WOW! I never heard of bread dumplings but now I want to try them!
Thank you for these recipes. A friend made knödel for me many years ago and I loved them. Now I will make some myself.
Thanks Susan! I included recipes in the description box! The spinach dumplings is my most view recipe ;)
Super super cool! Thank you for sharing dumpling recipes. Hi from California!…
👍
Thanks Pat!
Marta: Thank you so much for these recipes! I can’t wait to try them this week. They remind me of my German grandmothers cooking. Be well.
Thanks Rob. In the description I included recipes to my cooking blog for spinach, bacon and the classic variation ☺️
Looks great Marta.
Thanks Tim as always!
Those spinach dumplings look delicious. Each was amazing, but have bread and spinach making these in a few moments
Hope they turned out Great 😎
I couldn't pick just one!! They all look delicious! Will have to try making them soon! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thanks Gloria. Let me pick for you - Spinach Dumplings 🤩
These look so good. I think even a dope like me can make these. Can't wait!😎
Hahahaha!
Hmmm don't think I've made with spinach. But the others... plenty enough. My favorite? Refried of course. I always make too many, just so I've got enough leftovers to cut up and fry, the next days after. But also, how about Zwetschkenknödel, and Apfelknödel? With vanilla sauce, yum, yum. (For the Amis reading this, it's (kind of) a stuffed bread pudding in ball form, either boiled or fried. And just like bread pudding, made with recycled bread, not dough like doughnuts.)
Oh i have never had those with semmel Teig ;) I thought it usually potato or Quark dough. I never found a good recipe to make those. Maybe I should try making them as you suggest ;)
They looked yummy ill try it one day soon🙏🏻💜
Thank you very much!
Morning Marta, I haven't made any of these for years. We never used rundstuck just normal stale bread. My cousins mum, Tante Inga did a variety with stale graubrot that I've never seen anywhere else.
Oh i have also made dumplings from the graubrot. This also works really well!
I will definitely make these. I have been looking for something that I can fill with sage.
(:
There you go. I would like this twist 😉
They all look pretty good.
Hahahaha Mark, yes, they taste even better. Especially with butter on the top :)
@@cooking-the-world Iam sure they do
Love them. I have had two others. I believe one was in Czech otr Poland. One was made with pumpernickel bread and the other had a pretzel taste. My favorite is fried with butter and serve with button or porcine mushroom sauce. Enjoy Christmas season coming up!!
Thanks Paul! Oh now I wonder about those dumplings you mentioned! Pretzel dumpling would probably be Max favorite 😋
@@cooking-the-world I remember the pretzel taste. It was special. I guess yoy would have to grind them up.
what a nice surprise to see you on my monday morning! the spinach ones looked the best to me! the nutmeg is a nice touch. you didn't say what to do IF the first spinach dumpling didn't hold up, lol 🤠 have you done a video on potato dumplings? i don't remember...
Yes Skip, few weeks ago I made video about regional variations of potato dumplings;) yes so you need an egg if it doesn’t hold up 😛
Hi Marta. What a lovely set of recipes. I do like dumplings in a saucy dish too 😃 My dumplings usually use suet and are cooked in the stew (it's a British thing, I guess)
Never tried spinach but it looks good
Is suet similar to lard? I cannot recall using it ;)
If you want to try the spinach dumplings in the description box I have a link to my blog. Don’t forget good amount of brown butter on the top, this really makes the dish 🤩
@@cooking-the-world - Thanks Marta; I'm looking forward to trying that. Suet is the dried fat from kidneys. Atora is the famous brand but lard would be a good substitute. It can be used in sweet or savoury pastry and is used in the mincemeat for mincemeat pies at Christmas. All the best from Dublin

Bread Dumplings is about the same as Peanut Butter, it can Test Good with something Sweet or a Big Steak 🥩 for real, my Brothers and Sisters.
If you have dumplings left, fry them and then put them in teriyaki sauce and roll them in sesam seeds and spring onions.
That would be interesting! Japan meets Germany ;)
Hi from NC. I have a question about all 4 recipes. Do you let the bread soak in warm milk on all the recipes before adding the other ingredients?
Yes! And hi from Frankfurt :)
hey Marta , can you cook the dumplings in with the main dish ? instead of water, cheers
Like a soup? I haven’t seen something like that. The traditional ways would be the once included in this video. The classic variation is usually served as a side. Spinach, cheese and bacon are usually last over dishes and therefore served as a main.
