HEEEY GUYS!
I'm looking for video ideas / Iceland topics for my upcoming videos! 👀
Soooo I wanted to check: What would YOU like to see?
Iceland travel itineraries, Icelandic phrases to learn before your trip, road trip stuff??
I genuinely would love to know so that I can make exactly the type of content that you'd be most interested in seeing.
Let me know! ✌🏻❤
Proper clothing for Iceland in Winter. Also links to the apparel
100% icelandic phrases. Also specific stuff to pack (and things you might think of packing but that wouldn't be that helpful, I.E umbrellas because of rain/snow but not accounting for the wind)
Blue Ice Cave vs Katla Dragon Glass Ice Cave
travel itineraries and road trip stuff :)
Hi dear, could you tell more about Icelandic phrases and the northern part, also the northwest of your beloved country. Especially the herds there. Take care❤
I just went to Iceland last week and lemme tell ya ‘ , I’ve heard Iceland is one of the most safest countries in the world but this is a big lie cus i came back to North Carolina and found out Iceland stole my heart so ….i have another reason to go back .
All of my love to ICELAND 🇮🇸
Ahahaha! 😂 Yes, Iceland has been known to steal a few hearts!
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay Zarco and we hope to see you again sooon! ❤️🇮🇸
@@WakeUpReykjavik. thank you !!!!!!
You bet
This one had us in the first half 😂
Great video. 👍
I am a bit baffled as to why you gave the temperatures in Fahrenheit. Maybe you should have called your video "Practical Travel Tips for Americans".
Thanks for a video with practical info, non annoying music of close up footage of your girlfriend smiling, like the other Iceland travel videos have
Hey! Great video, it helped me a lot to prepare my winter trip to Iceland, thank you!. I did not expect the crazy storm that I ended up in! The weather is no joke there in winter! It was a beautiful and challenging adventure, that I will always remember! :)
Great stuff. Hoping to check out the Southern coast next time I visit. Thanks for the tips!
Fantastic info, thanks so much!
Just booked a couple of tours for tonight and tomorrow! Excited! Xx
Thank you Dan. I'm coming to Iceland from Australia in February 2024. I can't wait to visit!
I’ll be there in September! I can’t wait!!!!!! 🎉❤
This video was super helpful! Thanks! I'm thinking about booking my trip for this coming winter very soon.
Great information, cant wait for my holiday there now

So helpful, thank you
Thinking of booking a trip in late March and came across your video. Excellent advice. Thank you
i’ll be booking northern lights with you guys VERY SOON
Very useful advice. Thank you. I will tip the people who serve me when I come to Iceland.
Planning to visit this upcoming January or March, so this video was most helpful! Knowing that the snowstorms tend to happen January, might make me go for March, we'll see! Thank you.
Thanks 🙏🏾
THANK YOUU
thanks, great video - planning our Jan'23 trip now and we love a food tour!
My friend Chris!

Wonderful! Thanks for the kind words. I just saw your email and will be sending over a reply in the next few minutes! Super excited to see you guys here in January! ❄️❤️
Thank you so much for the info! It will come really useful for our December trip!
Glad it was helpful Julia!
I recently made an 'Iceland in December' video which could also be useful! 🥳

