My husband grew up in an abusive household with a step dad who beat the hell out of his mom and then would beat the family dog while in a drunken rage. My husband had to run away as a child and hide at all night arcades in the large city that he grew up in or order to not get beat on too. When we had a son and our son grew up enough to have a girlfriend, he told him the rules of being a man-one of which was to never hit a woman. He was like “son, I love you. But just so you know, if you ever beat on a woman-you better hope like hell that the police find you before I do. Because you will be far safer with them than with me.” Needless to say that never became a problem 😂. Ironically my son became of police officer himself just this past year, the irony 😂

First story. How I wish more people had the courage and morals of op. There is still a shame and silence about domestic abuse,it is an horrendous situation to be involved in. Many women (and men) say they stay in a violent relationship because of fear, can you imagine living everyday and every hour waiting for a person you loved to hurt you?. Not one person asks for it and it leaves deep scars in every way. These men and women who show such cruelty are never challenged, never asked to explain themselves and never held accountable for the damage they cause. Apologies by the dozen yet not one bit of true remorse. They ARE monsters that your parents should have warned you of because the one who hurts you isn't the boogy man it's the person you love.

First story's Mother seriously has some nerve. She's just as responsible for the abuse as her husband was. She just let it happen. And then she decided for all of them that her children, the victims, need to forgive their abuser. That's not how that works. Forgiveness is decided by the affected party, on their terms should they choose to do so. Not coerced, bullied, guilt tripped. No "balance the boat" or "be the better person". Either she's not sorry at all or she took too many hits to the skull.

Nature vs Nurture. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way they should, even with all the hard work a parent does to keep their kids on the right path. I’ve heard of parents that raised their kid right or treated their kids equally and somehow that one kid (only-child or has a sibling or more) turns out bad or mentally ill. Son sounds like he’s either bipolar or has a personality disorder, not a simple anger management issue or narcissistic personality disorder. Even after OP gave him the business, he learned absolutely nothing and still chose violence.

You'd be surprised. Some people come from families that have histories of people being lifelong criminals, addicts, and troublemakers, and then out of nowhere, somebody in the _next_ generation just breaks the cycle all on their own, full stop.

Story 1's OP is a terrible father, even if he's a good person. When your first response is to try and beat the shit out of your child until their *victim* has to scream at you to stop, it's not hard to imagine where he might have gotten it from.

S1: seems sus to me, nevermind its totally BS
He beats his son solely based on the gf word with zero evidence and all of his supposed evidence is circumstantial at best
Well anyway its a nice lil bit of creative writing

Story1) I’m probably gonna be told I’m wrong but I think Op is the asshole he assaulted his son he’s no better then his father and I’m not defending the son he’s still wrong for abusing his girlfriend, you want your son to change you don’t beat him up not once but twice you get him help but I’m the end and this just is my opinion I think Op is in the wrong here

I agree with you. And despite OP thinking that his son would be arrested and get beat up in prison, he decided to not bring the gf to press charges and beat the son up himself. Um, great job?

Your mistake is comparing OPs father to OP.
Why did they beat and abuse?
While I agree that OP should have waited until the son swung at him first, so he can claim self defense, you are trying to compare WILDLY different motives.
