      It's an awesome find. Looks like a command bunker to direct the gun fire, that strange room could be radar btw or aiming control, not seen anything close like it regarding search lights or small guns. It's very elaborate for a small gun so doubt its one of those but I'm guessing. Did you work out what it is yet?? And you definitely need a better camera to record underground. Yours does ok normally but wasn't much good under those conditions. Maybe a few patreons can donate towards a better camera??

    WW2HistoryHunter,
    Pz39 is Panzerbusche 39.
    7.92x94mm Patronen.
    German 2nd world war anti tank rifle with effective range of only 300 metres to penetrate 25mm of armour.
    So wish I could secretly get in touch with you and learn of its location. Like the thousands of others of course.!!
    Superb video.
    Thanks
    Jonathan

      Hi, I think you are wrong about the markings on the ceiling. I think it is much more likely that the markings indicate the types of 88mm shells that were stored in the bunker, and not for munition for something like a Panzerbuchse 39.
      AZ. means Aufschlagzünder, this translates to "impact fuze". So in that place, they stored shells that detonate on impact.
      And I think that Zt. Z. means Zeit Zünder, which translates to "timed fuze". So a shell with a time delay before exploding, often used for anti-air purposes.
      As for the Pz. 39, I think that in this case it means Panzergranate 39. An armor piercing high explosive type of shell. So a shell that is capable of penetrating thick armor before exploding.

      Unfortunately incorrect, but easy mistake. Remember it’s a costal defence and AA station, with captured equipment etc. But this ones easily identified as the 88mm multi role shell fuse types. Zt air burst, pz shaped charge and Az impact.

  • @David-kq7cw
    @David-kq7cw Před 6 lety +52

    I believe the markings indicate the shell types that were stored in that bunker.
    AZ. means Aufschlagzünder, which is a shell that explodes on impact.
    Zt. Z. most likely stands for Zeit Zünder, a timed fuze
    And I think that Pz. 39 in this case means Panzergranate 39, an armor piercing high explosive shell.

    12:18 the abbreviations zt.z are 88mm air burst shell fuse, anti-tank and Az electric impact fuse. Most likely the fuses were stored separate from the charge.

    • @David-kq7cw
      @David-kq7cw Před 6 lety +2

      I don't think it would be logical to have big stacks of just the fuzes in that particular bunker. I think that in there, there were 3 stacks of 88mm Flak shells with fuze types that correspond to the ceiling markings. That way, the ammunition could be used straight away . If the charges were stored seperately from the fuzes, they could not be used immediately when needed. That doesn't make sense.

      Panzer Schokolade I know it sounds illogical, but if a naval or armoured force arrived and your limited amount of shells were fused for AA, you’ll spend a lot of time unscrewing tips. No, the shell-up would be ordered and attached, in the way multi part naval charges were packed before use. More fuses would be stored than shells, especially the multi-use 88mm.

    • @thekingsilverado9004

      @@David-kq7cw Those diff rooms around the corner from one another were just that to keep the fuses separated. Static electricity especially from a WOOL coat and gloves could set shit off. Most of gun crews rubber and leather vests and gloves even rubber sleeves. Most deff they store the stuff separated unless under threat and that was there was always 6-10 men to a crew to make that quick prep work short work.

    Great video bud!!! 👍
    Ok, so I know living so close to the battlefields of WWII is a double edged sword but I'm going to focus on the plus side. You're so lucky to be able to explore the battlefields so easily. I would love being able to spend a day or two walking along the Atlantic Wall.

    I wish I lived there. I would metal detect everyday that I possibly could. I would constantly explore those places. Just awesome. Every time I watch things like this, I picture german soldiers running around.
