- A mostly STOCK Low Mileage 2000 Honda Civic Coupe in 2023? It can't be possible?! In today's video, we highlight this 34,000 Mile Civic SURVIVOR! Old lady driven, garage stored, and tastefully modified with OEM parts. What a rarity! Enjoy!
A few years back, my friend Gabe picked up this insanely mint 2000 EJ8 Coupe. I knew at some point I needed to make a review of this car because it's rather shocking to see. At this point in 2023, almost every 90's Golden Era Honda has been through hell and back. Spray painted, engine swapped, totaled 3 times over, and filled with Black Ice air fresheners. You know, the Honda that your girlfriend warned you about.
Simply put, this 2000 Civic has survived over 23 Years in stock form while being well cared for. So in this video, I give you a walkaround of the Civic, and highlight both the exterior, interior, OEM parts, and of course...go for a drive! Even 23 Years later, this Civic drives like a dream. The shifter, clutch, and D16Y8 VTEC motor are buttery smooth. Every button on the interior clicks like new, and the smell is 90's plastic perfection.
I know I don't make review of other cars often, but I knew my audience would love to see this. So my question to you is, what would YOU do with a 34,000 Honda Civic Coupe? Drive it? Swap it? Store it? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you to Gabe for letting me steal his Honda for this video, I promise I only cracked VTEC once...twice....ok three times.
Check out Gabe's IG here: mint_jdm
Thanks for watching!

Definitely more impressive to leave it as is and just take it to meets so others can appreciate it. That’s basically a classic car at this point, so to do anything irreversible or increase the mileage would be unfortunate.
I can agree with that!
I got a historic plate on mine lol
I own a 2000 civic ex and it had 300K miles and ran like a beauty but I wanted more power so I GSR swapped it and I absolutely love it.
lol as long as the shell and frame are good you can just keep swapping engines
How much did it cost to swap jw? I have a 05 and my trans literally exploded cuz I have the horrid auto.
also any electrical issues for you? Recently it just stopped powering up fully and won’t even crank I gotta wiggle the ignition fuse😭
@@gsjourney3054 I was lucky enough to get the engine, manual tranny, and swap it for 5k.
@@gsjourney3054 No electrical issues for me so far but praying nothing happens like that. Does it click when your trying to start up your car cause it could jus be the battery
Hi, i'm from Mexico, i have a Civic EM1 2000, the same color of the video, with the same rear spolier, so looks the same, my car have original 34,000 milles, and it is also 100% stock. I don't use it, only 2 or 3 days AT the year. I am the first owner of that car, and i love to look my car kept in the garage, of course o have very lovely memories of that when i Was in the university. Thanks for the video.
The em1 only came red blue and black tho
The fact they still exist is baffling to me
Few and far between!
My 96 has higher miles and looks the same as Anthony’s car like completely stock ej6
I own a 96 civic dx. Dark grey interior and red exterior. I’m honestly surprised she is still running. She wasn’t in the best shape when I got her a year ago
2000 honda civic lx 267 miles got my work done in mexico with us dollars
@ALLDAYANTHONY is that a sunroof or moonroof on that honda and what's looks better on the civics?
That EX is amazing. It deserves to live on unmolested. I have a silver '98 HX / CVT that I bought new in April 1998. After six years of renewing the car w/OEM parts, it runs and drives great again at 210K. Best thing I did was rebuild the tired suspension. It was like a new car after that.
Junkyards are great for these cars right now. You can essentially piece together a decent civic from many other civics haha
Love this, I'm the original owner of an 2005 RSX and I've kept everything stock except the wheels and car audio system. It was my daily until I bought my 2018 Audi S5. I actually split the time between the two, 141k miles on the RSX and 48k on the Audi...
Keep that thing stock! 😆
That’s tough. Last year I got a 98 HX all stock. Love the wheels on it. I tried to leave it stock but it didn’t look as great. Just lower it in coil overs, lip, grill. That’s it. Looks great and still clean.
