Of course we all speculating, but I think it might be the opposite. Monty sees Ivey's potential, but wants to change his mentality. Killian may be doing more of the right things in practice, and earning the start from a culture perspective.
@@AJHDC except when Ivey spearheaded the comeback against the Pelicans at the end of the 3rd and we never saw him for the entire 4th in favor of Joe Harris completely goes against that.

@@cordelldemattei5446Monty has been questionable it’s almost like Dewayne Casey 2.0 none of these coaches do the obvious and it pisses me off we need Ivey so bad out there and he isn’t a bad defender at all like there is no excuse for him to be on the bench
If anything best situation, he plays second unit with sasser. Develops a jumper in the meantime to offset that right hand and build his value up and get traded (somewhere like the bulls or spurs)
Ivey doesn’t play defence at all , that’s why wiseman is on the bench as well

Killian doesn’t make as many mistakes takes the right shots they just won’t drop Ivey makes tons on mistakes tends to get tunnel vision and a defensive liability sasser just doesn’t have all that much upside compared to killian
Sasser has more upside than Killian and Ivey.
Because of his defense. He is a lock down defender on a team that needs defense and he is a talented playmaker.
The massive lead the Pelicans built while Killian chucked air balls would argue that it doesn’t balance out.
The pistons need spacing, Ivey gives them that.
though im a fan of killian, but i have to say his defense is overestimated.
He’s not a “lockdown” defender by any means whatsoever. He’s solid guarding the ball handler but he’s horrendous off the ball. Constantly allows back cuts for his man to get to the basket leading to lay ups or fouls by our bigs leading to free throws. I see this happen at least 5 times a game. He’s a slightly above average defender who also happens to be the worst offensive player in the history of basketball when considering sample size.
Probably because he's the only one plays defense..and not turn the ball over....
I like him, but it’s time to cut bait. He still has the potential to be a good player, we see flashes, but it’ll have to be somewhere else.