Food Tour! I made it in May 2021and I can highly recommend it!
Thanks for all of the helpful tips. Im planning a trip to Iceland next year and you are a gem!
Thanks for the kind words Tom!
I'm glad this came in handy to you and I hope you have an awesome trip!
Dan :)
@@WakeUpReykjavik. thanks Dan. I will for sure book a food tour with you when I get there! Cheers!
@Linl I haven't yet. I was considering a one way cruise to Iceland, hang out there and then fly back. I'm thinking next year!
These are such great tips! Thank you for posting.
Thanks for the nice words my friend, I really appreciate it and glad the video came in handy!
Thank you for a very informative video. We are currently looking for flights, hotel and tours for December. So looking forward to see the Northern Lights.
Heeey Cora!
Happy Saturday - It's Dan here :)
That's wonderful news. December is such a fun time to experience Iceland so I am sure you'll love it!
I'm in the process of making a 'Iceland in December - Everything You Need to Know' video which will be uploaded next week with all my very best recommendations and info on special dates and events in December that can be good to know about in advance. I recommend subscribing to the channel so you don't miss it! 🎅🏻🎄
Thank you for this video! Our flights say Reykjavik but have now discovered it’s actually Keflavik we are flying into 🙈 xx
Sooo confusing, right??
I'm glad you noticed this now. Getting to Reykjavik isn't really a big hassle (multiple ways to do it) but always good to know ahead of time that it's 45 minutes away from where you'll land in order to prepare :)
I hope you have an awesome trip Stephanie!
Warmest regards,
Dan :)
Thanks for the tip on the food walk (and for the discount code!). Had a great time with Lily and returned to three of the venues later in our stay. Eating out, for us anyway, was not cheap in Reykjavik so it was handy to have an idea of the quality of what you were buying in advance. Thanks.
Heeey Rob!
Dan here 🥳
That's wonderful to hear. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed our food tour, and that you had Lilja as your guide. She's so great!
Thanks for letting me know, I'll be sure to pass this onto Lilja, she'll be glad to hear it! ❤️
Great video thanks Dan. Will be booking for early 2023!
Awesome Una!
I'm sure you'll love it here next month!
Warmest regards,

I just returned from Iceland two weeks ago!! Such an awesome experience!! I was not able to see the Northern Lights as it was too cloudy- but went to the Perlan and saw the Northern Lights show, among other things- what a nice interactive museum. Also, I should have booked the Blue lagoon prior to my arrival- no openings- but went to the Sky Lagoon and it was beautiful!! I have so much to still see- so will definitely return!!
Happy to hear about your experience dear Maria!
Since you did not see the lights, you definitely have plenty of reasons to return for a second trip! We would love to see you here again :)
Only back today from Iceland, love it..the best experience ever.
aww how wonderful to hear Jeny! I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🇮🇸❤️

Thank you so much! i'm traveling to Iceland in Dec to Mar for an Artist Residency, and am absolutely looking forward to it.
In April, my family will come up to visit, and we'll probably be headed to Reykjavik to walk around and tour, so the food and sightseeing tours sound amazing too.
Will be tuning in regularly, thank you for sharing these tips. It really helps! ❤
Hey Shirley!
Dan here :)
Thank you so much for kind words. I'm glad to hear that this has been useful. I definitely recommend tuning in as we'll be posting frequently from here on out. And as we get closer to next April, I'll be sure to make a video specifically for that month with info on what to expect, events happening in Iceland during April, weather etc.
Awesome as well to hear that you'll be joining our tours. I have no doubt you'll love them!
@@WakeUpReykjavik. Hi Dan! LOVE the video, and looking forward to more great content!
Meanwhile, i cannot wait to spend the entire winter alone in Iceland. It's going to be awesome!❤
Great video! My wife and I are visiting in December and one of the things I was wondering about was parking in the city. We’d like to stay in Reykjavik but also have a car to explore the country. How difficult / expensive is it to park in the city?
Sharing this with friends traveling to Iceland this winter, they all thought it was super helpful.
Awesome, thanks Wolf Girl! I'm glad it was helpful!

Thank you!
I just booked the food walk!
Wish I had seen the video before and booked accommodation close to the centre.
Thank you so much!
And just booked the northen lights tour too!
WONDERFUL! Awesome to hear that you're coming to Iceland and that you're signed up for the tours. I have no doubt you'll have a wonderful time!

