      Have a few tricks to that one without using the explody bois. Save the fuel tank from the previous arena and grab the one there to have 3. There are 4 waves, first just soldiers and shield bois, second has a whiplash coming from the exit door, third a spider boi from the entrance and the final the two mancubi from both. This should give you some direction and preparation for them dropping in. With the mancubi, freeze one of them and go chainsaw the other one with your 3 fuel. Should immediately eliminate one and give some crowd control. Then use a chrono strike assault rifle shot to take the cannons off the other one to make it less threatening. Just yeet a grenade around the arena to elongate some trash to make it easier as well.

The first wall, to monkey bar around the corner, is what ruined my flow and.............my controller.

Shotgun ballista are ur best friends late game. And early game first 3 levels save up ur upgrade points to use it on the rocket launcher lock on and scope mod . The doom hunter I used the super shotgun first phase, it does like 1/4 of the doom hunters health if all pellets land close range. And second phase lock on mod pretty much insta kills. I hate arachnotrons in the first parts of the campaign

    • @baconwrapple8733
      @baconwrapple8733 Před 4 lety +21

      Ding Dong here’s a tip for the first few arachnotrons. You can easily skip the first three arachnatrons in the level. When you first get your chainsaw, you’ll face an arena right after filled with possessed, imps, and zombie men. When you first pickup the chainsaw, it is fully charged so it has 3 uses. In the arena, there is one gas canister (so +1 use). In that arena, you mainly want to just use the sticky grenades on the shotgun, and make sure you only chainsaw ONCE and that you do not pick up the gas canister in that arena. One you finish that arena, your chainsaw should be at 2/3 fuel, and then you should go pick up the gas canister that you purposely didn’t pick up to be at 3/3 fuel again. Head forward and kill the priest. Continue forward and run past everything up until the first arachnotron. Assuming you didn’t chainsaw any of the fodder on your way there, you can immediately kill the arachnatron with the chainsaw. After that kill all the enemies in that area as you would, but make sure you do NOT pick up the gas canister in that area. By now the gate should open up, letting you get the heavy cannon, before you grab it, let your chainsaw refill back up to 1/3 fuel, then pick up the gas canister that you purposely didn’t pick up. You should be at 2/3 fuel. Pick up the heavy cannon and move forward. There’s one more mandatory combat arena before you can grab the yellow key card, and it includes an arachnotron. Once you go past the giant fallen bell and you get to the wide open area that usually has the fodder infighting, immediately run past all of them and pick up the gas canister in that area, and you should be at 3/3 fuel. Immediately jump down and chainsaw the arachnotron. Kill all the enemies in that area, grab the yellow key card and proceed as usual into the subway. When you get to the section where the arachnotron spawns down there in the subway, just run past it straight to the mod pot and get the precision bold for the heavy cannon. Pray you don’t get stuck or shot as you run to the mod bot. Once you get the scope, grab you grenade launcher and just move forward. Ignore most of the enemies in the subway. By now you should have the shotgun, heavy cannon with mod, and grenade launcher, thus making the rest of this level marginally easier. Using this strategy let’s you consistently get past hell on earth.
      Found it on reddit you might have some use for it :)

    This actually gives me a little more faith in beating ultra nightmare. I honestly didnt think I'd be up to it getting trounced in the first room twice by imps and soldiers, but I kept getting a little bit farther each time after that, and a lot of what you went over in this video are things I've been finding out on my own, but really makes a lot of the last pieces fit into place for me mentally. I'm glad I was on the right track with things like the weapon points and runes, and I'm SUPER glad I'm not the only one who considers cultist base to be the real final gate to continuing the run. Mancubus and cacademons have been my bane, and whiplashes have always been a pain in my ass, so seeing someone else give real credence to their threat and damage output really gives some relief that "no, its not because I suck, they just deal insane damage, or can ping-pong you around and combo you out of existence and everyone struggles with them at that point in the game." Really liked the explanation of the importance of having those tight weapon groups on the keyboard too. I've been using the weapon wheel just because I havent made it past the cultist base in my run, so I can see how that would be essential later in the campaign to get that worked out ahead of time for when I get those weapons. Cheers mate, glad I saw your vid.

