Continuing to enjoy your journey here Rollen. Nemophila (Neh mo fee lah) was just getting traction when Covid hit. They've done a fantastic job with all of the covers and Livestreams getting them name recognition around the world. They are performing at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood in July, and Sacramento in October this year. I think they are hoping to get some extra tour dates between now and then to expand their schedule. I hope so, and I hope they come to Houston, so I can see them this year as well as Band Maid this October.
Nemophila has lit the Japanese music scene on fire. Not too many bands can boast that a record store imported CDs just so they can have something on the shelves to sell but Tower Records Japan did that for Nemophila. Their 2 man Zepp series in June is a testament to this by getting well established and even legendary bands to do shows with them. Having MUCC, Kishidan, Rottengrafty, PassCode, and the legendary Loudness agree to 2 mans is amazing.
@@brandydynamite5877 You know it BD. Keeping my ear to the ground for another announcement stream soon. English REVIVE release and a US Tour in July. SAKI has got to be trying to line up a couple more dates while they are here I'm hoping. Knowing this band, they have more cards up their sleeve 🤘😁🤘
Nemophila always delivers. Their songs are diverse in style but all phenomenal. They’re all world class musicians and Mayu is a legend in the making. That lady can sing anything well and absolutely emanates charisma. I recommend Revive next or Dissension if you really want something heavy.
Along with Revive, this is my fav Nemo track. The last couple of years have been shitty for everyone, but these ladies have been the light at the end of the tunnel ! 🤘😁🤘
They'll be at the Whiskey a go go in L.A. in early July. It's said she will be doing some English version's of their song's then. We need a Lovebites, Band Maid and Nemophila combined Concert Tour here in the U.S.
"neh-mo-FEA-la" 😃 the band is young and still on the rise. but they also are some kind of supergroup. impressive musicians. pure joy while playing. saki (with the "killer" guitar) is already a musicianlegend in japan. drummer tamu is drummer royalty in japan (that means something, right?), also mother of two daughters. she also plays keyboards, bass, even guitar too and has the best smile. singer mayu, guitarist hazuki and bassplayer haraguchi-san, they all are awesome. thank you for your fine reaction.
I always enjoy your reactions, these ladies know how to bring it! This is probably my favorite original track from them. Their name is pronounced Nemo - Feel - Ah. 😉👍
Incredible band , love them. Try songs Revive, Hypnosis, then Life. They formed in sept 2019, as a project for singer Mayu. Realized they loved playing together, did a live show right before pandemic hit. Drummer Murata Tamu was pregnant, so early 2020 she had time off, After they did Oiran, and Trooper cover. They did a full audience live concert in January this year. But their videos are allfrom live streams, or studio.
The song title is pronounced "ra-eye-tay" and means thunder, seems appropriate with the seven string guitars, rumbling five string bass, mayu's raspy vocal delivery and Tamu's drumkit. Without the hyperbolic praise/touted supergroup elements that a lot of western fans fall victim to on here, I'll try to fill in some more background. The name Nemophila is taken from a type of blue & white flower. They have indeed made a lot of progress in a relatively short space of time, but this is as much down to understanding how to market themselves online during the pandemic to raise their profile (covers/uploads used to be roughly fortnightly when touring/gigging in Japan was impossible) and close relationships with established artists through their prior/other work giving them opportunities (much of the all female j-rock/metal scene are quite close knit and there's a lot of musicians who've played in multiple bands). Saki (guitarist with painted Marshall halfstack on the right) has the most established prior presence (though musician legend is stretching it), as she's been playing professionally in bands for over a decade now; most notably (until they recently went on hiatus) for the band Mary's Blood (who had toured internationally and achieved moderate domestic success commercially), who were formed from former members of Dextrose (a band who had 19 different members over their run and spawned multiple other bands, including what became the rhythm section of Lovebites). Saki's also got a project with former Dragonforce member Frédéric Leclercq called Amahiru. She has a long term relationship established with Keiko & Sun-Go (singer & guitarist respectively) from Show-Ya (actual legendary 80s Japanese all female rock/metal band, who are godmothers of much of the current scene). This is in part through frequent participation in their long running women performer only festival Naon no Yaon. Tamu Murata the drummer had established her reputation more as a session player and support musician, touring for several other bands over the years. Her background is equally jazz fusion/prog as much as hard rock/metal and she has many connections within the industry. She's also a bit of a maternal figure toward the younger members of the band as she's literally become a mum since starting the band, now balancing her career with having two young daughters. The singer mayu previously played with rock band Lipstick under the moniker Sindy and Nemophila was initially meant to be a one off live covers session in 2019 for her after leaving that band, but gelled well enough to become a permanent thing. The other guitarist Hazuki previously played in mid-level band Disqualia and also is the second guitarist for the band of teen shred prodigy Lisa-X (who's 16-17 now but been uploading crazy covers and the like for years, also having played with Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman & Kiko Loureiro). She has a metal/fusion background, including being a big fan of Arch Enemy. The bassist Haraguchi-san has the least prior gigging experience of the group, but has known mayu since high school and was the first to become involved due to their prior friendship.
Nice reaction. Nemophila is amazing. Just released their first album back in December and it is a damn good album. This song RAITEI is an awesome song I would say one of my favorites from them but they are all my favs :) I see up to now you just done their covers. This is your first original from them? Great choice and this just scratches the surface. You have not even heard her banshee scream yet haha. If you Keep watching some more of their originals. I have a feeling you will really enjoy. :) One of my best favs is them live NEMOPHILA / OIRAN (NAONのYAON2021). Mayu can scream and if you listen to the studio version you can bet she can do it live too. I watch their live stream concert back a couple months ago and they really kicked ass. They are all very talented.
Not really a metalhead, more of a rock hard rock classic rock kind of guy. But these ladies have changed that for me to a point. They seem to include occasionally in some of their song. Sort of a pop sound with very melodic hooks, in their choruses. Kind of what Band Maid does with their songs with the hard rock format/genre. Nemophilia IMHO, does the same thing with metal. Because I am more of a hard rock, rock kind of guy. I do enjoy their covers probably a tad bit more than their originals. But all of it is good. And have you ever seen a band with two more technically gifted gorgeous guitarist ? And another thing just like Band Maid. Their chemistry is undeniable as well ! Band Maid my favorite rock group today. And Nemophilia my favorite metal band today. Not that bad of a combo. Keep up the good work stay safe and be well !