@@WakeUpReykjavik. You're welcome! I was really interested in your food/drink tour and then going straight from that to a northern lights tour, but my flight is scheduled to land at 3:15, so I'm not sure if that would give us enough time to get from the airport, check in to the hotel and make it on time.
This is a wonderful video!
Thank you so much Kelli!
Loved this video! We're planning our family trip for Sept -Oct, onle a week and a half, but we're already thinking we're gonna have to plan a part 2 as there are way too many things to see and do. Can you recommend activities for kids around 6? We're renting a car and have planned many stops and lots of sightseeing, but we're finding that a lot of the activities we'd like to do are not for his age. ❤
Super helpful video - thank you so much! I'm looking at visiting in January. Is the volcano still erupting, too?
Great tips thank you 🙏
Thank you so much Mike. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very helpful, well done. I'm coming with my whole family to Iceland for 3 night stopover between USA and mainland Europe in mid December. We're excited!
I did the same thing two weeks ago- the 3 night stopover from USA to Iceland on Icelandair. I then traveled on to Ireland. Have fun!!

Planning to visit from 12/29/22 to 01/06/22 and loved your video . How would you plan your itinerary in order to cover the tours you suggested. Planning on taking advantage of your input.
Nice
We are coming in January, it’s always been a dream of mine.
Awesome!
I hope you'll have a wonderful time :)
Warmest regards,