Amen
hes done good with it already. just drive it. i just picked up a 68k 94 integra ls. hubcaps and steelies. switched it over to some hx wheels i had, some new tires and brakes and a basic tuneup and shes driving. all stock otherwise. its so small i love it.
That’s a good find for a teggy!
It feels illegal being this early to one of your videos. I’m always days late.
Not always bad to come early. Wait…
If this was my car I'd try to keep it as is. This car is beautiful as it is . I probably wouldn't use it as a daily. I have a 2000 Acura Integra ls 5 speed that I bought with 84 k miles on it. I love that car. That stays in my garage 24 7
This video brought back so many memories! It looks just like my first car which is a 2000 civic EX in VSM as well. I bought it with 90k miles on it 8 years ago and exactly what he did to the vehicle. All OEM EM1 parts with a bunch of Honda OEM Accessories like the OEM Foglights.
Such a cool (and beautiful) piece of Honda culture man. And as always, thanks for giving us great content like this 🖤
So cool to see this!! I’d pay just about anything for a 95 EX coupe in blue green metallic that’s this clean and low mileage. That’s the car I bought myself brand new when I graduated high school back in 95. Kept it for 10 years and traded it in on a four wheel drive extended cab Ranger. I’d give anything to have it back! Still love 90’s Hondas to this day.👌🏽🔥🔥🔥
Definitely drive the heck out those si wheelscand leave it for the weekend while I daily my other couple. LOVE these videos man. Just replaced the valve cover gasket on mine now I can't wait to drive her. I been on the tl for 3 tears time to go back to 98 yall
Keeping a car in a garage and out of the sun makes a huge difference in longevity. I’ve already had to replace my window molding on my 2017 Si.
Agreed. Most Hondas don’t get the luxury of a garage though
That plus newer cars being made out of garbage ass cheap materials
Looks just like mine, running strong with 107k miles and still pretty mint imo! So cool!
Still plenty of life at 107k
Keep it! Drive it every weekends 🤟
i think i was never more envious in my life. what a perfect car! wish i had that piece of art
I never saw such a good and stock just like this, its my dream car.
I think if someone gift something like this i couldnt mod anything.
I would mod another beater coupe but not this one,i would go to meets and show this beauty.
Congrats on the owner keep this baby safe.
At this point, I would keep it mint. Let it be the last pinnacle, the last of the 90’s!
Love seeing this 🎉
Super awesome that is crazy sickkk!!💯🤙I would store it
Drool. So clean!
I figured this car would be up your alley!
crazy how similar my civic is to this one, other than my 294k miles and common honda sun damaged paint, my civic is relatively oem+ and is still well preserved considering its my daily. I hope to keep mine as oem+ to this one as these civics become a classic.
I’m glad it’s served you well!
That’s a beauty!
That’s so funny how you got exited over the window speed lol but yeah those window tracks get gunked and get slower over time
I was jazzed about that lol.
What a clean exemple 🚗💥💨🔥
thats my exact car right there, beautiful
Looks nice and clean 👍
amazing \o/
I see a decent amount of stock civics here in the Netherlands, mainly hatches though. But i'd say they're either bone stock, riced out to a point they're useless, or pretty nice, around here.
But they're rarely in this nice of a condition.
I had a 99 clover green pearl ej8 and id finish this car like i had planned with mine before it got totaled...ground control coilovers(slightly stiffer than ek9 springs) with all the spc alignment adjustment parts. Em1 rear sway bar, 200tw tires and a jackson racking supercharger on e85 flex fuel.
Awesome car honestly the best ever made these models always look so good to me I have a 99’ EX automatic but she’s great
Nice! My 2000 EX just hit 60k miles.
Yo what a beautiful civic !! Love that he put si mags!! Nice touch!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It looks super clean on the silver
I would keep this completely stock besides the OEM EM1/EK9 add ons. I would even go as far as swapping this to a fully stock b16 swap.
