What is your favorite Italian dish?
Everything Italy is the MASTER of food!
Polenta e Osei, a typical food in Venice. It's not Easy to find It
Now, I'm hungry! Time to go into the kitchen and prepare traditional Italian dishes from scratch. Thank you for the inspiration!
You are welcome!;)
Amazing food.... from India 🇮🇳
Greetings! I am a fan of all European food and loved this video in particular. I am Pennsylvania Deutch (German American) 🇩🇪 and have visited Germany but never Italy. My last name Balsbach is originally from Baden Wurtenburg and family from both sides emigrated to Pennsylvania from Germany in the 1700s, though unfortunately my generation is the first to not speak German because of discrimination in the US during the World Wars. Though there are many here in South Central Pennsylvania. particularly the Amish and Mennonites who still speak Deutch. My parenrs were members of a German Brethren Church growing up. Our cuisine in my region and other parts of the country is often a mix of German and American traditions.
However when I was in my early 20s, I lived in San Francisco, California. Most of the Italians in Pennsylvania and the Northeastern US are from Southern Italy such as Sicily and Naples, however the immigration Califirnia was from Northern Italy 🇮🇹. I am a trained chef and my first culinary job was a chain of Italian Import Shops and delicatessens in the San Francisco Bay Area. The family that owned it was from Emilia Romagna, and your video made me realize how authentic the foods we sold there were. Items like the Torta di Chocolate, Crostata, Lasagna Bolognese, Tortellini/Tortalone, Taglatelle, Ragu Bologese, Balsamic Vinegar, Prosciutto Di Parma, Parmigiano Regiano, and Mortadella really took me back to that time and place. in my memory I can still remember the flavors and smells.
Keep up the posts, I love seeing your family's travels in Germany and abroad. if I ever make it to Frankfurt I will purchase your walking food tour from online! Cheers!
Mike
PS As an American my favorite Italian dish has to be Pizza 🍕
Oh.. Thanks for this wonderful comment, I am very flattered and glad that this video brought back so many nice memories. I did mention all those foods indeed. Nice that you also have access to those, because the are truly delicious. And I get it - pizza is unbeatable. Although I heard that Americans have got few ways of making them, right?
@@cooking-the-world Yes we have made pizza our own, and there are many different varieties of it in the United States. Pizza is a highly regional thing but also varies from cook to cook. My favorite pizzas are thin and crispy, with just the right balance of ingredients, and a little char on the crust.
I'm from bologna and your list is spectacular! Brava
i'm envious of you folks for all the awesome italian foods you got to try! i didn't know balsamic vinegar is aged that long. learn something new everyday 😊
I also didn't know. Although balsamico dressing is one of my favourite once;) Real balsamic vinegar is made from a reduction of pressed Trebbiano and Lambrusco grapes, therefore is nice and thick and pricy ;) I also found out that those thick balsamico sugar creams are only produced to imitate the real deal, because it also is sweet and sour.
Everything looks so delish!
I like Italian food. Lasagna is my favorite.
Thats true. Lasagna is just hard to beat!
But which lasagna? In the states we go for the one with Ricotta cheese and Beef Ragu, but there are t least 6 traditional types of Lasagna depending on the region of Italy you are in. My husbands Sicilian family made the traditional one from there, which has Eggplant. There are also many variations. In Rome they make one of my favorites, which has Spinach and Bechamel sauce. Every one I have tried has been a winner
@@beckysimeone4882 you're right, in Italy we tend to define lasagna as Bolognese but there are also more than 6. They make the same mistake with Genovese pesto. my wife (we are from bologna) in addition to the classic one, makes one with a porcini cream base, fried bacon cut into julien strips. wonderful
The day I was waiting for - seeing little Max enjoying good food! What a darling!!! Coming from St Louis (who has the last Little Italy in the USA) and marrying an Italian I have been very fortunate to eat some of the best of Italy without leaving home. I judge Italian restaurants on their Eggplant Parmesan. Oh my goodness, their desserts are to die for🍰🍧🥧!
He is very skeptical when trying new foods:) not sure if that’s normal;) oh, in this case I probably didn’t show you anything new! Hope it was still fun to Watch!
@@cooking-the-world I think little ones being skeptical about new foods is very common. My 3 yr old grandson, Santino, studies everything carefully and if it doesn't look right to him says "Nope" and absolutely refuses to try it. But when they like something they use every facial muscle and their joy is very evident.
I love all pasta, oh my goodness these all look so delicious, especially the tortellini, enjoyed this video Marta! 🤗💗
Thanks!
Awesome video! thanks for sharing your experience with such great food.
Thanks for watching! That was one of the most delicious trips that we have taken.
Everything look wonderful. Yes, the fresh noodles make the difference. As for balsamic vinegar, I have taken a similar tour. Two best dishes I know, roasted balsamic honey Brussels sprouts and roasted chicken with balsamic sauce and salad. Simple but the flavor comes out. Glad your trip went well, nothing beats being home. Max is getting bigger and I think he enjoyed the trip.
Thanks for the tips! Both look extreamly tasty. Good that I still have some brussels sprouts in my freezer:) yes, Max seems to be fine wherever we go. As soon as one of us is around is all fine 😃 this is tiring, but sweet at the same time.
I really love your videos! My favourite italian dish is simply pizza prosciutto!
