@@vandarkholme2376 A Jew can be Russian, but not if he flies away from Russia and then pretends that he knows something about the Russians. Yes, Russia is a multicultural and multiethnic country, BUT it has an ethnic Russian majority(80%, 85% if we count Ukranians and Belarusians), and all other ethnicities have their OWN land where their ancestors lived before it became a part of the Empire within the borders of Russia. For example, Tatars were(and are) natives of the territory of modern Tatarstan, Buryats were(and are) natives of Buryatia, Komi were(and are) natives of Komi republic, all those people have a right to call themselves Russian(россияне, not русские, русские is reserved for East Slavic Russians) regardless of where they actually live(USA, Canada, EU countries, Central Asia, China, whatever) because they have no motherland outside of Russia, and the territories where they originated are parts of the Russian Federation. On the contrary, the Jews came from the Middle East, and they DO have their own country, their original motherland is not within the borders of Russia, so calling them Russian if they left the country, even if they speak the language, is entirely wrong.

Русским и тем, кто использовал Google Translate:

The best Russian characters were in "Daredevil", out of doubt.
The two worst thing about Russians in films are their accents (both weird Russian and Engish with an accent) and what we call kljukva (? cranberry?? it makes little sense I know), which is a stereotypical portrayal of Russians, basically. Red stars, ushankas, accents too, alcoholism, rudeness - all of those great things. Especially when it is used for real, not as a joke. Yeah, it's annoying at times, especially when it is used for real, not as a joke.
I hope it'll change soon. Films definitely have an impact on our perception of life and due to those stereotypes many people have a prejudice against Russians.

There`s a special term for low-quality depicting Russians in foreign movies and books: "клюква" - "cranberry". I really LLLove cranberry and enjoy every mistake I see. I don’t get what’s the deal if the person shares the language with you and used to live in the same country with you. Abroad I’d be happy to meet anyone like that. You are talking about Slavic mentality as we are ultraOrthodox serfs in 19th century Russian empire, so close minded that we won’t get along with anyone except our village neighbors. That’s just laughable.

sowhat9006 It’s not anti-Semitic. Jews isolate and separate themselves everywhere except really in the United States, where there is no real cultural distinction between Jews and non-Jews.
I don’t think you realize how hardcore racist non-American Jews are, because they /want/ to be separate from foreign culture. Jews in Mexico, for example, do not act like Mexican people. They’re /technically/ Spanish-speakers, but they’re not really Mexican. They’re Jews.

I've always wondered why there aren't more Russian people, or at least people of Russian/Soviet descent who can speak Russian, playing Russian characters. I mean Russia is huge, there are a lot of Russians living all over the world - why not try to make a bigger effort to cast these people? I can't imagine that it's impossible to find Russian actors who speak English well enough to have a speaking role in a Hollywood movie...
The same goes of course for other nationalities as well. I know that out of Hollywood's point of view we Europeans are basically all the same (i.e. Dutch, Scandinavian and German people always seem to have pretty much the same accent for example) but it would still be cool to see some more variation. It's called doing your research :P
*It's typical for Murica and Hollywood. They mostly remade good foreign movies, instead of just launch the original movie. For example, the french action-comedy "Taxi" (1998) and the american remake "New York Taxi" (2004). The french original had less budget, but still better ratings than the remake. And about the actor/character-topic just look at the "Professor Langdon"-movie "Angels & Demons" (2009), they could have searched for an italian actress to play the role of Vittoria Vetra, like they did for "The Da Vinci Code"(2006) and hired french star-actrice Audrey Tautou for the role of Sophie Neveu. But they did not for this main character. And I'm pretty sure they just hired her because of her "Amelie"-fame and not because Hollywood wanted to be accurate in the details.*
Клюква развесистая. Скучно.
LOL, I've always felt the same way about Asian (specifically Chinese) actors that can't really speak but are used anyways. You should do a similar one for Asians actors as well. =)
I hope they do
Yes! Especially the old Chinese lady who pretended to be Korean in Black Panther. That was just horrendous.
@@revinaque1342 It's definitely the "We all look the same" mentality when it comes to casting Asians.
So true. I hear people speaking Chinese (Mandarin) in the movies and you can tell right off the bat that they can't speak it at all.
that's the same thing that happens with italian characters. most of them does not speak italian at all, but the worst thing is when they make someone speak italian with a super strong (and weird) accent because no one speaks like that and if they do it is because they are from specific places in italy where they have specific dialects/accents. so it'd be cool to see this kind of video done for italians too 💥
I was hoping they would react to Armie Hammer's portrayal of Illya Kuryakin

That's gotta be a joke right?
Yes it's a joke
can we please get an actual representation of Russian people please and thank you
“I don’t like when non-russians play russians” 0:33 That is exactly how I feel when a persian character is played by an Indian or a caucasian person who LOOKS middle eastern. I get it, sometimes the actual ethnicity doesn’t matter as long as they look a certain way, but a lot of the time the audience KNOWS that that person isn’t, in this case, Persian. And I absolutely dislike it even more when they get the accent wrong. Didsney’s Aladdin live action is coming out and although it may be unclear what they’re considered, especially since the story had been revamped so many times, its pretty obvious that they’re arabic or persian or at least something middle-eastern. I pray to god they don’t give princess Jasmine a british accent like they did to Belle who screams FRENCH.
Sorry to anyone that somehow finds my little rant “offensive”
I totally agree with you. THERE ARE ENOUGH actors in LA looking for jobs that ARE Russians, Persian, Arabic, Chinese - whatever! Give them a chance!
@@mbmckedits I completely agree with you. Persian characters are often stereotyped as typically middle eastern but my father is from Iran and his family have blonde hair with light amber eyes! Persian characters should be shown with diversity and not just assumed to look the same!
I'm not offended but I am curious about what you think on them casting Will Smith as a genie? Also the trailer is out btw
@@joeynathan6073 I am not middle-eastern but I think it is BS. Like there's no talented middle eastern actors that have good sense of humour, are good comedy actors and have a decently big frame. Judging by the amount of really good actors in Russia that never will be casted in Hollywood I think there is a big fat chance there are a lot of good actors that would be more authentic and more awesome in this role. But. They want Will Smith because he is already established and has a fan base and also he need to fill pretty big shoes that Robin Williams {may this amazing human being RIP} wore. But it is sad to see no directors taking big risks when it comes to casting.
How did you feel about Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton as Persians in "Prince of Persia"?

I think american accent sounds funny and a little bit confused /that scene with Black Widow was been dubbed so this is first time when I heard the original/

The problem isn't with them speaking English without any accent. They speak Russian with heavy American accent
@@KusabiTetsugoro Not only that. They can't even speak right. "Это как должно звучить" - это простительно иностранцу, но не носителю языка, даже если он 20 лет жил в другой стране. Появится акцент, забудутся некоторые слова, станет сложно стоить сложносочиненные предложения, но, ска, "это как должно звучить?" - это прямой индикатор того, что язык был приобретен позже и грамматика не въелась в мозг.
