This is the Brady Bunch Variety Hour version of The Addams Family. Most of the players are there, but it's kind of an alternate universe version of the show... But like the BBVH, I'm still glad they did it even though it's so bizarre and different from the original.
I watched this when it first came out. I was still sick, away from school for a 1 1/2 weeks. The song at the end was hauntingly sweet & I thought Carolyn Jones had such elegance. They overdid the "that's French!" between the "three Gomezes" but it was great to see this again after all these years, glad all except grandma returned. A shame "Lurch" died just the next year. Lisa Loring in that white outfit! Woah!
I'm so thankful for this colored original Addams family ❤ I'm giggling everytime they talk about the lodge, the humor is superb 😂 I wonder if ever (let's say to be in real life version) Gomez need to attend the lodge's meetings, does he attend distracted in thoughts just wanted to finish it & go home to see Morticia or he keeps calling while doing stuffs inside 🤣
"Merry, Creepy Halloween" has always been a favorite. I found this VHS in a bargain bin back in '95 and I watch it every Halloween season. Pretty much no one else I have ever met can enjoy this special.
It feels like it was filmed on a low budget camera. I do love that most of the original cast came back. 2022 Wednesday and the original are honestly the best
*I love this. I can't stop watching this. Even though, at first it was a little weird, seeing them in color. I'm so use to seeing them in black & white because of the TV series which I adore!! And I just am glad that The Addams Family still lives on today. I love them so much, wish they were my next door neighbors.*
36:04 gee, I thought Morticia would love the idea of Wednesday riding a motorcycle or being a daredevil, they're plenty dangerous. or maybe not eccentric/dangerous enough to that level.
I used to have this on tape, I was raised on this. The part that really made me crack up is when Lurch took them weights from that bodybuilder and threw it out the door, and those guys ran away. "I don't know about you, but I'm gettin' outta here."
I lol at that one too. But the one where I really lol is when Lurch discovers his conquest was really a man! That look on his face when he takes off Little Bo Peep's wig was priceless!
This was Carolyn Jones' first role in years coming out of semi retirement, she was repressed by a domineering husband. He kept her hidden away in a secluded lakeside home. She lost many quality years, sadly Carolyn died just 6 years after this movie.
This may not be perfect, but I still like it. I like the little continuity nods thrown in throughout it. I love that Lady Fingers lives with them now ( so the relationship worked out for Thing. That's CUTE!). And I truly love to see "my" Gomez and Morticia being just so perfect again (John Asten and Carolyn Jones just are the two people i personally picture when thinking of Gomez and Morticia). I also truly had fun seeing Fester throughout this, and especially his "helpful" acts to the wannabe thieves. Plus, that song is great. Now I know a Halloween Carol. :) That said, yes, this special was not perfect. The plot makes very little sense, I see no reason for the existence of the new "main" family members and at some point there were just too many people in the same suit running around in that house! - And of course it is sad that Blossom Rock was too sick to reprise her role. All in all I am happy I found and watched this, though. Thanks for uploading.
RIP to the original cast *Mortica Adams -* Carolyn Jones (1930-1983) *Pugsley Adams -* Ken Weatherwax (1955-2014) *Uncle Fester-* Jackie Coogan (1914-1984) *Gramama-* Blossom Rock (1895-1978) *Lurch-* Ted Cassidy (1932-79) *Thing-* Jack Voglin (1904-1982) *Voglin was one half that played Thing. I don't know why exactly, but I love the song at the end. I'm strangely pathetic by hearing this. Btw John Austin is 85 years old this year. Sending all the best from Europe :)
After the Addams family TV series ended in 1966 Blossom Rock suffered a stroke which left her unable to continue acting. She had been left unable to walk long distances and had slurred speech.
nakyer Are you so dumb you think having the same cast makes it the same thing? Just look at it. Same cast, inferior show. If you can't see that you're a blind idiot.
That Guy From That Thing me and many other old people! it was tv from our childhod.maybe not great art,but sceary for us when we were small kids.and we loved it.
