@@Jordan-Ramses I always kind of hold BABYMETAL out apart from the others, not better or worse than the Big Three (I agree with Vincent on who those are at the moment), but kind of parallel in a different world, because their concept is so entirely unique. I wouldn't quite put Hanabie in the Top 3 yet, but I love them, and they are very much on the rise and are growing an international following now, like the others!

Another good reaction. Nemophila is awesome.
Japan has so good "music school". It has so many talented musicians.
I think Nemophila is better in studio recordings.
And I still think that the song "Dissension" is the best way to start listening to Nemophila. I suggest you this song, but not the U.S. version. Japanese version is better. And there is also a live video of it. And you can check out "Adabana". This song is awesome.
Thank you for your reaction. More Nemophila, more Lovebites, more BAND-MAID. And sorry for mistakes in my text...

What Nemophila is like at concerts is not really known yet. Since its inception (September 2019) until today, Nemophila played probably 18 concerts + mayu session + Nemophila Quortette + probably 2 concerts online. Still, a significant part of it was not full-scale, trouble-free concerts. Either short sets or technical problems, no audience - COVID, mayu in advanced pregnancy, downpour, no mayu. They need a lot of concerts, teamwork. They will definitely be better at concerts. Recordings from Naon Yaon (especially Oiran) are already quite good. They're halfway through the Japan tour, in March the US, then I guess some gig in Japan. I keep my fingers crossed for them.

    Welcome to Nemophila!
The band pronounces their name Neh-moh-fee-lah (Neh with a short 'e' like net or wet) there is also no second 'i', the song name is pronounced as rye-tay.
If you undo "The Big Vowel Shift" that happened in the English language, it helps in understanding the pronounciation.
Overall I think the difference between studio and live for Nemophila is very negligible, they are all talented and experienced musicians.
I personally prefer mayu's live vocals over the studio vocals, but that's because she can really pull them off.

You are in for a treat, it wasn't even one of their best songs, it's my favourite band out of these full of positive energy japanese girl hard rock/metal bands.
I wouldn't say they are better and more technical live like Lovebites, but they are great live too and have amazing charisma live.
    Must listen to songs:
The best live performance and my favourite song: "Oiran" official live video.
A quintessential Nemophila song, a single song to show what this band is about: "Adabana".
Breakthrough hit: "Dissention" official music video ( original non american version ).
New metal/ experimental song: "Style" ( it's awesome and I don't even like new metal ).
Tearjerker metal ballad: "Life" ( Nothing Else Matters tier ).
Slow and heavy, middleeastern vibes: "Hypnosis"

Hey Jon.. Told you... Nemophila are the Sh1t... Saki and Hazuki are right up there with the best duel leads there are out there, Haraguchi-san on bass and Tamu Murata on drums (regarded as one of the best female drummers in Japan (no mean feat) ) are a phenominal rythm section, Known as 'Laughing thunder' as you will see the more songs you do.. And Mayu on vocals?? Which you never mentioned? Well you are in for a suprize a few more songs down the line, lets just say she is a one in a million.. Another new ride, enjoy it it's very good.. What I like about Nemophila compared to sthe other current female Japanese bands, is that as well as the creativity, there's an edge and an aggression and rawness to them (certainly live). They're also not afraid to experiment with different styles.

Nope, can't pigeon-hole Nemophila, they do whatever they want, grated it's 'metal' in some form or another. This is like a classic song for them, even though it's really only a few years old. Their newest stuff is even better. Try, "Adabana" "Ray of Light" "Dissension" "Seize The Fate" any of their countless covers....hell just about anything they do is great. Been listening to J-rock/metal for about 15 years now and they are one of my favs.

They are all over the place which is what makes them my favorite of the heavier bands. Jon, there is something you need to know. By the way, I am not so called a weeb or am I a Japanese lover. It's that they make music they I really like. I don't listen to "western" music anymore. I rather listen to 70's and 80's rock.
--- So simply, they don't take the easy way out like some of your famous bands. I really mean it. Just like you said, rhythm g does not have to do that but they do. But, it's not just this band nor the rhythm. They all do. Just listen to Band-Maid and what Kanami does in many many of their songs. She is so busy it's crazy. And Misa, too. She is all over the fret board. I've never seen rock bassists so busy on the fret board before her or the other Japanese rock/hard rock/metal bassists. Band-Maid, Lovebites, Gacharic Spin, Unlucky Morpheus, Nemophila, Versailles, Galneryus, Bridear, Aldious, etc. They really really work hard for the fans.
Nemophila members are all veterans of Japanese metal/hard rock scene. If I just talk about Tamu Murata (drums), she's a famous session musician, started as a Fusion Jazz drummer, has her own channel with close to 50 million combined views and has more subscribers than the Nemophila channel. Yeah. She can play any genre.

I wouldn't say that they are one of the bands who are better live yet, at least not in terms of the sound quality of their live videos. Of course, that has nothing to do with their playing, which is spot on. But they need to borrow Lovebites or Band-Maid's live sound mixers, lol! To be fair, though, there isn't a lot of live video out there. Most of it is either from live-streams during COVID, or fan-cams from the US shows.