    I already beat ultra nightmare. I never even looked up any tips videos for it. Quick switching isn't everything. I only used it for the marauder fights. I used my ssg on demons from fodder up to the arachnotron. When it comes to heavy demons, rocket bursts are better than quick switching. You can fire them pretty fast with each lock on when it is fully upgraded. Each rocket does the same damage as one regular rocket, which means you're firing 3 rockets at full damage, in a shorter amount of time. I don't do the mastery on it, as that messes up my playstyle. The arbelest is also better than quick switching for the pain elementals. I play on ps4, so i've gotten used to the weapon wheel, and can switch weapons quite efficiently during combat. You can quick switch by having ssg or ballista as the last weapons you swapped to. Quick switching is only needed for the marauder fights. You can get through everything else without it. So rather than saying the game is designed for quick switching, it's more like the marauder was designed to make you quick switch between the ballista and ssg.
    edit: wow your build is almost exactly like mine. The only difference is i save my points in the cultist base for the ssg so i can master it sooner. That way i have it mastered at the beginning of the doom hunter base. After i upgrade the ssg, then i upgrade the rocket burst mod. So from the beginning to the end, i upgrade sticky bombs, ssg, rocket burst, heat blast, arbelest, mobile turret, and lastly precision shot. I do precision shot last, as it's really just a tool to get rid of weak points. That's all i use the heavy cannon for. Also, i get the faster dash refill first, as that is a necessity for quickly getting around the map, and dodging projectiles. Then i go faster weapon swap, faster ledge grab, then i focus on ice grenade.

    • @MisterL777
      @MisterL777 Před 4 lety +1

      Faster = better

    Awesome Spud! Thanks! Very informative! Have been practicing on Nightmare, and ready(?!?!) to go for GOLD! My load-outs and play-style almost identical, but I am going to borrow your rune upgrade suggestions ;)

    Thanks for the tips. The Marauders are much easier now when I make Super Shotgun > Ballista > Blood Punch combos. I tend to forget to add a grenade to falter them, but I'll get there.

    One thing that really helped me is that blood punch one shots pinkies from the front

    Thanks dude; I just got this game three days ago. Started on UltraNightmare, couldn’t beat the first mission. One day later I’m playing Extra Lives on Nightmare and it feels like Crash BandiDoom. This guide is super helpful and I’m going to keep attempting to get past the second Mission on this setting before I eventually get that GOLD SKIN, booiiiiii

    Thanks for these tips, man. I tried streaming Ultra Nightmare on Doom 2016 but I could never get passed level 3 :( Now there's actually a reward for doing it on the new game I want to get it done. I always slept on the air movement rune, but seeing you shotgun grapple and swing around using that has sold me on the rune. Got to do a nightmare run first tho.

    One Tip i would like to add is to make Dash's secondary bind to be Caps Lock. It's a life saver when you accidentally press caps instead of shift.

    I beat ultra nightmare once, it took many weeks. I did it after beating doom 2016 ultra nightmare which was much different. When I finished, the ending cutscene was playing and then my power went out due to a drunk driver. Saddest day of my life.

    Little tip for the kitchen fight in Arc complex, after you pick up the Beserker, try to go into the portal. The kitchen has a trigger that spawns a pinky and if youre already pressured by all those mancubus and Whipslashes he can realy fuck up your day. Usually pick up the beserk after i kill the 2 starter mancubus and the Arachnotron that spawns right after you kill them. That usually gives me enough time to kill the kitchen pinky, all the whipslashes and the Cyber mancubus that spawns after you kill those. Rest should be picked up easily.

    This video was really well made. Unfortunately I have this game on console, but I still watched anyway. This game is best played on pc, especially because of the controls. Loved this video by the way, this game is amazing.

    As someone who's played doom 2016 on console, the weapon wheel can be used in just a single frame (yes really) to switch weapons so I see no need to change the controls. If you memorize the placements on it, it is "quick and efficient"

    One thing I learned while playing on an extra lives run is the Whiplashes can be easily dispatched with 2 rockets (either very close or a direct hit) and then they enter the glory kill state

    Here are a few more tips from me.1)always try to leave a single zombie alive at the end of battle and use Flame Belch on it multiple times to completely refill armor 2)for those of you using the time slow rune don't forget to expend it after every battle so it can refill before next battle 3)if you have 3 chainsaw pips you can use it to insta-kill tough or annoying demons that are not bosses.

    As someone doing this without lots of prior practice (ive gone from completing the story on ultra-violence then straight into ultra-nightmare) I realised I need to have a regular nightmare play through going on at the same time. I do a section over and over on my normal nightmare save, then when I’m confident I’ve got it down I’ll go back to ultra-violence save

    The Arc Complex fight was the worst. Died like 3-4 times... But in the end, it was so good beating it.
