1-Beatles: White Album
2-Allman Brothers: Live at Fillmore East
3-Led Zeppelin: IV
4-The Who: Who's Next
5-Rolling Stones: Exile on Main Street
Solid list of classic rock.
1. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
2. Deep Purple - In Rock
3. Pink Floyd - Animals
4. Kate Bush - The Dreaming
5. Yes - Close To The Edge
Nice list!
2 of my favourite albums are Yes, Drama and Raindow, Rising.
Interestingly if you take the keyboard play from Yes (who played on Drama in 1980, and is still in Yes today)...
And the bass player from Rainbow, Rising (Dio's bass player)...
You end up with Kate Bush, The Dreaming.
Haha they both played on that album.
The criminally underrated "Animals" album as well as "Sabotage".... The latter I favor over "Master of Reality or "Volume 4" nowadays. The Sabs had a bunch of great albums... Only true fans are lucky enough to know of their greatness beyond a few of them
Solid list In Rock is my #1 and every other album on your list narrowly missed my cut. An all time top 5 is so hard, it's like asking me to choose a favorite child
1. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
2. The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
3. Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak
4. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
5. Bruford - One Of A Kind
Great show guys!
A great episode. I would like to play along...

3. Yes - Fragile
4. Rush - 2112
5. Queen - A Night At The Opera
Thumbs up for #2!
Nice choices.
That is a W list. No cheesy Pink Floyd albums, No obscure albums which no one has ever heard, and No generic AC/DC hard rock style albums.
1. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
2. Can - Tago Mago
3. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
4. The Beatles - Revolver
5. King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Lark's Tongue a musical achievement. Great list.
TLLDOB one of the 20th century's best musical achievements.
"Larks In Aspen's Tongue".. my awesome introduction to King Crimson. "Revolver' used to be a favorite.. but Rubber Soul overtook it when the real version or the UK version came out in the US with "Nowhere Man". (Yet 'And Your Bird Can Sing" fulfills the mighty "Revolver" in the same way in america.. used to be on the "Yesterday And Today"album)
1. UFO - Strangers in the night
2. Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
3. Aerosmith - Rocks
4. Van Halen - Van Halen
5. Rush - Hemispheres
đžufo
Aerosmith - Rocks is the absolute pinnacle of hard rock! A lot of fans like Toys In The Attic better..
C'MON NOW! Rocks is riff heaven!
This is my list:
1. Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
2. Machine Head - Deep Purple
3. Mob Rules - Black Sabbath
4. Exile on Main Street - Rolling Stones
5. Relayer - Yes
Need a show with Sydney and her dad. He sounds like a really cool guy!
He sure is!
i always wonder if its weird, you're thinking "my little angel hangs out with a bunch of guys that are my age".
its always weird to me when i go to concerts and instead of running into my old friends from high school, i run into my old friends kids that are now the age we were when we were hanging out LOL.
5. Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
4. Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties
3. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
2. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
1. Thin Lizzy - Chinatown
Your 3,4, and 5 are up there for me too! Nice picks!
Love that you have Perfect Str. on your list DB -- all other DeepP albums get mentioned but that is right up there with the more familiars. BOC on my list as well.
Hi Duncan. Exceptional, uncommon, and great pick with Chinatown. Let me know if you want to listen to the 2nd CD of the Deluxe edition with rare, alternate, and live tracks from the Chinatown sessions. Very cool material.

Vicious Rumours are so underated digital dictator is a banger of an album
This is my current list, it could completely change at any time.
1. Thin Lizzy- Black Rose

4.Racer X- Street Lethal (if you call yourself a metal fan and havenât heard this album, youâre doing yourself a massive disfavor.)
5. Soundgarden- Superunkown
Wow someone else actually likes racer x.mega band good choice
@@davehodson6288 Paul Gilbert is one of my all time favorites. Everyone in the band is excellent though. Donât get me wrong, I love well thought out solos and complex music arrangements, but sometimes I just wanna hear face melting guitar shredding. That album grabs you by the throat and beat the hell outta you for 35 mins straight. Second Heat is equally as face melting.
I was going to mention second heat and the two live albums that followed all excellent. By the way I actually met Jeff Martin back here in the UK when he drummed for badlands.had a a brief chat about racer x with him
@@davehodson6288 Thatâs awesome! Jeff was an excellent singer, but he was no slouch on the kit either! Yeah, those two live albums are also excellent. Iâve actually heard that Bruce and Jeff arenât on speaking terms, so itâs not really a big chance of happening, but Iâm hoping that theyâll do at least ONE more reunion album and tour. Iâve never had the chance to see them live and would love to.
@@BlueDragonBot

Wow, out of all the top 5 listings on this show, yours is the strongest as far as my taste goes. Love all 5 of those masterpieces.
@@stevecowder4774 You have good taste. :-) I could list another 5 just as or almost as strong but the above 5 were the ones that immediately popped into my mind.

