Through this channel we help travelers and hobby chefs who share our passion for local food, to find traditional recipes and places to eat authentic food.
In 2013 Marta and Matthias met at ballroom dancing classes and discovered that they both have a bigger hobby than dancing - food. One year later they created a cooking blog where they have been publishing their favourite traditional recipes. Marta has learned cooking from her grandma and mom. Food was an essential part of her family’s life, and the traditional dishes bring a lot of memories.
Matthias has also been enjoying his time in the kitchen with his grandma since childhood. In high school, he had chosen cooking as a subject, where he learnt the basics. By the age of 16, he was already preparing festive meals for his family on holidays, and this tradition has been continued! It is undoubtedly that eating is Marta and Matthias’ biggest hobby, which became a profession in 2018.

My favorite in Unterfranken was Zwetschgenkuchen, plum cake. It was not too sweet. Most of the cakes are not too sweet. That is why one can enjoy more than one piece. My second favorite is Stollen. Also, not too sweet. When my German friends came to visit in the U.S., someone gave them brownies. Later, I overheard them saying, "Zu suess." Too sweet! Also, in Germany, I really appreciated and developed a taste for real whipped cream.

Looks great but you shouldn't wrap the steaks after pulling from the pan, they will steam and ruin the amazing crust you spent all that time making

I'm Canadian and 70 y-o. my mom used to make the best sauerkraut ever, my dad was Russian my mom was German, of course, I love her receipt. I always love sauerkraut and eat it with many different meals I bake, my younger brother doesn't like it at all. I sometimes make my version of it, but if I leave some for other meals my brother often throws it in the garbage, he hates the sight and odor of it.
You should fry the bacon cubes before the cabbage so the bacon is correctly done. In the video it's only warmed up.

...boiled in water brussel sprouts and broccoli, then chopped and extra virgin olive oil applied and mixes up. Basmati white rice cooked and placed in pasta bowl, separate made and the brussel sprouts and broccoli placed in the middle, then small amount of pink Himalayan salt applied and a bit of soy sauce, to respond to your request...
Never throw away the peeling stuff like from onions carrots and so on. You can use it to cook a very tasty "Gemüsefond/Gemüsebrühe". So you don't have to use the shitty instantpowder. ;)

Ich bin wieder ein kleines Kind, und wenn ich in die Stadt gehe, ist das so, als würde man spielen, und das Weihnachtsessen ist eine Ratte, die über einem Kamin sitzt. Ich erinnere mich, dass es Tischreihen und eine Hierarchie der Sitzplätze gab, weil ich nie am Kindertisch vorbeikam, der ganz am Ende, fast in der Küche, als Kartentisch diente. Trotzdem war die gebratene Ratte immer noch lecker. Dazu gab es meist Kartoffelpuffer. Mein Onkel sorgte dafür, dass alle Kinder zwei Schuss Schnaps bekamen. Oh, das gute Leben!
Sorry, this type of "Mettwurst" is not raw, it has been smoked, is also called "Bratwurst" in other parts of Germany and should in no way be confused with "Mett" from the butcher, which is typically sold with raw onions Not only does it taste different, what you see in the video can be kept in the fridge for a good 2 weeks, 2 week old "Mett" from the butcher will 100% put you in the hospital

My mother and oma just used to have the dough in a bowl, held it over the boiling water and then used a soup spoon to make the noodles. That is the was I do it too, and looks like the examples you have there. I mainly make them for soup. One of the favourite things from my childhood.

There are so many delicious ways to make potatoes but my favorite would have to be baked and loaded with butter, sour cream, parsley and either some seasoned ground beef or bacon and a side of broccoli. Mashed with brown gravy is up there too. I gotta try those beef broth dumplings.
