  • Are you contemplating moving to Singapore? Do you know anyone who has such a plan? He’s desirous of a good thing. It’s a country rich not only in economy but also in culture, history, and natural heritage. These are some of the things that make living in Singapore a worthwhile goal. In one of our videos on this channel, we discuss the 10 reasons why you must love Singapore while another one discusses reasons to move to Singapore. However, there are certain factors to be considered before making the final move. That’s the reality of moving to Singapore. In this video, we’ll discuss the cost of living in Singapore and other things that you should expect when you move there.
    Standard of Living
This is one of the reasons for moving to Singapore. The standard of living is great. For education and infrastructure, Singapore is a great country. Living in Singapore gives you access to the best of the best. In fact, companies and employers pay for children’s education since education is so valued and considered a worthwhile investment. The high standard of living in this country is reflected in a broad spectrum, extending to dining, shopping, and modern amenities. We can take a whole day discussing how valuable each one of these indices of values of life is.
However, the reality of living in Singapore is that the widely-acclaimed standard of living comes with quite a great cost. The cost of living in this country is so high. It’s one of the most expensive countries in the world. Though many are moving to Singapore drawn by the ample work opportunities, its excellent education system provides assurance that their kids’ careers will be cared for. Yet, the world-class education available here doesn’t come cheap. Fees will eat so deep into your income, taking a massive chunk of your salary each month.
    Great Healthcare System
One of the pros of living in Singapore is its healthcare system. It’s well-developed. Ex-pats have nothing to worry about regarding the quality of the medical services in the country and they can be sure of a quick and efficient medical intervention whenever it’s needed. The World Health Organization (WHO) placed Singapore 6th in one of its rankings of global healthcare systems in recognition of its world-class medical services.
The high-quality and reliable health service is also widely accessible-to both foreigners and citizens. When you need to see a specialist, wait times are generally quite short. The service is well-structured and Singaporean hospitals are among the best. Employers even contribute their quota to their employees’ healthcare as part of the employment package.
However, a potential downside is that these services may come with a hefty price tag. Expats without insurance may find that they have to pay more to enjoy the same quality of care as locals. While certain procedures may be cheaper, others can be as much as 20 per cent more costly in Singapore than in the UK, or even more in the US.
Of course, those entering the country as medical tourists can have some advantages. However, those looking to relocate to Singapore for a longer time should face this fact: the reality of moving to Singapore is that the healthcare options available may create a hole in their pockets. Government data shows that the cost of healthcare in Singapore has increased by 53.6 per cent within just decades.
