So the fastest truck looses because it is not allowed to race as fast as it can... Great competition (NOT)
Yep very strange
It is a stupid rule, but after a certain ETA, vehicles require basic roll cages
Eli Wolfe so he lost because he had no roll cage and ha shouldn't have gone that fast
Allan T exactly haha its stupid but its regulation for the track
Well he could still have won doing an 11.5 but he went 11.9, he slowed down too much.
Dude ran a 11.75 @ 130mph(1/4)...in a diesel truck....holy shit man
diesel with 20-30 grand put into it. im not impressed
boostedevoviii you are fucken stupid. ...I can take a new diesel
boostedevoviii any one .. ford Dodge ...chevy....put a programmer on it...maybe change gears...and run high 12's...u dont need to spend that much to make a good pass
What the fuck he spends on his truck doesnt make a fuck to me... you didn't spend it out of ypur wallet either. ...so what the fuck difference does it make to u...if he spent 20,000 or strapped a rocket on the fucken back of it....it's entertainment. ...you dont like it...dont fucken watch it
Shannon Bunch ya then got the boot..a bunch of cheating going on here..must be ran by lib's.
Figures the Dodges beat the piss out of everything else. Nothing new to see here. ;o)
Remind me never to buy a stealth pump for my 7.3
So the fastest 2 trucks aren't allowed to compete.........Anddddd in one race, he loses, even with the faster ET. lmfao. GET REAL MOTORTREND.
Danny Contreras Then run on a nor-NHRA track! If the trucks have to hold back, then what's the point?
JerOutlaw Whoa buddy. I understand the NHRA rules, but I think it's retarded that if a vehicle runs faster than what it's outfitted for it gets disqualified, but only in some cases. This is a prime example of what I'm talking about. This is the Diesel Power Challenge, a competition for built diesel trucks to show of what they've got. There's no need to bring the NHRA into this at all... Could've ran a 1/4 mile somewhere else and gotten true times instead of this regulated bullshit.
Great lineup of trucks this year but the 7.3 powerstroke has my heart (coming from a chevy guy)
So the White Cummins and the single cab duramax trucks cant run becasue there are too fast, but the third place finisher gets the win.
11:98 - White Ram | Loses
12:03 - Red Ram | Wins
Doesn't make sense.
That's what I was wondering!
its heads up racing its about who crosses the line first et's and mph dont matter
google "holeshot win"
RT is everything. He ran a slower 1/4 time but his reaction time was notably quicker (meaning he was under power prior to the loser of the race.)
god thats horse shit.
Motor trend should make another muscle car show down with the camaro z28 and mustang gt500 and the challenger srt8 hellcat
You can go to fast? That's bullshit. I hate these challenges all they have is regulations
It's not the challenges regulations it's nhras regulations and that's an nhra track so the track has to follow those regulations for anybody
Oducks58 whats sad is they want you to be safe so you have to go to the race track were you cant hurt anyone on the street, But then they say your to fast to be on the track so guess what... you are forced to go to the street! lol
Gotta love the disgusting american legal system, a disgruntled widow sues the nhra and all of a sudden nobody gets to have any fun.
If the nhra wasn't liable, I bet they wouldn't care.
I guess you don't know much about drag racing
Shocked at how bad this video was edited. Even more surprised at Motor Trend.
Cummins Power boys....Cummins power!
God, I love this stuff. And the host is really great too.
I wanna see that sexy 95 powerstroke that truck is awesome keeping up with the these young trucks
for reference, the new SRT Hellcat, that MT just tested did 12 in the 1/4...these are some impressive trucks!!
Doesn't that huge amount of black smoke indicate terribly wrong fuel/air calibration?
Or is it the turbos not spooling up quickly enough?
But then again, mid-way through, you shouldn't see smoke.
entertaining to watch for sure! guys dumping big money into there truck!
Why are they making these so short?? Between cutting out parts from the obstacle coarse to not filming the qualifying runs on the 1\4 mile race...I feel like a lot of action is being skipped.
Those trucks were getting down the track pretty fast!
6:37 *Great Strategy:* Kaufman (Red Dodge) knew Miller (White Dodge) would slow down and try to race him to the line (like he did with Anderson at 3:08), because Miller didn't want to go faster than 11.5s (he had been warned at 2:15). Kaufman didn't start off with as much boost, then pedaled it, and by the time he caught up, he was a lot faster than Miller and managed to hold him off past the finish line.
Dodge ram for the win!
Wow 11.48 is shockingly good for such a huge machine or any vehicle for that matter
Anyone else notice the dodges are the only ones not falling apart?
You guys are all arm chair experts.
Damn son, these monsters are faster than my motorcycle in the 1/4 mile.
+Creme De La Creme
Doubt it. I'm seeing trucks here that are running the quarter in the 11s. Sportsters typically run it in the 13s (assuming the 1200cc engine). Sportsters with the 883cc engine will have even slower times.