Sorry, guys, I couldn't get through half of this. It was so out of character yet trying to keep with the style and campiness of the original. Good to see the old cast, though.
I agree. The movie reminds me of when they did the "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" It just looks like a cheap attempt to make a few bucks off of the original series.
Just goes to show that for everything there is a magical time and place. Taken from that time and place, even with the best of intentions, it's never quite the same.
Modern day Addams family portrays Wednesday as a teenage girl. In the original, she was just a little girl in her pre-teens. The earlier series paid more attention to the parents. Since, today's world is more youth oriented, they started focusing on the kids. But to me, nothing beats the movies from the 1990s featuring Raul Julia, Angelica Houston and Christina Ricci.
1955: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to a son. "Let's name him Pugsley!" 1958: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to a daughter. "Let's name her Wednesday!" circa 1970: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to anther son. "Let's name him Pugsley Junior! And retroactively name our first son Pugsley Senior! And only ever dress our new son in the same outfit of a black-and-white-striped shirt and black shorts, just like we did our first son!' circa 1970: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to another daughter. "Let's name her Wednesday Junior! And retroactively name our first daughter Wednesday Senior! And have our new daughter wear a dress just like the one we've always had our first daughter wear! And braid Wednesday Junior's hair in the same style as Wednesday Senior has always worn!"
Skip to 1:07:56 “Christmas and Easter bring wonderful treasures, but spirits and pumpkins bring far greater pleasures! Phantoms and ghosts, make wonderful hosts, and every year they convene, to wish you a merry, shh, creepy, Halloween…Scarecrows and black birds are always together, spiders spin cobwebs in overcast weather, goblins are brewing and banshees are crooning, a weird, and ghastly routine, to wish you a merry, shh, creepy, Halloween…This is a night, of heavenly fright, witches on broomsticks are up to their tricks, and poltergeists wail to the moon - which looks like a silver balloon! Frankenstein’s monster is having a ball, scaring the gargoyles right off of the wall. Boogeyman pranks and our favorite guests, and children are king, and queen. They wish you a merry, shh, creepy, Halloween!" This song is soooo hauntingly sweet!! Why 'o why can't iTunes sell it?? 😌🎃
I don't know. I really love that song they sang as they slowly go upstairs to the tower. I also love the background music that is playing while they're in the attic awaiting Cousin Shy.
Can you blame her? There are several things in the house that don't seem right...plus her children are getting older and every parent has their moment when they realize that everything is about to come to a halt.
I'm just glad to finally get to watch this. I saw part of it one Halloween night back when I was a kid. I ended up turning it to see a horror film that was airing. Bad choice. I always regretted not seeing it and now I finally have my chance. Good, bad, it's making up for a lifetime of regret.
Well in the 90's it was in black and white that is all we had until they made all the movies in color and the Adam's family and the Munsters will always be my favorite movies
Absolutely agree...I guess that makes us both " lesbos"...even though I am 40 and married and have four children...when people say something ignorant like the above comment toward you just reply " thank you for the compliment"
I watched this when it aired in 1977 and switched it off. Despite the reunion of most of the original adult cast, they couldn't live up to the original series. As mentioned below, the actors seemed bored, as if going through a reunion routine, or being let down at a class reunion because of the age factor. Perhaps the videotaping reduced their energy. Their mansion here looks too suburban, not "haunted" enough. It was interesting, though, the way Vic Mizzy rewrote his old theme to recall the original but make it as unlike it as possible - perhaps to signify the "new" in the "New Addams Family" or to circumvent whatever copyright issues lingered. (By the way, this would be one of Ted Cassidy's last appearances before his death two years later. Blossom Rock was too ill to reprise Grandmama, and she died the following year.) Thanks for posting this, for what it's worth.
That song at the end has been stuck in my head ever since I was little and thought about it EVERY Halloween but could never remember what the hell it was from..hahhaha! "We wish you a Merry..ssssshhhhh Creepy Halloween" Classic! Can't believe I finally know now!
