Cutting Giant Apple Wood Log W/ ms660 Why I Love This Saw.
zhlédnutí 161Před 21 hodinou
Cutting a really big apple wood log and splitting it up because it has ants in it. I really like this ms 660 it has tons of power and grunt. I know most people say run your saw full throttle but for some stuff I do part throttle for ripping logs in half and for safety. When I hit full throttle I can dog in and pull on the saw and It will not stall. That is why i love this saw.

Farmertec 372 xp Chainsaw Carb Testing Hi Jet Out 1-3/4 turns After 1 Cut The Saw Ran Better
zhlédnutí 69Před 28 dny
Testing Turning out the Hi Jet too far 1-3/4 turns When the saw got warm it seemed to have more power . At 1-1/2 turns the saw likes it when you dog the saw in it speeds up like a governor. But at 1-3/4 turns it does not do that. I have found in some cases when the hi jet is turned too far out you can gain torque in a chainsaw when the engine is warmed up.

Doing some cuts in 4ft ash. Seems like the c83 chain on the ms 660 cuts better than stock. This tree had splits in the wood from yrs ago. Pieces of the log would come off and hit my hand or the chain brake. So I had to cut it into pieces instead of a big chunk.

I think something is going on with the ms 660 I know the crank small end has been a little loose it maybe getting worse But later I found the oiler was not working. The saw sounded rich because the 660 and 372 the way I built them I know now they need a specific chain and to be very sharp or they don't run right. Piston looks good the crank looks great after cut this tree. This was my favorite ...

Doing a few cuts with my farmertec 372 it has a 272 piston in it. The carb is set very rich the piston is breakin in very nicely. This wood seems cut resistant when dead for a long time . This was my favorite tree but died 10yrs ago. I cut this big tree down with my Stihl kombi pole saw 16in bar.

The farmertec 660 runs really strong I only cut the first 2 cuts at full throttle. The rest was at half throttle. Because I was afraid I would lose control in smaller cuts. The Stihl 391 I believe i have it fixed but still not sure about full throttle operation that is when the piston would start to score. But now seems like a good reliable saw now.

Something I experiment with is depending how your saw is built you can pickup lots of torque by running your carb alittle richer just put a moderate load on it and it will really cut and pull. It is just finding the sweet spot on the carb. I could maybe lean it out alittle .Most of the time i was only running it part throttle. Only a couple quick full throttle pulls.

@kennytheguitarfanatic054 vp makes good stuff but with these small motors I just buy the recommended gas of the same brand. One less thing to try and blame me for if things go bad, can't say I put the wrong gas in it! Run the Husqvarna gas in my Husqvarna trimmer as well. They seem to run better on their own gas but that could just be placebo effect

I have a KM130R. Not sure what the major differences are besides a bigger fuel tank, but it’s a monster. For the string trimmer, mine came with the 25-2 autocut head. You can run up to .105 trimmer line in it. It came with smaller line and the upgrade to .105 line made a huge difference in what it can cut. I haven’t found any grass or weeds big enough to cause any issues.

Now see other people didn't mention about any worn lobes on the camshaft you did and i have because on my 18hp intek engine its lobes on the camshaft were worn down enough while the compression release was still good wasn't broken it all just worn lobes was my problem Now if the lobes were replaceable I'd do that and still use my old camshaft with its good compression release so after taking my camshaft out i compared the two together to see what the difference was and seen it But the videos on those focus on the compression release on the camshaft instead of pointing out it could be worn lobes as mine were worn. I dont think a valve adjustment on one with worn lobes would do much good anyways then the only way i figure the top lobe which actually was the bottom lobe was worn more than the top is because someone had already done a bad valve adjustment job on the engine

Were the I/C briggs I believe they don't make OEM but you can get aftermarket pistons.

I got the adapter plate for like 50$ from little machine shop and the actual Chuck I found on Amazon for 80$. Pretty cheap for such a nice upgrade. Sometimes it’s nice to have the larger jaws to hold items you don’t want to move on ya. Anyways cool vid thanks for sharing

When you said you don’t touch the parts I’m guessing because of the oils in your skin cause rust. Reminds me of my dad when we had to weld near an engine like on the tractor or truck he’d never ground the welder on the engine because he said a tiny arc happens between the bearing of the crank and cam when you strike an arc. Causing micro weak spots and can eventually lead to a failure. Cool vid

    • @kennytheguitarfanatic054
      @kennytheguitarfanatic054 Před 3 měsíci

Thanks . One reason I don't touch the engine parts when assembling. Is because there might be dirt on my fingers and could accidently put dirt on the bearings by wiping oil on them and might cause a failure.

I like the 11hp briggs too. A little tip on these motors The reason why the 1982 11hp briggs and under had more power is the camshaft it has a 1.250 intake lobe and 1.200 on the exhaust . The newer ones have a 1.200 measurement on both lobes. They lost power with those cams. My Bolens tractor has one I specially built it runs really strong. I did a few videos on my channel of it cutting high grass.

Just curious: Why not buy 10 thou oversize rings & file fit them. That's what I've done. It's a Lawnmower engine not the Space shuttle engine. ONE MORE THING: I don't hone or glaze bust, I just file fit .003"/ inch of bore and put it all back together. Then light loads for a while. It will be down on pwr slightly for a few hrs and maybe use a little oil but it will work for long time & save boring for another time.

I figured try to make these motors run really strong and are getting hard to get parts for. I figured I would bore these motors for the sake of learning .

What I was doing was setting the bore gauge with the other motor because at the bottom of cylinder is perfect stock bore size 3.4365. So for the 0.010 motor just add 0.010 to the gauge and the 0.020 add 0.020. This is the easiest way to set the bore gauge.
