- Diesel Power Challenge 2017 Presented by XDP continues, with competitors racing head-to-head and flat-out on the quarter-mile dragstrip at Bandimere Speedway. The event is run in a “Quick 8” format, where the top 8 qualified trucks are paired and run off in eliminations to see who is the fastest!
Starting October 9th, 2017, host Brian Lohnes takes you through our weeklong torture test that features 6 competitive events, 10 trucks, and 23,172.2 combined horsepower and torque at the rear wheels. We push Cummins-, Duramax-, and Power Stroke-powered trucks well beyond their limits in this search for the ultimate street-legal diesel truck and driver.

To those complaining,
When you're making crazy amounts of power, you will break parts. That's the nature of the game.
Looks like not running an intercooler really paid off lmao
Lol right 😆
Kaeden Smith you don't need a intercooler for 1/4 mile
Me not know "retarded voice"
@@emoo9264 You dont know what an intercooler does do you?
Accolades for the coverage on these races! Super camera angles, and in-pit interviews. All together a really polished presentation. Great job to the Diesel Power team!!
Lmao on that sweet death wobble
That was probably just warped brake rotors though since he was slowing down in the shut down area.
As a dodge guy, that's pretty much par for the course
Saw a jeep and a dodge truck on the highway get a good case of the death wobble... It was interesting to see from the outside!
its just too much engineering
He's got the Shaker package... ;)
maybe if dingus over there ran an intercooler, the truck wouldn't have gotten so hot......
14:28 That awkward moment when a 8 thousand lbs truck is a 10 second "car". Eat your heart out all you orange Supras out there! He lives his life a 1/4 mile at a time ✊
Amazing how some of these would outrun a Hellcat, and others would lose to my stock 5.0 F-150.
Jay B lol
OFFRD Some of them would lose to my fat ass on a bicycle. Broken rigs tell no tails when it comes to racing.
But only in staraight..hahahahahaha,drag cars suck.
Go to Japan they know how build beast:)
Tony Valdez
Yeah, because 120hp 35mpg 4 bangers are SOOOOooo much fun. If you really want to see how to build a car for the twisties go to Europe.
Remind me again which car was the most successful by far in GT racing over the last 20 years?
Hint: It's not European.
Best part about this challenge is getting to see people destroy there trucks while I still get to enjoy my old piece of shit that still goes
Wait, the chevy broke a axle shaft?......... NO WAY, no one saw that coming..... lol

Generic

Crap
💩
chefdan87. Chevy did break an axle shaft but ford could even race properly because he had an exhaust leak
Mine is always tie rod ends. Straight axle swap here i come.