I didn’t know until I started watch reruns on Pluto that they did a full length movie when I looked up the stars biographies. I loved watching them when I was a kid so it’s fun to see again.
The fact that John Astin outlived every member of the original cast is unbelievable. He will outlive all of us.

Do ya speak French Daisy? Some see me...
The Addams 👪 movies awesome well Christopher Lloyd was playing Uncle Fester it is 👍 dynamites the on guard playing swords in 🏫 blood overall everybody it was fake it was just juicy puzzly like to play Mind Games he put something on his 👵 stew all this pot & 👴 loves to
He was the sex symbol that men wanted to be.
Lol, yeah...remember that one episode, when he said, "Say Something More In French"... welp, looks like Morticia doesn't want yet X3
How does John Astin look as though he hasn't aged since the show? That's truly Spooky!
Good old movies & let's not forget the music also. Music and movies will never be the same nor will they will ever make movies as this again.Music back in the days made a change in life. We could write millions of reasons but I won't.
Carolyn Jones as Mortica was hot as sin!
Oh yeah :)
She was 47 when this episode aired. She looked great for her age. Unfortunately she died 6 years after this aired in 1983.
The 70's, Such a funky decade!
This is the Brady Bunch Variety Hour version of The Addams Family. Most of the players are there, but it's kind of an alternate universe version of the show... But like the BBVH, I'm still glad they did it even though it's so bizarre and different from the original.
This house is beautiful but I miss the old one.
Woah!
Granny Frump was not played by the original actress either.
I'm so thankful for this colored original Addams family ❤
I'm giggling everytime they talk about the lodge, the humor is superb 😂 I wonder if ever (let's say to be in real life version) Gomez need to attend the lodge's meetings, does he attend distracted in thoughts just wanted to finish it & go home to see Morticia or he keeps calling while doing stuffs inside 🤣
"Merry, Creepy Halloween" has always been a favorite. I found this VHS in a bargain bin back in '95 and I watch it every Halloween season. Pretty much no one else I have ever met can enjoy this special.
Beautiful class and elegance
Rip Lisa loring
They looked the same 😩I’m crying 😩😩😩❤️
It feels like it was filmed on a low budget camera. I do love that most of the original cast came back. 2022 Wednesday and the original are honestly the best
*I love this. I can't stop watching this. Even though, at first it was a little weird, seeing them in color. I'm so use to seeing them in black & white because of the TV series which I adore!! And I just am glad that The Addams Family still lives on today. I love them so much, wish they were my next door neighbors.*
Carolyn Jones looks amazingly good here for being 47, and having endured some hard times in life, two failed marriages by then.
Lisa Loring lost her mother to chronic alcoholism in 1974, when she was 16
@@lisamcdonald1014 They were talking about Carolyn Jones
Carolyn Jones...still hot
+John Lang Yup she was still pretty in 1977,,,,,,,,very sad she died August 3, 1983 (aged 53)
And still dead.
Adams family

Got me a wife that looks like Morticia.
36:04 gee, I thought Morticia would love the idea of Wednesday riding a motorcycle or being a daredevil, they're plenty dangerous. or maybe not eccentric/dangerous enough to that level.
these folks didnt miss a beat in this, this is incredible. wish they kept going
PURE CLASSIC!!!! AWESOME REUNION T.V. MOVIE I LOVE THE ADDAMS FAMILY!!! "NEVER SAY DIE "
😂
Is really cool how they got some of the guest stars from the old series to the bad guys and stuff
That said, yes, this special was not perfect.
Imagine if Thing & Lady Fingers have little hand babies!😊
@@keshiaanders6452 I'm not sure I want to think about that too much 🙄
Morticia is still my Favourite!
Nice to see that Lurch hasn't lost his dancing skills! 😁
John Aston now 93 years old ❤ we should all have such dna.
They really went all out with their special effects budget, especially for "Thing."
