ICC not allowing RRs to abandon unprofitable branch lines for around 100 years until RR were deregulated basically bankrupted the RRs. Then the ICC tried to regulate freight rates! Totally agree with Rand, BUT if it's "against the law to not get the maximum profit", and "there's no morality in figuring what the profit could or should be", why doesn't every biz owner simply destroy the lives of all of their competitors (while staying within the letter of the law?) Then their profits could and would end up going sky high? Our country as built on morality and doing away with it, has been a disaster. John Adams: "Avarice will break this Constitution like a whale breaks through a net" and "This Constitution is for a moral and religious person and is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other".

Rand Paul knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the price of medical care and medicines. He’s knows these things because he’s a physician himself who’s run a business in the past providing medical care for people. All these people who are talking about price fixing for medical procedures and drugs know nothing about running a business nor do they understand how and why capitalism drives innovations. And he just proved it.
Socialism NEVER works because it isn’t compatible with realistic human nature and people by their very nature want to make a profit. If there’s no gain for doing anything, what’s the point of innovating?

If socialists understood economics they wouldn't be socialists.

Like fairly taxing the rich so we could have free health care and education is an evil thing.

You're defining socialism. The rich pay 37% tax rate for Federal taxes.
49% of Americans pay no Federal taxes at all.
      Not much room for freebies.

As a European, I can tell you something. I have never EVER paid more than 20 bucks for medicine.
My mother had thyroid cancer in 2000 (!) and she didn't have to sell a house for the therapy.
People need to understand that the real problem isn't capitalism itself but the unmoral standards of it.
And Senator Paul: With all due respect, stop fetishising capitalism just to prove a point. Everyone knows that socialism is bad.
Thank goodness , that your friend is alive due to that medication. But: If I had the money for it, I'd bet $1.000.000 that this friend had no problem affording the sky-high price!
I think that the US is a great country full of great people.
However, the whole entire health system in the USA is a pile of crap. Here is why:
    Eliquis price:
    USA: $7,100
    France: $650
    A birth of a child:
    USA: $7.500 (Acc. to Statista.com)
    Germany: $2,448
Cost of the ambulance, to bring you to hospital:
    USA: $940 to $1,277
    Germany: $12 (Yes, that's correct)
THAT'S where congress should start. But if Trump's coming back, forget about it. Lol...