Love the Saga pick! My favorite from them as well.
Ponty NICE!!!
5. The Beatles - Abbey Road
4. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
3. Rush - Hemispheres
2. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
1. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Love for The Great Radio Controversy. Damn that is a good album!
Favorite Metal albums ( pre Hair - Thrash)
1. Fates Warning - Spectre Within
2. Cirith Ungol - King of the Dead

5 Metallica - Ride the Lightning
4 Pearl Jam - Ten
3 Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
2 Neil Young - After the Goldrush
1 The Beatles - Abbey Road
Great show guy's!!! Ryan I saw Voivod the night before you did here in Columbus Ohio at a small bar and they were incredible. Fantastic show!

8. Ace of Spades Motorhead
9. Chuck Sum 41
10. Days of Future Passed The Moody Blues
Can't imagine a life without The White Album.
5.ANGEL-On Earth As It Is In Heaven- I choose this as it was the transition album. It was also my first as I had trouble finding their stuff. This was a white plastic 8 track that NEVER came out of the deck. I LOVE BOTH eras of the band but this was my first!
4.DEEP PURPLE- In Rock- Used copy Summer of 84 in Boston BLOWN AWAY. Played it non stop all Summer. I have a hard time listening to "Child In Time" now but only because I listened to it SOOOO much. Then they REFORMED!! It was meant to be! (I could easily throw in Heeps Demons and Wizards here)
3.STARZ-Violation-While you can say the first is the best, I thought they grew tremendously on this one. It has depth, it has riffs, it has SWAG, its light, its dark and its a Masterpiece. George Orwell, Mind Control, emotional pop. Perfection.
2.AEROSMITH-Rocks-What can you say? Its absolute perfection. The amount of quality songs, the SYNERGY of the band at its peak. "Lick and a Promise', "Sick As A Dog" They were a gang of thieves that became KINGS and collected all the ROCKS found on the cover. The album is so special I cant capture the Mystic quality in words.
1.UFO-Strangers In The night. Listened to the first side and then wrote out the lyrics to every song listening to it over and over. Yes Schenker blew me away! However, it was the lyrics found in songs like "Out In The Street" and "Im A Loser" that hooked me! Emotional, sincere, introspective, and very humanistic and poetic.
1- The Beatles ( White Album) - The Beatles
2- Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
3- Queen Of The Murder Scene- The Warning
4- Ride The Lightning- Metallica
5- Master Of Puppets - Metallica

Outstanding episode from the HSV though with internet interruptions at this end, spent most of Tuesday just trying to finish watching the show. Just managed to do that this AM. Great to see Sydney back and kudos to Ryan for his new camera and microphone set up. Great to hear him so clearly. Like Pete, just listing my top 5 from the recent show he and Martin Popoff did though looking at it as just five, really miss not listing numbers 6 through 10. Hi Steve. Your Live picks, Made In Japan, On Your Feet or On Your Knees, and Robin Trower Live, and your #1 studio choice. Bridge Of Sighs are 4 of my personal All Time Favorites as well. Cheers.
Queen 2, magnificent album, mix of prog and heavy metal, with thread of unity, although not really a concept album
I remember back in 1976 when the "Rainbow Rising" album came out how the local record shop had the artwork covering the whole of the front window. Of course I bought it being a Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore fan. Bloody hard to think of it being 46 years ago now.
What are some of your favorite Ritchie Blackmore albums that dont have Ian Gillan or Dio(that's all I have)??
@@integrity101 "Burn" and "Stormbringer" from Deep Purple Mark 3. The "Slaves and Masters" album (with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals) is also quite good musically. And the first three Deep Purple albums with Rod Evans (on vocals) I really like. The album "Burn" is still the best one he's been involved with (IMHO). And "Burn" is my number one pick for Deep Purple. I prefer David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes over Ian Gillan.
@@Nordicroo Considering you can't spell Gillan's name correctly...
@@ronan82 Sorry mein fuhrer! I corrected the auto spell check. Happy now or will you cry a bit more?
@@Nordicroo I am, being a spelling nazi is important. Lest we all lose the plot even further.
1. Boston - Debut
2. Kansas - Leftoverture
3. Styx - Grand Illusion
4. Dream Theater - Images and Words
5. UFO - Strangers in the Night
Boston album is amazing, fun fact Tom Scholz was born in Toledo Ohio the city where I was born, grew up and currently living right now
KANSAS- Leftoverture is a true masterpiece.

Whoa GBH sneaking into the top 5! Cool! I was super late to the party with those guys until a friend steered me . Already loved some of their peers (Discharge, AmebixâŠ) for years. Amazing album though!
@@Conan_WhatIsBestInLife I first saw GBH on July 14, 1986. I last saw them May 30, 2018. Three of the four members were still in the band. The new drummer came aboard in 1994.
@@michaelriffee4526 Iâve got a soft spot for their â83 album City Babyâs Revenge too. Hell, even their most recent 2017 album Momentum is great! I had an opportunity to see them around 2018, they toured the US that summer I believe, but I already had tickets to see another show so unfortunately I missed it. I heard they were incredible on that tour.
@@Conan_WhatIsBestInLife City Baby's Revenge was my introduction to the band