John Aston is pure charisma and sexual charm. I cannot believe this exists in so happy!!!! ❤
RIP to the original cast
*Mortica Adams -* Carolyn Jones (1930-1983)
*Pugsley Adams -* Ken Weatherwax (1955-2014)
*Uncle Fester-* Jackie Coogan (1914-1984)
*Gramama-* Blossom Rock (1895-1978)
*Lurch-* Ted Cassidy (1932-79)
*Thing-* Jack Voglin (1904-1982)
*Voglin was one half that played Thing. Ted Cassidy also played the playful hand in the tv series*
*Cousin Itt* - Felix Silas
(1937-2021)
It's sad that a few a them died so young
Wednesday Addams-Lisa Loring(1958-2023)
That just leaves Gomez(John Astin)
I don't know why exactly, but I love the song at the end. I'm strangely pathetic by hearing this. Btw John Austin is 85 years old this year. Sending all the best from Europe :)
As I see it connects people all over the world:)
Where are you from? :)
This is the first time I've seen this in 42 years.
After the Addams family TV series ended in 1966 Blossom Rock suffered a stroke which left her unable to continue acting. She had been left unable to walk long distances and had slurred speech.
Why isn't this out on dvd? This is a true classic.
+Joseph Brooks No they shouldn't. Just stick to the 60s version and the 90s version.
Luke Beauchamp Dude........shut up.......okay?
+Joseph Brooks Of course you can disagree with my opinion and I can disagree with yours. That's what I did last week.
What? Do you have ingrown toenails for brains or something? This is an extension of the 60s show! Same cast and all. Get with it or get out.
nakyer Are you so dumb you think having the same cast makes it the same thing? Just look at it. Same cast, inferior show. If you can't see that you're a blind idiot.
Good thing there were still alive for the movie.
Who's watching in October 2016?:)
Me
I came here by way of "The Monster That Challenged the World"..go figure !

That Guy From That Thing me and many other old people! it was tv from our childhod.maybe not great art,but sceary for us when we were small kids.and we loved it.
July 2017.
One greatest movie. I never saw. Nice bring back good old days of Hallween night.
So much better in Black and White. Color loses its charm and mystery.
This was never in black and white. It was made in color, unlike the TV series. The later movies were also made in color. Hello?
+nakyer I think he meant the tv series
Maureen Koscinski
Well then, he'll have to be destroyed, of course. Repeatedly.
The original living room was pink. Pink pink pink. I *hate* pink.
Horrorcide
Why is it being said the original living room was pink, when the show as in black and white?
Sorry, guys, I couldn't get through half of this. It was so out of character yet trying to keep with the style and campiness of the original. Good to see the old cast, though.
Me too
I agree. The movie reminds me of when they did the "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" It just looks like a cheap attempt to make a few bucks off of the original series.
So nice to see in color !
I wish they all were still alive ! I love the aadams family!
I didn't even know about this??? I knew there was a Addams family black and white but didn't know about this... So great I love it
Pugsley dressed up as a witch doctor would NEVER be allowed today. Hahaha I LOVE IT.
Kilka miesięcy temu oglądam tylko początek a teraz oglądałam całość. John astin jest jedyną osobą która jeszcze żyje z sitcomu z lat 60.
Vintage John Aston as his character Gomez.
Just goes to show that for everything there is a magical time and place. Taken from that time and place, even with the best of intentions, it's never quite the same.
So true!!! When I was a child I never missed an episode. This film is simply a sad caricature of that glorious and genial serie.
Wow,Wednesday was about 18 or 19 when they did this, and she really grew up,and out!!!!
Yeah Lisa loring has grown so much since 1964 through 1966
She was 19 at the time this television film premiered on Sunday, October 30th 1977
19 year old Lisa Loring. Damn.
1977 was the year of TV Reunions of shows that were bigger in reruns and syndication: Adams Family, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, My Three Sons,
Anybody else watching this for Halloween 2020?
2022 🙌
I remember watching this movie on VHS as a child. We taped it off the television. Thanks for posting this. It really made my Halloween!
1955: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to a son. "Let's name him Pugsley!"