But once you go back making videos about Germany again, please consider doing one more video or two on dishes from Saxony; theres so much out there, especially Quarkkeulchen etc
Thanks Daniel! I also love this kind of pizza! Actually we went to Saxony one year ago and I filmed many Saxonian specialities (inclusive Quarkküchlein). You can check it out if you have a moment: czcams.com/video/o69YWcenja4/video.html. I would kill for Quarkküchlein right now.
That looks like one tasty trip 😋 Good to see young Max getting involved 😀
Hahaha 😛 thanks for watching
You have such resolve! You skipped the Carbonara and Manicotti. It is fun to see your son growing up and helping Mom and Dad on their journeys and filming :)
This was amazing. Grew up in Chicago a few blocks from the original little Italy. Went to restaurants there that had photos of people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and the rest of the Rat pack. Loved dishes with ragu and Bolognese sauce. Got recipes for an amazing lasagna and other dishes from Bruna's still open since 1933.
Wow, tis is very cool. But I thought that the pizza in Chicago is prepared diffrently, is that right?
Have you ever noticed that when you go out to eat, you analyze dishes, especially those you like, wanting to recreate them later for yourself? Favorite Italian dish? I couldn't even think of going there. There's too many excellent that I couldn't pick a specific one. One thing though that stands out is the quality of pasta in Italy. It's just better if original Italian hand-made. Btw, nice to see some of Max, he's sure has grown. I know he can be troublesome at that age. But, if you're like me, you'll look back at this time as some of the best years.
Thanks Michael. Yes you are right. The quality of the pasta is extraordinary. And it makes every pasta dish taste much better 😍 and yes, Max is for the moment on discovery tour and therefore unstoppable. But I appreciate it because I always discover something with him;)
I don’t know how I managed to miss this video because I love Italian food and wine. I never traveled to Bologna, but I’ve been all around Tuscany, Rome, and Veneto. I think my favorite dish is the pasta carbonara. I had it in three different places in northern Italy. A little different in each place, but all excellent. Each place said there’s was the best in Italy 😂
Italian food features a masterful blend of flavors and just the right amount of seasoning. I think EVERYONE likes Italian dishes!
Agree!
Lovely post Marta, I missed it because we were out for mothers day.
Thank you! This is important day to celebrate, so thats fine :)
hey guy's . as you know or not ,, i am from Montreal , our ragout is . meat balls /pigs feet / and a brown gravy , served over mashed potatoes . look me up if you come to Alberta, cheers p/s , we eat it on new years
Thanks Larry, we will! And thanks for sharing and watching, the ragout sounds delicious!
I love lasagna but I'm tempted to make tortolloni with spinach and ricotta.
Lucky lucky!! Here in Canada not so lucky.. .your a hope step into Italy.. please feed your son!
Ich bekomme Hunger 🤤
Hahahah! ich auch. Sogar mehrfach 😅
Wow nice to see you travel! I thought you left Germany for Italy! hehe Nice to see hungry baby!!!
Thanks GUTOM. Oh was nice to eat something different for a change 😉
And yes, baby eats a lot and eats everything what we put on his plate 😉
Looks incredible ,who doesn't like Italian to many to list. And did Google it Pizza is from Naples. 🙂The pastries looked delicious.
Thanks Tim! Yes! Naples, we need to visit that city next time. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, Italian ingredients cooked with German fashioned flavors is my style . Yeah Its unusual for me to make Italian food . Yeah it is good and tasty
i love seafood fetuccine.
I was planning to make a day trip to Bologna but looks like I'll have to stay a couple of days😋. Those pastries near the end of your video look so yummy! Can you share the name of the pastry shop where you guys ate the Torta di Riso? I definitely want to try it when I visit Bologna next year.
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, if you are as crazy about food as we are few days would be good. We didnt want to leave! So I checked on my iphone the address to you and it was in Pasticceria D'Azeglio. The desserts were pretty pricy, but they had all regional and Italian specialities. And tít was great that those were so small, because we were able to try more different once which is always a plus for traditional food lovers.
@@cooking-the-world Perfect! Thanks for the shop name! Will definitely check them out.
I have momentarily forgotten about the dishes featured here when I saw the adorable baby Max 😍🥺🥰 I was wondering when will we see him and then viola! 😀. The English cake and torta looks so good (I’d say we have a Filipino version of torta since there are lots of desserts back home that are made of rice and or rice flour). Still thinking where is the best and close to authentic Italian cuisine in Florida haha
Yes Korina, Max is so sweet. For the moment constantly on discovery tour, so i would appreciate if those highchairs had safety belts so he doesnt climb anywhere 😅 because holding him not always works 😂 oh, sure, you do a lot with rice flour, also desserts I suppose. l actually thought that there are a lot of Italian immigrants so you have access to some of those wonderful dishes. Not in Florida?;)
Casareccio in italian means homemade, for example cucina casareccia, homemade cuisine style, can be found in a Trattoria
Thanks Luigi
The link to the pdf doesn't work anymore
hello, the grass you see in the weed is not rosemary but parsley. rosemary should never be added to pasta but only to baked or grilled dishes and potatoes.
TAGLIATELLE, not tagiatelle. And GRAMIGNA, not graminga. 😈😉
Thanks Massimo and forgive my spelling
@@cooking-the-world Don't worry about the way you spelled it! It's obvious that you loved it and that's what's important!
