I like how the Russian voice actor for Sam put on an accent that tells you he speaks Russian but not too well.
The Russian voice is the true voice for the characters. Don't even argue.

The english voice does a typical voice over, be it a game, cartoon, or tv show, whereas the russian actor does it with an unmistakable old school theater delivery and style, even compared to his russian mates, most of whom sound more TV like as well. Also - the english one is busy pronouncing his words with some accent, while the russian doesn`t have to, and he is 100% free to act naturally, as he would on stage.
Fun fact: the actor in the Russian version of the game, who voices Artem(Artyom), also voices Chris Evans (Captain America) in the Russian localization
I like how in the Russian version Sams Russian doesn’t sound as perfect as the others. It’s the best detail in the game
Yea, they nailed sam's voice, and I've heard plenty of Americans try to speak Russian and they have that kind of accent when speaking Russian.
But also in Russian version Sam is not sounds like American who speaks English, he sounds like a clown who try to speak with dummy accent for joke.

I like how Sam, as a real American character, was not given any accent in the English version. I don't know Russian, but I'm very curious if his Russian voice is actually embedded with an "American" accent deliberately. (I do somehow feel like his Russian voice sounded different from the Russian characters)

Да, у Сэма прям мурашкогенераторный голос))
Зато почти все остальные, кроме разве что Креста, звучат через чур натужно, особенно голос Артема...если слышать голос не жалеешь, что Артем говорит только в брифингах. Но Креста озвучивает Марк Иванир (уроженец СССР собственно, во второй части Павла озвучивал), а он в основном русских в играх и озвучивает.
Ермака перепутали в русской озвучке с Соломоном.

I literally finished this gem of a game today. Throughout the game, I was worried about Anna dying but I failed to even consider that Miller would make the ultimate sacrifice so that both Artyom and Anna can live the life that they deserve. This final music and that ending sequence in general brought me to tears. Seeing our crew rush in to aid Artyom gave me all kinds of chills. And that ending scene where every crew member sits by our bedside either worried sick or giving blood while we talk to Miller in the afterlife and bid him farewell just brought a rush of emotions. It was all executed splendidly to say the least.
Artyom is a Hero. Miller is a legend!

I'm half american, half russian and I can certify, that the russian voice actor perfectly nailed Sam's american accent in the russian version, even if more texan than californian (Sam told, while being on the train in the scene before Yamatay, he's from Cali, but served in Florida before his deployment in Iraq) As for his accent, russians always seem to go for texan accent for some reason, when impersonating americans. Anyway, I was convinced, it were a real american, voicing Sam and I was stunned to find out, it was in fact a russian actor. Nothing but respect for this guy!

Andre Sogliuzzo as Baron is killing it!
I like how some of these VAs have near identical voices, despite being voiced by different people in different languages. Most noticeable are Damir and Stepan, if you skip forward to avoid the transition its like they're voiced by the same person!
But I find it kinda strange that Sofia Prokhorova, who is the daughter of the game's director, voiced Nastya in the English version but not her native Russian? Same goes for Marina Dyakonenko (Olga), according to IMDb her roles are mostly in Russian films and series, yet she voiced her in English only.
The one thing that bothers me about the Russian dub is that a lot of the characters sound too different from how they did previously (Anna, Miller, Bourbon), whereas as in the English dub, a lot of the actors who voiced them previously make a return. Playing Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light and Metro Exodus with the English dub really creates a sense of continuity.
3:36 Steve Blum is still voice acting Tank Dempsey but with a little chill and mellow kind.
Artyom (ma boi) doesn't talk except load screens. All characters like "artyom you fell of a 200m cliff, are you ok?" And he's like "..."

Блин, но вот серьёзно. Мне так кажется, что англичане озвучивали актёров на отъебись, а вот НАШИ так сказать, ТОВАРИЩИ всё красиво сделали, ТАЛАНТ.
Не переусердствуй. Наши озвучили персонажей лучше, чем американцы или кто бы они ни были. Только вот уровень русской озвучки в игре всё равно отвратительно низок. Слушать эти переигрывания неприятно.

@@warhamm2000 Странно, но в английской версии НАМНОГО лучше анимация и липсинк. В русской намного лучше сам текст, но озвучка типичная "игровая", с переигрываниями и мультяшными голосами. Не выиграешь, короче. Хорошая концовка сильнее вышла в русской версии. Мельник вытащил, ну и сам текст будто бы Глуховский сам писал.

With all respect to english voices, but my ears are bleeding hearing this "I will pretend to be Russian with zis stronk akcent! Lets grab balalaika and drink vodka, comrade!".
I can only understand you playing Metro for the first time and using Eng Voicing. For any others - I have no idea why you are still doing it. The feel of the game with Russian voicing is more impactful. More authentic. And warm.
I strongly encourage every fan to switch to Russian voices. You deserve so much better than you have.
I play with English voices on the first playthrough because Metro's subtitles are never the best, and figuring out everything that's going on is something I generally like to focus on.
@@TheBrainSpecialist subtitles are actually a really good way to catch everything, because when you are sneeking around enemies with subtle voices you can better understand the context with subtitles. Otherwise you should get closer.
@@AlexiosLair What I mean is that I often don't like getting within subtitle range (I always play stealth when possible) So yeah, I'll use my ears to pick up the cool side stuff, no matter how cringe it can get.
Atleast most of the English voice actors can voice act, unlike most of the Russian voice actors who seem to just read the script without emotions.
The English dubbing is vastly superior with few exceptions (Giul amd Alyosha).
Artyom, Anna and Miller are just so much better in English.
But Russians are really speaking like this. I agree it's little exaggeratedly, but they really saying CH (Spanish J) instead of H, saying Ď instead of normal D etc... :-) Not all, but most of them.
PS: Czech subbtitles are terrible translated, esspecially in game settings it looks like from google translator.