1958: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to a daughter. "Let's name her Wednesday!"
circa 1970: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to anther son. "Let's name him Pugsley Junior! And retroactively name our first son Pugsley Senior! And only ever dress our new son in the same outfit of a black-and-white-striped shirt and black shorts, just like we did our first son!'
circa 1970: Gomez and Morticia Addams give birth to another daughter. "Let's name her Wednesday Junior! And retroactively name our first daughter Wednesday Senior! And have our new daughter wear a dress just like the one we've always had our first daughter wear! And braid Wednesday Junior's hair in the same style as Wednesday Senior has always worn!"
Thank you! That’s the only reason I’m reading comments. Why am I the only one who finds this odd. That and the body builders.
Great to see they were still having sex though.
When the 90s movie sequel came out, I was the only kid who insisted Pubert was Pugsley Jr.
@@CodenameSailorEarth Pubert was the name originally proposed for Pugsley, but they changed it because it was too "suggestive."
Nothing beats family traditions.

“Christmas and Easter bring wonderful treasures, but spirits and pumpkins bring far greater pleasures! They wish you a merry, shh, creepy, Halloween!"
This song is soooo hauntingly sweet!!
Why 'o why can't iTunes sell it?? 😌🎃
I don't know. I really love that song they sang as they slowly go upstairs to the tower. I also love the background music that is playing while they're in the attic awaiting Cousin Shy.
This song slaps like this be a great Halloween song
Love it 💘
Anyone ever notice how Morticia's character isnt as cheery and loving as she was in the show?
Does it really matter? It's still Morticia, yes they changed her a tiny bit. But still, it doesn't matter.
its because I think at that time Carolyn Jones already had colon cancer than she was before at the original version
Can you blame her? There are several things in the house that don't seem right...plus her children are getting older and every parent has their moment when they realize that everything is about to come to a halt.
It matters. Morticia was always stoic, bizarre and passionate. Some or the passion is definitely missing. Director's choice?
@@lanawintersass she was diagnosed in 1981
I'm just glad to finally get to watch this. I saw part of it one Halloween night back when I was a kid. I ended up turning it to see a horror film that was airing. Bad choice. I always regretted not seeing it and now I finally have my chance. Good, bad, it's making up for a lifetime of regret.
This brings me right back to my childhood
i love so much John Astin.
Well in the 90's it was in black and white that is all we had until they made all the movies in color and the Adam's family and the Munsters will always be my favorite movies
wow Wednesday is gorgeous!
Maureen Koscinski Lesbo!
+John Miller you know it's possible for a girl to think another girl is gorgeous and not be a lesbian right?
She awesome in ever one.
Absolutely agree...I guess that makes us both " lesbos"...even though I am 40 and married and have four children...when people say something ignorant like the above comment toward you just reply " thank you for the compliment"
@@maureenavena3389 yes. Can't we just say girls have female role models too? I like Lisa Loring as Wednesday, and Christina too.
Totally agree with you .
Most people prefer the first version of something they like, and want it to stay exactly the same no matter how much time has passed.
R.I.P. Ken Weatherwax!
Donna Tobiasen Along with Ted Cassidy, Jackie Coogan, Carolyn Jones, Lisa Lorring and Pugsly.
The person who played Wednesday is still alive.
Luke POUND Oh, okay I am glad to know that.
@James Moyner She sadly just passed away..Now only Gomez(John Astin) is still with us, at 92 years old!
Carolyn Jones as Morticia is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. To me she is the gold standard.
Lisa Loring looked really, really good. That's definitely the highlight of this movie.
@Joe Casson And why not?
@@psychobillynumbnuts1 maybe because shes older and gained a bit of weight
She has 2 daughters Vanessa (born 1974) and Marianne Loring (born 1984)

They've got two hands. One to answer the phone and one to stir the soup. LOL!
OMG you did this like 7 days after I was born 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
It’s so sad that Carolyn Jones died so young of cancer. I couldn’t believe she was married to Aaron Spelling. She was great in King Creole with Elvis.