I would def keep it as is. Keep it stock.
Keep it as is!! That thing is a gem 🤤
thats a beauty man
Very clean!
Nice 👍🏽
I have a 2000 silver EX coupe (5 speed manual) just like this. Everything works, and i bought it from the original owner when it had 87,000 miles. Clean Florida car, absolutely no rust. I have been daily driving the car for a few years and have put apnost 100,000 miles on it myself. Absolutely love this car. Its been stock long enough, and I can't wait it completely transform it shortly, but I will miss having it stock/super reliable.
You also found a killer deal on that!
@@ALLDAYANTHONY $3500 at the time, think I did alright compared to what these go for now lol
It’s an amazing machine!
So mint!
I got my civic Ex at 76,000 miles and everything is original on it still and the body is decent for seating so long, I have few plans to clean it up like he did, but right I’ve just been driving it and enjoying it like you should.👍
*98 Honda civic ex*
I had a 91 DX hatchback. I took it to the dealer for a recall. While I was waiting, I looked around the lot and left in a new 96 silver EX coupe. I loved that car, but it was stolen after less than 2 years. Fast forward to today, I have a 13 LX sedan with 396,000 miles on it. I should pass 400,000 next month. My first Civic was a 77. Red with chrome bumpers, a wooden steering wheel and hounds tooth seat covers. I've loved every one I've owned!
That’s amazing!! Sounds like you’ve experienced some good times in them
I love ek civics and i cant wait till i finish my k24 swap on my 99 ex coupe !
Sounds awesome man!
We didn’t get these in Malaysia, only the sedan ones. One of my lecturers at Uni is a total Honda head. He imported this model and alternately drive it to work with his s2k. Cool dude
I have a 99 ek coupe with a Boosted D series engine that I have owned since 2000. I love the power it makes and really brought the car to life but I could not modify this one with such low miles if I owned it. Its too perfect to mess with.
I drove one for a while!! I miss it!
I'm gonna be that one guy and reference an old Conan O'Brien episode..... "In the year twoooo-thousand".... You are not wrong though, I often wonder what the hell I do with my car sometimes but it generally sits in a garage 95% time of the year. It has a bit more miles on it than I'd prefer but it is most definitely fun to go out and rip of some tarmac once in awhile!
Bessie😭 I will take this series personally. Still have to replace the transmission in my 05 coupe but my brother had this Honda before the 05 and it’s so surreal. Literal best car ever. It hurts me to watch it sit but I need to think logical cuz 6-8k on a 18 year old car isn’t too smart.
I hope he cares for it and changes nothing. It’s gold.
I remember when this was for sale. I wanted it but couldn't get to the dealership in time. Ended up buying a white 89,000 mile 2000 ex manual with spoiler and fogs from factory.
What a beauty.... nice man!🎉🎉🎉 keep it and save for children
I have the exact rear wing on my 1999 civic Sedan... Not very low mileage but the engine is relatively stock. The engine was a D15z4. The only changes that were made were the intake, the headers and the paint job.
The OEM SI wheels there is called the SiR wheels in the Philippines (the honda civic SiR is a sedan variant equipped with the B16A2 and the sportiest model released in the Philippines, which only 3000 were made)
Still have my 1998 honda civic ex coupe. 229k miles and still running great. Have maintained it for years. I use the car for backup use.
Still have my 98 ex coupe I bought in high school 12 years ago. 170k miles!
1999 civic si owner with 284k miles, completely stock and still pretty clean for what it is
Man Anthony this coupe is stupid clean 🧼 I had a silver one back in 2017 and did the exact same thing with oem em1 parts. I regret selling that bad boy because I loved the silver with Si wheels 🥰 I would enjoy it and drive it, I wouldn’t modify it at all. That’s what I do with my em1 I just have it parked and drive it when I turn it on and sits back in the garage. Keep up the great videos!!💯 #showusyourfacebrother
This car basically holds its value extremely well and could sell for 20k or more because of its absolutely AMAZING condition...Civics really can hold up for a long time can't they?