Hi. Thank you for this informative practical tips. I am very keen in visiting Iceland this year but i am not sure what month would be the best to see the Northern Lights.
Great info. We were there Dec 2021 during Winter Solstice and had a great time. Coming back this December. Flights and lodging booked.
Head’s up, thought for the arrival day. Our flight from DC arrives at 6:30am so be ready to be tired that morning, especially for the drive in the dark from airport to Reykjavik. Be careful and ready. And, be ready to have to kill a few hours before being able to check in to lodging. Some good walking tours are great for that first day until you can check in.
Glad you liked the video and great tips! It can definitely be tricky to adjust to the darkness! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 😀
great video, you speak very well. I'm thinking of going to Iceland to see the Northern Lights and see the whole island in February, do you think it's a bad idea due to the much more chance of storms?
I hope you have a great day,
Myself and my boyfriend just returned from Iceland Wednesday and done all three of the recommended tours, including starting off with the Northern Lights on our first night and got to see them. Followed by the South Island tour and finished with the Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon. Our tour guides were amazing and have so much information and history.
We stayed a bit further out the city in the Grand Hotel Reykjavik which suited us. Such a beautiful island, we’d love to come back for another visit again!
Heeey Ashton!
Dan here :)
Awesome! That's wonderful to hear!!
Thanks for letting me know Ashton and we hope to see you again here in Iceland!
Warmest regards,
Dan :)
Hey Ashton, thanks for sharing your experience. My husband and I plan to visit Iceland soon, could you provide me with details of your tour guides. Thanks
Hey Ashton, planning on going as well. Could you share the tour guides? And any valuable tips :)
Thank you SOOOO much for this! Very helpful as I’m planning our trip. You have so many tips!
When do you recommend going there for the Northern Lights?
Heeeeello Kitty!
Dan here :)
Awesome. I really enjoy doing these videos and will be posting a lot more - and it puts a smile on my face hearing that they're useful!
For Northern Lights, the technical season is from mid-August to mid-April, since that's the time of year when it's dark enough to see them. There isn't really one particular month that's known to have the best chances since they are unpredictable and can be seen in that 8 month time frame. I sometimes do recommend trying to arrive at the start or end of the northern lights season (September/October or March) since it's less likely that we'll have heavy snow storms/rain in those months which will block the visibility of the lights!
I hope this comes in handy Kitty!
Dan :)
@@WakeUpReykjavik. thank you!
Right now our plan is to go in January. Do you think that’s a bad time to see them?
Also once our trip is booked, looking forward to joining your food tour!
I’d love to see video of these tours actually shot during the winter. Obviously there will be snow and ice - most of these videos show green hills and sunny blue skies, not realistic for winter. You can say something “is beautiful during winter time” but it’s not helpful if you trying to envision a winter tour
That's a great point, thank you Sarah!
Even though we've been in business since 2014, we've just recently started to shoot video content and videos for our youtube page. So a lot of the clips we have are from the summer months. We'll be sure to record more videos this winter when Iceland is covered in snow and ice which we'll then be able to use going forward. I might need to make an updated 'Iceland in Winter' video using those clips in the future 🥳
Nice
Iceland can be sunny during the winter, and not much snow in some places. What are you talking about?
It's about time that you update this video with the new footage, right?
I'm excited to see how Iceland looks in the winter!
I'm hopefully going to visit during mid-March
Can you recommend a tour group for Northern Lights and Food Tour. We arriving there on Friday early morning for 5 nights from Canada. We are a group of 23.
hotel recommendations
Looking forward to visiting Iceland in mid February. Do the tours still happen if it’s snowing?
We're planning to honeymoon in Iceland next year (fingers crossed) and want to see as much of the country as we can. We're hoping to go in the autumn when the crowds are hopefully lessened. Would you recommend doing a self guided tour, looking into tour groups, or a mix? I'll have to watch more of your videos for tips!
Heeey Amanda!
Dan here .)
Awesome to hear that you're coming to Iceland to celebrate your honeymoon. How fun!!
That's a great question. Self guide can be fun but small groups as well. I think a good mix is a great idea!
And yes! We plan on uploading a new video every Friday (Starting this Friday) so hopefully we'll be able to give you some great local insights and ideas!
I'm from India
Very inspiring videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Dan :)
What a lovely video. Cheers! Should we be nervous about driving a car ourselves on the main roads during February? We're planning on renting a 4x4 ala the Dacia Duster
Thank you for the kind words Jacob!
That's a great question. The Dacia Duster isn't a powerful vehicle, but it works surprisingly well in the snow. I friend of mine drove to Akureyri from Reykjavik (5 hours) in heavy snow just a couple of weeks ago without any problems.
It all depends, have you driven in snow before? At the moment, the weather is quite nice and it would be no problem to drive around outside of Reykjavik. We had some heavy snow a couple of weeks ago where even I, having lived here my entire life, would have been a bit nervous.
So it's a little tricky to predict since we'll have to see what the weather will be like in February.
I'm not sure if I was able to fully give you the answer that you were looking for but I hope this helps haha!
Thanks for your awesome video ! What boots will be really good to take ? I do t want to be cold ! Any brand that you suggest? I don’t have. Any so since I will buy some I would like to know .. also .. I am going for my 5O th birthday and I want to see the northern lights for sure !! So when is the best time to go to see them ? Thanks a lot !
Do buses in Iceland have wheelchair♿ accessible? 🥺
Ive been wanting to go to Iceland for a very long time (years) specially to watch the best stars🌠 and northern lights & kayaking in that canyon
I just get super nervous because I'm going by myself & hope i dont get stuck in the airport😢😂
Great video. One trip i was there in march. snow and roads were so bad. Almost died up north. Where are your guardrails!?!
Hey, thanks for the video. We are coming to Iceland next week, i.e. beginning of March. Would you recommend this time for whale watching?
I'm Icelandic 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸
Hey there guys, greetings from Los Angeles! Considering some of your tours, but was curious is there anything slightly different from these tips if traveling in Mid October? Particularly clothing and tips on keeping legs and feet warm?
Wow love your video, looking forward to visit the last week of september. Is there any chance to see the ligths by tour?
Heeey Gloriana!
Dan here :)
Awww thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed my video :)
YES! September can be a really fantastic time with a high chance of seeing the lights. The reason being that September is dark enough for them to be visible - but at the same time, a month that is less likely to have any snow storms etc :)
1k likes ,,,, wooooo
VUHU! That's what I'm talking about Joe!
Thanks for the like and comment my friend.
Happy Holidays!
Best regards from snowy Reykjavik,
Dan :)
Do you think I’ll get good rates for the tours if I’m going in early March? Also what about the ice caves?
Love this video!! I am visiting Iceland solo in Mid-March 2023 & I'm interested in several of your recommendations. My question in particular is about the walking food tour: would you recommend this food tour to tourists who DO NOT eat seafood? I don't eat anything from the ocean but I'd love to do the tour & try other food options. Thanks!
Hello??
Dan, thanks for the video and tips. Spur of the moment trip booked for end of January 2024. Funny we are leaving from Buffalo NY USA going to Iceland to warm up. The food tour sounds amazing. Is it ok to tip in US dollars?
If you are flying at the end of January aren't you worried the runways at the Iceland airport might be icy, slippery and unsafe?
Can you drive to the West Fjords in November around November 15?
Thanks for the video! It's super helpful and we're so excited to come visit Iceland! One question about the food tour, would it be okay for someone who is vegetarian + no eggs (other dairy is fine)? Or would you recommend against it for that level of dietary restriction?
Hello there Olivia!
Fantastic question! Throughout the years we have found a way to accommodate many dietary restrictions and a vegetarian + no eggs is no problem at all! just be sure to note it in with your booking.
Hopefully we will see you here soon :)
What about those with nut allergys
Great video! I have one question. We are planning on using the bus to town from the airport, but we’re hoping to go to the blue lagoon first as we want to go to the sky lagoon on our way back to the states before our flight home. Is there options for that with the buses? We are already reserved for the food tour at noon on the 3rd of November and are so excited! Thank you for all the wonderful information!
Heeey Channing!
Dan here :)
Thanks for your question my friend. We can't wait to see you on our foodie tour. Super exciting!!
Regarding your question; YES, it's possible to take a bus transfer from Keflavík to Blue Lagoon, and then from Blue Lagoon to Reykjavik. I'll link to it here my friend and I hope it comes in handy; destinationbluelagoon.is/transport
Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with Channing!
Hi Dan, this is Vianca from Panama, we are a party of five going to Iceland on February 2023. How may we make reservations for the foodie tour? Thanks!