XL1200S Sportster = 13.15 sec (Motorcycle News, 10/99)
XL1200C Sportster = 12.99 sec (Motorcycle News, 12/03)
XL1200N Nightster = 13.21 sec (Motorcycle News, 07/07)
My bike:
Honda Magna 750 = 12.49 sec (Motorcycle News, 07/99)
I swear at one point I smelled diesel coming from my computer
yea, cummins
Is there going to be more DPC? Doesn't have to be a full official competition, but some more content with these kinds of trucks, would be nice to watch more of!
enigmaPL they usually do it in the summer so around july or august dpc 2015 should be out
You should come to Mexico to do the next diesel power challenge... Down here nobody gives a fuck if you run 150 mph in a stroller or a dragster haha... Fuck regulations!!
Shilo ellingford is from my town that truck really throws down on the dyno. I thought they were trying to sell that truck if i remember right.
Congratulations on having the second fastest truck and winning the whole event. This was bogus.
i can feel the environment weeping
This shit would be way better if they made into one long episode. ill just wait till its all done
sucks, the track should have stayed out of it, miller lifted twice, it bit him the second time. not really as good of an end as it should have been. hope they figure out how to keep that from happening next year. love this challenge, and they've improved from last year, keep it up
it's suffocating just to see those black smoke.
Allways Will The Diesle World Will Be The RAM
RAM POWER!!!
Damn diesels polluting our semi-clean Colorado air.
Miller's Cummins is badass
It's nifty they threaten to DQ Miller for going to quick, but they let the winner pull his safety gear off while still on the track. Get your crap together DPC.
white dodge with the long bed and stretched tires and no ps... swear ive seen it in person. anyone know where he's from?
At 6:56, I don't understand how the guy with the slower time can come in first to win the race.
he crossed the finish line first
It goes from green light to finish line. Basically ET + RT. So the ET may be lower, but the total time was slower.
Where is the new "Pony Car" shoot Out? The Challenger Hellcat is estimated to hit 205 mph top speed at the Nardo Italy track and 199 mph at the Kingman AZ track. Which auto publication will be the first to do the complete testing?????? MT??? ;o)
Real men drive Dodge and as you can see the Fords are living up to there name LOL
Certified to 11:50? Why can't he go as fast as he want?
It's a safety issue since he has no roll cage in the truck. Most tracks are like this
Tires maybe?
maybe need a roll cage
Your guess is as good as mine
The faster they go, the more safety measures they need in the truck. Eg. if they run < 11.5 it's a roll cage, if it's < 10.0 it needs something else, next bracket down it might need wheelie bars, then a chute, etc. Different countries and regulatory bodies have different standards.
People that don't understand the "baby on board"/baby in car seat thing, need to relax and get a sense of humor.
Why is his kid is the car seat on a drag race???
The smoke is unspent fuel, it helps cool egts win these trucks r pushed to the ragged edge
Every cummins in the final eh? What does that tell ya about your fords and chevys
Why even bother having a competition that restricts the the performance of the participants. And why are there participants that are not participating? They buy their way in?(not referring to the broken trucks. referring to the no shows)
Fastest and lightest truck vs. the truck with the least power.
Makes sense...
They do that on purpose to get it out of the way quickly.
I dont get how going fractions of a second faster is more dangerous than 10+ mph higher speeds? Oook
I really doubt that any of these tires are rated for more than 90ish mph.
Interesting rules in this competition when it comes to safety. One can't run because he's too fast.
Another races with his child in the back seat.
See 6:50
I noticed a baby in back for the trailer contest too! Is it joke or his real son raised up in a diesel
Anyone know what would 2013 ecoboost f150 fx4 would run down the track
About 13.7 seconds at sea level if I recall correctly. They do 0-60 in 6.2 according to MotorTrend.
As far as I know my buddy's ran mid to high 14s all day.
I'm still at a loss to understand why in the previous event when they were pulling the skid steers behind them, they weren't required to wear helmets. Now they're on the same track doing the same thing over twice the distance with nothing being towed behind, they gotta wear helmets. I know it's about safety, but why not wear a helmet while doing the 1/8th mile pull as well? Strange rules.
The drag event when they were towing was only the 1/8 mile at much lower speeds. Not the quarter.
Here in Australia, if you're hitting any regulated dragstrip, be it 1/4 mile or 1/8th mile, you're required to wear a helmet, even before your car goes in for scrutineering, you gotta have yourself sorted before the car is sorted, and there's no half-measures.
STAG162 NHRA (and NHDRA) rules here state for vehicles 14.00 Seconds & Slower 1/4 mile (8.60 1/8 mile) you don't require a helmet. www.nhrda.com/drag_racing_rules.php
That's where ANDRA is maybe a bit overzealous.
STAG162 They were hitting 65-70mph at best on the 3rd day of challenges. There's a big safety gap between 65-70 and 120mph. While I still think it's silly, it's very easy to manage a vehicle at 65-70, trailer or otherwise, compared to a truck doing 120+
Wait what happened to the blue Chevy
Where do they do these DPC races at? I've been looking for the spot for some time now....Would really like to enter if someone can give me a site or something.