Yessir, and it’s always great to own something that’s simple and so commonly known, if you run into a issue there’s a big chance there’s a tutorial to fix that exact issue, I’m currently trying to save up $ to get my first Honda.
This makes me miss my EK4 97 so much.
Kudos to the owner for not modding it to crazy numbers and keep it stock!
I think Matt from Obsessed Garage is about to pop out the check book.
This car brings back good memories of my old 96 accord that I had 3/4 years ago with only 45k on the clock. I really regret selling that car.
Man I love this civic body. Timeless look
Agreed!!
Just some good suspension work to make it more responsive and call it a day 💪
I have my 98 Acura EL, He is in his forever home now hehe
My the buttons in my ‘02 Accord and ‘05 Accord were absolutely mint with no wear at all with over 300k miles on both. My ‘14 Accord all the steering wheel controls were worn at about 50k miles. Unfortunately, Hondas aren’t built as well as they used to be.
Oh man that car is so sweeeeeet
What he did is enough just keep it as is,as far as driving it that's totally up to him if he want to keep it as a collector, me I would wanna drive it on nice sunny days but I'll be scared to crash it cause there's always someone who thinks he's Mario Andretti.
Instantly liked the video before watching
Hope you enjoyed it!
It’s beautiful
Hey anthony have you ever driven the 8th gen k24 honda accord with the 5 speed auto? I'm just curious because my grandma has one with 81,000 miles and it's a 2009! but I am on the east coast and I'm in new jersey
when i bought my 1998 EJ9 Civic a month ago, it had 17 500 KM and it was 100% stock
I'm rebuilding my 97 ex. Should have just pushed it into the river. lol (I'm a little frustrated) This car is amazing.
Nice! Keep it stock. Just drive it. It’s a tool at the end of the day. I still drive a ‘98 Accord EXLV6. Bought it new in ‘98. Everything is functional and held up fantastic. Just replaced the timing belt and tensioner due to age not mileage. Keep fluids changed and add some AT-205 to you oil, trans, and PS. To keep the rubber seals conditioned and it will drive almost forever. Leave the Civic as is, maintain it, and enjoy it. Drive it!!!
When I got my 2008 Civic Si it had 8k miles. It now has 21k miles but I changed the wheels, added an intake, Reflashed Hondata, and a Yonaka Catback. I think I’m done. I’d keep this one exactly as it is, but maybe a Yonaka Catback or something subtle like that.
beauty
It’s a good looking car!
Looks amazing. I have a silver (VSM) Sir (EM1) in Canada 🇨🇦. Think Canada and Mexico only got EM1’s in silver.
That car clean
Anthony is back
One of our customers at the shop I used to work at had a 40k mile 96 accord. Owner also died and her friend inherited it.
I would replace the sterring, push start with modern radio with reverse camera and change the speaker. With that stock looks nice its easy to steal.
Living in france trying to find 1 is more difficult than learning the language. Hope i can find 1, been looking long enough
This makes me miss my '97 Civic EX...had to give it up because i couldn't afford to fix the engine. Picked it up for $700 w/only 60k miles. Last owner went to get an oil change for cheap & they screw it up 🤦🏽♂️
Nice dude. I just bought a 90 civic wagon with 70k on it
I’m jelly!
I bought that same one but 4 door with 43k on it and it was the best decision I’ve ever made she looks completely different now but in a respectable way
That’s awesome!!
🔥🔥🔥 I would sir swap it but keep all the stock parts
Nice coupe !!
I have 65000km sedan in japan
Man if I had that car I'd keep it just the way he has it set up in the video. While it would be a really nice platform for a build or a swap of some kind, we see that kind of stuff all the time. I've seen them boosted, I've seen them K swapped, I've even seen one J swapped. But what I have never seen is one all original in this good of condition. It would definitely be a weekend/cars and coffee car for me. I wouldn't touch it.