Hi,
Loved the video! We are planning to visit in January 😊we wondered if you could recommend any locations for whale watching tours?
HowdyDoody!
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Yes, it's possible to join a Whale Watching tour that departs from downtown Reykjavik all year round. I'll link to it here if you'd like to check it out: wakeupreykjavik.com/tour/whale-watching-tour
*There are also whale watching tours that depart from other areas in Iceland (Akureyri and Húsavík).
I hope this comes in handy!
Best of luck Howdy!

@@WakeUpReykjavik. awesome man thankyou!!
I am planning a 9 day trip over Christmas. From what we've read, we are interested in doing the Ring Road in a campervan (cheaper and more flexibility) but I'm worried about how difficult it will be to drive on the roads (we don't have snow where I'm from) and I'm worried about campsites being open and being frozen and miserable sleeping in the campervan. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Daniel, we are planning a trip to Iceland in the Autumn 23/09- 8/10. What could you recommend?
Of course, it already includes the Food Walk with you. Thank you. Best Regards, Dmitry
I understand not many businesses take American Express. If that's your primary card, plan to take a 2nd option.
Thanks for the video. We are planning to be there Nov 23-28 and would like to see Golden circle, Snæfellsnes, South Iceland (Vik, Black Sand beach, falls etc). Eventhough we would like to rent a car and drive around as it will give us more time to enjoy the places and avoid coming back to Reykjavik for the night; I also don't want to drive in snow for a long time. Given how things are now what is your suggestion/forecast - drive or tours. Appreciate your insights.
Heeey Raj!
Dan here :)
Thanks for the kinds words. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Awesome to hear that you'll be visiting soon!
It hasn't started to snow yet, and I think it's rather unlikely that it will in the next couple of weeks so I don't think you'll need to worry about that.
I guess pros and cons to both: Driving on your own, you'll be able to make longer stops at each spot. On the tours you'll have a guide that'll be able to share some fun info and details about each spot that you visit.
But I'm sure you'll love whichever option you end up choosing :-)
I hope this helps!
Important tips buddy. I was wondering if remote campsites would accept Visa credit cards or not! Can you throw some light?