Whats the point of drag racing if you cant go faster than a certain time
Experienced drag racers? You must've been watching a different competition.
just a question, Miller had been told he'd be disqualified for a et faster than 11.50 but Kaufman was awarded the win on an 11.48......... wow sounds real "Fair"
Matthew George if you don't have a roll cage for your et that it matches then the tracks won't let you run down it
Hearing 'shilo' all the time is just so wierd. Around my country it's a verry rare name. wierd
Where is the 6.7 powerstroke
That was a bit disappointing. Most of the trucks broke down.
Where the hell is day 5.???
Wait can someone explain to me what it means when he said Lavon Miller's truck isn't certified to go that fast? Thank you.
It means exactly what you think it means. He is not supposed to go that fast.
Donnie Buchanan But why?
Rahul Ramakrishnan The vehicle needs a roll cage and a few vehicle modifications to be allowed to go that quick.
this guy announcing doesn't know what hes talking about. the only reason miller lost to kaufman was because he was peddling at half track to make sure he didn't run faster than 11.5, u can see when he gets back on it but it was too late and got passed.
Theres a baby in the back of that white Dodge. What the hell.
That's baby carlos from the hangover, it's a doll. Supposed to be a joke I guess.
what is the name of the song at 0:04 ???????????????????
How the hell did the white Cummins lose to the red one?
I find it funny that everyone who has no idea what any of the lingo of drag racing means and nothing about the NHRA is saying how it's rigged and that motortrend is doing a terrible job
People in general are ignorant as fuck.
Autoboxes, put the pedal down and that's it.
Its a Cummins,and Mopar world....
Holy shit these trucks are huge yet crazy fast!!! Are they modded or stock??? Cuz that's impressive if stock!!!
Yh a stock truck is running 11.7 @ 130mph are you that dumb or just a troll
From a physics prospective it's hard to believe such heavy trucks can run so fast. So no I'm not dumb you idiot. They are supercharged and turbo charged, so that makes more sense. I was making a simple observation. No need to insult me.
eidolonbreed all diesel trucks are turbocharged from factory, they mod it by changing exhaust, injectors, adding a tuner, etc. -_-
@@reggiegangwish5539 "all diesels are turboed from the factory" totally not true. Chev/Detroit 6.2 comes to mind, or the 80s fprd 6.9/7.3idi diesels. Straight NA.
What if I were to tell you that these trucks were faster than my Geo Metro!!?!? #blumpkin
1st Dodge
2nd Dodge
3rd Dodge
Usually I am a Dodge Guy, but I felt that Chevy might have won this event if it didn't have issues. I don't think the Dodges will do well in the remaining events. Dodge trucks are typically scoffed at for being too street truck. Not surprising they go down a drag strip faster.
I am a dodge guy to but from what I have heard about that blue chevy it probably would have won this challenge if it did not break down.
Lol there turtles
In the discription it says 8,000hp and 15,000 pound feet and no one had over 3,000 pound feet where's there logic??
I think they were talking combined power from all trucks
Where is Jesse?
Racin Witt his son in the back
Wow look at that crowd!!! I can barley hear the presenter over all the screams.
Private event = no crowd
Why didn't y'all do cummins bs cummins?
biggest bull ever! both the white ram and the red ram should have been disqualified!
Dodge is the BEST
c'mon drag racing with your child in the back seat smh
This seems to be a lot more rushed versus last years event. Not near as in depth footage. Kinda disappointing.
You guys ruined this event, its about the fastest truck, let them go as fast as they can
all these trucks do is bresk down
Yeah, stupid track rules. If you run faster than a certain time without a roll cage on your car you are not allowed to run anymore. I know it's a safety thing but they should have at least made an exception for this event.
11.7 but at 130? That's odd.
So the blue dmax is the fastest truck there but the results show him last? Dumb rules
Ford, Dodge, and Chevy owners will always fight but in the end we all hate Nissan and Toyota
How the fuck is what you said relevant at all.
oh yeah the ram won
Is there a reason these trucks don't run some sort of Drag radial? Dirt tires don't seem the most efficient way of gaining traction.
And WTF is up with truck aerodynamics. Are they even trying?!
Everyone shut up about black smoke.
THIS IS CAUSED BY AN IMPROPER COMBUSTION EFFICIENCY.
Look at ANY Banks power trucks, and no smoke. They don't use DPFs, just a great tune, with the proper a/f.
@ 3:54...is that a toddler in the back seat??? really?
I think it's funny that the 2003-2006 chevy pickup is built buy Isuzu..... It's Japanese not American
Isuzu is made by gm dumbass. duramax's are made and assembled moraine Ohio. don't believe me look up Isuzu i-290, same as. a Chevy Colorado just for an example
All I see is a black middle finger to the environmentalists. And I love it.
Sucked the guy that went 130mph couldn't finish...
I want to see cars drag race not diesel trucks