What is the front lip called? or like the front bumper? it looks way better than the original.
Not me wishing i made more money so i can fix up my 03 civic.. its my daily but i love the car to death. Issue is, im broke, dont know enough about cars to fix it myself yet and dunno how to find the best parts i can for prices. So every time I see these videos i get excited and sad at the same time.
2003 Civic with 285,000 miles on it and still running.
That's funny, I just found and bought a 98 SI with 80k from a older lady. This thing is damn near prestine, the interior is perfect and it's always been in a garage, her son left to Germany and left it.
Does the civic coupe auto d16y8 sohc have ABS system?
Where did you find this gem man? 🥰🔥
I just bought one 2 weeks ago and restoring it now.
Awesome! Have fun with it!
It’s insane but if you look you will find them although not cheap. Right around COVID summer of 2020 my stepfather bought a 1994 Honda Civic Sedan DX auto that had 38k original miles. As you can guess it was stock and unmolested but now that I realize it was a treasure to the right person. Only thing it needed was a new window since it was broken into before he bought it. Shame he sold it for $2500 not a spec of rust on that car or else I would’ve bought it before PRICES went out of control for cars in general.
I REALLY HOPE YOU READ THIS MAN..
So my mom had a 99 Civic EX coupe that was red back when they were brand new we did all the exact same exterior mods that you see on this she had the OEM wing like what he has we put the 99 Civic si wheels front lip painted side skirts and grill to match to basically make it a SI clone.... We also did a true full cold air intake header and full exhaust similar to your build
She used to take me to the STREET RACES HERE NEAR SEATTLE AND RACE IT😂😂 when I was a teenager in the early early 2000s
She absolutely loved that car it was tastefully modded just like this one very similar just red like yours also had coilovers on it like yours
She absolutely loved that car her plans were to do a b16 swap or GSR swap and make it a true EM1 clone and then was going to pass it down to me when I turned 16 in like 2007
But unfortunately her boyfriend at the time wrecked it two months before I turned 16 and I've built many Hondas sense then..... currently have a 95 Civic EX coupe I've had for over 10 years that's a built track car
But I've always wanted to find another mint 99 to 2000 Civic EX and make it an a SI clone just like yours or actually get her a 99 Civic SI like she always wanted
I just know a car like this would seriously bring back memories for her and me
She currently has a 2012 Civic SI that she's had since brand new and I've done cold air intake headers full exhaust and a lot of other goodies on it for her
But I know her and me both miss the simplicity of that 99 Civic I think doing mods like what's done to this one or even done to yours is perfectly fine
IF I HAD THIS CAR I would do the exact mods that he has done visually and maybe a few more closer to your car like cold air headers full exhaust because all those parts are reversible and would just make it a little more fun maybe even a set of coilovers or lowering springs tint the windows and call it a day.... that way you could always put it back to stock and I know my mom would love to get the chance to drive one again and I would probably end up giving it to her or doing a full b16 swap for her but I'm sure she'd be plenty happy with that super low mileage single cam VTEC with just intake headers exhaust again
That’s an awesome story! Your mom sounds like a cool chick!
I agree with the others that suggested do not do anything to that car, take it to sbows, swap meets and whatever and let folks drool over that car. I feel there will never be another one as nice as that pop up.
My 1997 civic lx sedan still running strong 140k original miles 5 speed
It would be cool to see a roll race between this and your red civic to see if your modifications have made it a tad bit faster, even with higher miles.
My civic feels faster, but that’s just the butt dyno
Late to the party, bought my 2000 EJ6 civic sedan with 56,000kms (34,000miles). I bought off a grandma for 3900.
Super clean but I highly recommend he replace the timing belt due to its age. Definitely wouldnt want that belt to snap!
