- Rebuilding the Stihl 391 for better HP gains opened primary lower transfer. Cleanup the exhaust port for better flow. They Hyway cylinder and Dukes coated piston are in excellent shape no scratches after 26 tanks of gas. It looks like the cylinder still needs to break in a little more they maybe better than OEM. I used a Hyway piston pin bearing because the factory one swell up and got tight seems like sometimes they do. First cylinder torque pass is 4nm or 35 inlbs. Second cylinder torque pass 12nm or 106 inlbs.

Great video just did crank bearings on my 391 shes ripping again. Thanks! I can tell your from New Yawwwk somewhere. Maybe penn.
Thank you thank you are the only one I have gone in-depth on a 391 most video I have seen have jus been muffler mod which ok but not what kneed
Great info on the rebuilt. But how do I get it apart? I can't tell how the carb comes off. Is there some part one to this expedition?
Thanks for the video! I wish there was a video on tear down for this model.. How do you separate the piston from the crankshaft?
You just pry out one piston circlip but be careful you don't lose it. Then tap the piston wrist pin out with a 1/4 dr socket extension . Sometimes they can be alittle tight.
@@kennytheguitarfanatic054 thank you
Hi Kenny, I am having a go at rebuilding one of these saws.. What kind of oil is that that you are using to lube up the parts? Also would you be able to clarify if the gasket maker is supposed to go around the oil seals? Cheers
I used the Stihl HP ultra oil on the parts. You can put Moto seal on the out side of the seals but you don't have to. I did because the aftermarket cylinder had rough finish were the seals side into to make sure it don't leak.