@@tman5434 yep atleast that dmax has ifs so it can be changed quickly
Well no shit McCoy that's why they make intercoolers!!!
Christopher Benfield I wonder how much horsepower he's leaving on the table by not using an intercooler
he could do water injection at least, but naaah ....
Exactly that truck was turned up way to much to not have ethanol spray and an intercooler to keep it from destroying itself.
You can do non-intercooled, but you have to do away with gaskets like Rolls Royce did back in the day.
Fuck it let er rip eh guys.
It's sad the the most impressive part of this event was the 12 minute axle shaft change.
"A clean run!" *sounds of all the spectators coughing because of the clouds of black smoke*
what spectators?
Thats why that 2nd gen needs an intercooler
really impressive reliability...i remember when they first started doing this it seemed like everybody broke and now were actually getting great racing...good show guys and thanks again
What´s the purpose of all that power if you cannot even make a one clean 1/4 mile run. Amusing.
This series being held in Colorado is a joke.
yeah its such a joke, who the fuck needs 3000Nm of torque if you are only grenade transmissions and snap driveshafts but its still fuckig badass man long live 'murica
Velhis V merica
Most of these trucks aren’t drag tucks. Some are dyno queens, some are built this way just because they can.
Some of them are dyno queens, the red dodge looks to me like a truck puller, and the others are just "hey let's see what we can do". None of them are built for drag racing, so of course they aren't great at it.
6.0 powered truck is going to win it again - LOVE IT.
Not being a jerk, but I thought that 6.0 wasn’t very good. I know lots of guys that have blown them. Personally at least 6 people. I’m guessing they get really good after all that bullet proof diesel stuff gets done? One friend did that but his truck rarely gets used anymore. The rest have moved on to dodge or the new fords. They all tow and don’t race so not sure if this makes a difference.
Shane P my 06 stock besides exhaust and egr delete has 200,000 hard towing miles on it and never had a issue besides injectors had 120,000 miles. 6.0s took alot of shit because the egr system and people throwing tunes on them turning them up ridiculous amounts of horsepower. Ask any diesel tech who really knows them engines and they will tell you they are one of the best engines especially if you put in head studs
A guy Ik, that has had 5 6.0s he loves them, he just gets like the delete kits and replaces the heads, he's had his recent one for like a while! I think it had 300k on it
Kyle Q head gaskets 😂
I really wanted to see someone run 9's lol. I know some of those trucks have it in them.
The drivers don’t though lmao
add some slicks and i can see it going to very low 10's and high 9's
No intercooler at over 1k hp between nitrous and all kinds of boost is asking for trouble
"A beautifully clean run through the first 1/8 mile"
Blowing huge cloud of black smoke, LOL. Awesome.
Check out the random cursor ghost at 1:40
That's a bug lol
We're All Thieves ☆Kudos☆ to you for the eagle eyes
sp00ky
Diesel Challenge always fun to watch!
Great job on the year of the trucks !!
some great racing
My favorite part of diesel truck challenge!
Nicely done, Brian.
Man.... Those super torquy pre stages are pure joy to watch
When the 6.0 is the most reliable old there😂
One*
It would be so nice to see this competition held somewhere closer to sea level. Just once.
I live just a couple minutes away from that track! Awesome place :)
There's more spectators at a lethal injection...
SP02 I think it may be a closed event.
LOL
Lmao!!!
More drama there
i fell asleep waiting for them to spool up
This looks like serious fun.
these trucks are good. doing 10's in a quarter mile with a diesel engine is pretty impressive.
Axel shaft swap in 12 minutes
GM dealer: yeah that one will take about 12 hours you looking at $1,650
6.0 for the win!
i’m excited to see who wins top 3.
I love it
YAS!
Six-point-oh baby!
Some good times for big heavy diesels
They really put these trucks through hell with all these events lol
If only that 2nd gen wouldnt have gotten so hot buddy would’ve blown every truck there 😂
Looks like Keeter is gonna take it this year again
The sport of kings.
Someone needs to bring an excursion with the 7.3
mopar man57 to deliver snacks?
chris martin hey at least it’ll run all day long with no problems.
Fuck dude, you just hit my nostalgia bone. I grew up in one of those. My dad sold it with 193k on it and zero engine problems in 13 years
The dodge death wobble. Glorious
For those that don't understand the 6.0 well let me explain. The bad rap it earned early on was due to new emissions devices and an antifreeze that could clog the oil cooler. The motor itself is a work horse and on it's own reliable. Most people have learned the benefits of them and now that the new engines and trucks are so computer reliant everyone wants the 6.0. They have gone up in value tremendously since I bought mine 7 years ago.
Those things were the common issues that lead to the overheating and head gasket failure so many experienced...i should have said that
Saying that they've gone up in value tremendously is a bit of a stretch. I was in the used diesel truck market quite recently and was considering a 6.0 because you can get such great deals. From what I saw they still sell for a little less than a comparable 7.3 and much less than a comparable 5.9 CR
You forgot injector issues. BIG injector issues
James Jay do a little more research before you post next time, your truck is barely worth anything.
I am a mechanic and a ford guy and I disagree. It was never and still is not a great engine and I would never own one
there better be come good money in this comp
Are there any performance advantages to having the trucks lifted so high?
Build Threads none
6.0 baby did it again!!!!!!
funny This one actually looks pretty%amazingbrother
Wow, not one spectator! Really hyped up event
well for being a 6.0 and not breaking, it put up a good race. 6.0 all the way!
Where is all the 6.0l naysayers???
Do they take their tailgate off to make the truck more aerodynamic?
WOW, i have to admit , that ford did a good job !!!!
So I commented in the previous video that Kevin Jacob wasnt wearing his seatbelt for the trailer pull. Now I see in this video, while he's wearing his belts, he forgot to do up his helmet strap. LOL
6.0 Super Duty 🤙🏻
Why fold mirrors when you basically driving a block
Super très bien marché
Bunkleman is my favorite last name now
That first pass was impressive for a quarter mile time considering its a heavy lifted truck, Dominic toretto would be proud
what does dulcich do with that challenger body from that q&a nowday's ?
That blue cummins is just awesome
.... which one theres several blue cummins
As the former owner of a fast old 4x4 dodge I knew exactly why that 1st Cummins let off after the 1/8th mile lol
Amazing how it smokes then we breath it.
This is like watching your dad ride your scooter 🛴 at the skate bowl as a kid 😂
Good shit here
*Eyyy McCoy FTW*
Whats up with the loose "Nos" Button? Why not have it mounted
I am a Chevy guy, but WHY does GM continue to stick with the
ifs on heavy duty trucks? IFS has no place on a heavy duty work truck...
Drag race diesel, thailand is the king
Welcome to diesel power broke ass trucks edition 2017.
Goat beard? Seriously?
Powerstroke !
What is the common engine for a square body?
I love how their mirrors are folded as if drag matters in those things haha
I feel bad for the 2 guys standing in the middle 😂
cool
Their second ride is Prius
13:53 That bracket, though.
I'm guessing there's a rule about tires? Like you can only run one type/set for the entire competition. Because it looks like Keeter is the only one with tires that make sense for this event.
That big black 6.4 wobbles way too much
I really wanted to see keeter and black race each other, would of been a great race
I think you guys need to add a reliability test to the competition.
The bracket had the names all messed up. People were winning races they weren’t even in.
6.0 babbyyyyy
He's definitely adding an intercooler now
McCoy black that thing it’s a monster I hope he makes it
Ye buddy
can't be impressed all that money and can't run better than that. my 02 chevy 2500 6.0 gas runs 16.4 all day with 300,000 on it
how many people do you know with a 10 second truck?
one. The owner of pro-fab performance.
Challenge is witch truck doesn’t break down till the end
Was that death wobble?
It is usually caused by bad alignment of the front tires. It's normal to have a little toe in on the front tires meaning the front tires point inwards. This causes them track better in a straight line, if done improper tracking will start to swap from left to right front wheel in rapid succession causing the steering to get out of control.
At least that's as i understand it.
Yup!
its almost always nothing to do with the alignment itself. It can be from a host of things. Ball joints, tie rods, steering stabilizers, drag links, there's a ridiculous amount of things that generally contribute to death wobble. Ive known guys who have replaced their entire front end and still have death wobble.
Yea something in his suspension isn’t right..
Torque monsters.... Yes really
Where’s the 2018 one
the only reason keeter is winning is he's using nos when the other truck's aren't
That 2nd gen dodge is fast
Those front shafts…. Such a weak point in the truck. I had a 2001 Duramax,…. it wasn’t tuned crazy, and I didn’t do any crazy off roading, but I probably swapped 6 of those shafts out over the time I owned the truck.
Yeesh, the things will keep up with a lot of stock litre bikes. Well, for 1 run at least.
