I think living together before marriage is critical!!! So many people donât have a clue what type of person they are marrying - their little nuances or worse bad habits and faults. You need to know how they live, how they deal with stress and a lack of privacy etc.Soooo important

Im 29 and I don't want to get married, ever. I don't want kids either. I almost got married at 22 and found out later on that he cheated on me. I broke up with him and he married her a few months later. A shotgun military wedding. Popped out a kid and then quickly divorced a year later. That could have been me. I like my own life, my own money and my own bed. Plus, some people are DIRTY. The amount of people who don't clean or pick up after themselves...no thank you.

I really cannot express my gratitude but Mary, thanks for what you do. Your latest videos have brought me a lot of comfort. Things like âDonât get me wrong I love a good steak but I like this stuff too!â And 10yrs smoke-free but still have gravings from time to time. I donât mean to be rude, but it really shows that Youâre not a miss perfect coated in glitter and sequience. Youâre a real person. Yes it's awsome to be alone sometimes but it sucks sometimes too. Like u can't really go to a festival or amusement park alone. I wish I had a partner I could put away and ignore till I needed them like a coat.
@@adv1207 why not! People only see you for a fleeting moment, they won't be wondering if you're alone. I go on holiday, out to restaurants to coffee shops etc by myself. Do it!
@@oceanpier restaurants and movies I'm fine going solo. But I went to Universal around Christmas time and specifically harry potter world and I saw this couple maybe mid 30s having the time of thier life having fun like little kids. I think I'm ok being alone cause I haven't found my other half and won't settle for something just so I won't be alone. I've literally gotten into short relationships just so I don't go solo to a events. I'm considering traveling alone though I've heard pros and cons to solo travel.
@@adv1207 I hear ya! I guess I don't see what others are doing as a comparison to where I am. I do not consider myself alone as I think I'm good company, but I didn't used to feel like that. Being married to the wrong person has taught me the value of my own company and it's what I choose for now. Happiness for me is not to have the perfect relationship with someone else, but instead with myself. I love to see other people happy and revel in their experience, but it doesn't make me feel I'm missing out. I'm also quite a personable person so I tend to connect with others. I'm loving getting to know who I am. The saying, 'comparison is the thief of joy' may be a cliché, but it's so very true. Enjoy the journey you're on for now, life changes all the time and I'm sure you'll experience life with another person who is right for you. My last holiday abroad was with myself and I loved it. Ended up meeting a group of young people one night and ended up in a nightclub dancing the night away with them. Mostly that holiday was a beach holiday, I got up for breakfast when I wanted, went to the beach with a book, came back to the hotel for dinner, and then went to bed when I'd had enough.I had a couple of exploration days, but it was mainly an r&r holiday. Youll do fine, and even if you feel a little uncomfortable at times, at least you know you're growing as a person. Much happiness being sent your way.

It's a bummer that vegan food has such a bad reputation. I'm not a vegan myself but quite literally every time I've tried a prepared item from a restaurant or a food truck or something, I've always loved it. And yet i know so many people who wouldn't even be willing to try. That hotdog looks amazing

Agree đŻ! Been happily married for 13 years now (15 years together) and we both did that before we considered getting serious. Love isnât the only thing that is needed for a marriage. People get so caught up in love that forget to be reasonable.

When I was younger I thought people who wanted prenup were cold. Now I'm 37, I've burned myself a few times so now I fully agree. I don't think I could do a background check in my country though. I'm not sure. But a prenup is a good idea. I'm never getting married, like you said, I like to be able to do things without consulting with anyone, I like my house to myself. But if I ever were to get married, prenup would be a number one thing I'd go for.
You can ask them to get the BG check and give it to you.

One of the episodes of Alton Brown's wonderful QQ (formerly Quarantine Quitchen) streams had him making slaw dogs. Not vegan though. I keep meaning to give that a try. This reminded me of that.

I took a big financial hit from my divorce too but like you said it was worth it for the freedom. I have now been married to my new husband for the years. Night and day from the first one. My current husband did a background check on me. Good advice youâve given.
Mary, I really appreciate and respect your advice. Iâd like to request you make a video about what a person needs to know about buying a house. Iâm starting to get to that point in life, but honestly I donât know the first thing about it. No one in my family is a home owner (or very good with money/credit) so I donât have anyone I can trust to talk about it.

I agree with you 100% about credit checks and also stay away from people with criminal records! I am a nurse and I tried to save my last husband from all of his problems because I felt sorry for him and wanted to "save" him lol. I will NEVER marry again! Also, advise was on point, love is there, and that wotn change, but you should always be able to put your terms to your own relationships, so if you need prenups, background and credit chacks and else, you never compromise that... shady people will tell you that love is not real if you dont enter blind into the relationship, always! and like mary said, if the person is flawed, love wont save you and wont change them.
i do believe in love, but never forget love is a feeling, but marriage is a contract, and we dont do business without reading the small type

When I see my friends in North Carolina later this year, I am making them take me to Mikeâs and Biscuit King.
Depending on the part of NC you're in, neither of those may be an option unless you drive a while. Both are in central NC and not really anywhere else.
