Either way, a win for Ford. What's even funnier is that they are both 6.0s!
Everyone says 6.0s suck and they were the two trucks that went to the finals lol
they do suck they get many problems but there very fast
They do have a TON of problems you have to admit
@@diesellife4469 and you can’t even tow with all that power it’s only a race truck, atleast other trucks can tow
Every year this show gets better. Holy crap those trucks are fast.
Stingray
I would have to say the production quality is down this year. The voice overs are recorded with a empty soup can.
Yeah, I also thought that 10.86@137 for a 6/7 thousand lb brick, (especially that mph), was outa this world !!
I agree last year was much better
I always see the cumming vs stroking jokes, and the duramax vs strokes. At the end two powerstrokes kicked all their asses.
''the race track is where the truck belongs'' ohhh murica
We race anything and everything - we have more pickups here than any other place in the world, it makes sense. The amount of ignorance in the comments is astounding - most of these competitors are used to racing near sea level and have the trucks dialed in for that environment. They are racing around 1 mile altitude and it is a drastic difference in tuning and as a result they push the trucks harder than ever before - stuff is going to break. Imagine running your race car the hardest you ever had with 5 tons behind it - think stuff would let loose?
@@D3thM3tal Yeah but what makes so good Racer and a good truck is being able to overcome obstacles like that And making people think twice when they say that the 6.0 is slow and a piece of junk It can still hang with the new big boys It was ironic seeing a Cummins broke down next to a 6.0 still running lol
@@magnacartasamadams8189 because the Cummins has so much more power running through it 😂😂😂
What's the fucking point if these trucks spend more time in the shop than on the dragstrip, build them to last for crying out loud
Charlie Keeter makes it almost every year with that 6.0. Those engines can take juicing like you would not beleive. Drivetrains stronger then the competition aswell.
perhaps if they tuned it to allow SOME air into the engine. not just diesel. they may run better. just sayin
well they do have turbo chargers some of them 3 but unless you are talking about them building a custom intake then yes that would help.
They are at a high elevation which means the air is thinner so they inject more fuel to compensate.
Seymore "Gally" Johnson I'm not familiar with diesels, but why would you add fuel to compensate for lack of air?
Joseph HD you wouldnt. you would actually lean it out as the IDEAL air fuel ratio is a constant number so if you have 1 part fuel:11 parts air at sea level. because of the lower air you would lower fuel.
jack black
compared to stock the trucks are running more fuel do to bigger injectors, but they are also inhaling more air so you are still correct
Looks like Stacy's truck had it's period right in the middle of the race.
My jaw dropped when I saw that huge truck pulled a 10 sec 1/4 mile
Ya and at around 7k ft elevation too lol
Nice! That 6.0 is no joke!!
blows that a majority of the trucks were dead in some way hardly call this drag racing
so because some trucks broke it not drag racing? what race do you go to thaat noone breaks
Why did she even run that duramax? You could hear that thing knocking away when it was staging. You could even hear it on the dyno day.
Schuttsr1 what else is new???Just another day in the life of a Chevy Diesel owner
how the hell did a 6 liter win? Clearly it's a good motor when it's sorted.
All you need is a $200 coolant filter kit for the 6.0’s to keep the casting sands from the block clogging up the oil cooler and it’s reliable as long as you don’t tune it
They should do 2017 diesel power challenge all stock off the lot trucks.
Pretty sure that's a head to head not a power challenge.
I really enjoyed watching Keeter competing... such a sport man and he don't seem to be overly cocky as most competitors... plus he's consistent.... #6.0
Last year competitors were in a whole different level... kind of disapointment this year.... is it Just me?
Were they Running 10 second passes in 4 door trucks
Yes it finally came out
lol ironic that the 6.0s had lasted the longest. Where are all the 6.0 haters now? Loved my 6.0. Worst mistake was selling it.
running these thing at high altitudes? you're starving those poor girls, also gg to the winner for proving that a (well built) powerstroke can hang with the best.
love these competitions. good builds
More like Diesel Survival Challenge
That black 6.7 superduty is a good looking truck
All of the trolls making comments on here about breakage this year obviously know nothing about built and modified diesel engines, or diesel trucks being raced in general.
And speaking of reliability, props to the powerjoker guys this year! The Fords are cleaning house!
The truck that won blows the least amount of smoke.... no way!
Marc Stollmeyer because diesels run most efficiently when they have no smoke since fuel to air is perfect. more fuel doesn't always mean more horsepower
love to see 6.0 on top!
i love the fact that the final two were both ford six liters!!
Yea it's sad. All the 10 second trucks broke down, so we are stuck with a guy placing with a 14 second fastest pass. About the only time reliability becomes a factor in heavy duty trucks.
With all that Diesel it's like racing Dinosaurs
As if Trucks would change to Gas Engines ever.
Diesels are a way better option for Vehicles that are required to work, Gas Engines are the option for Sports Vehicles at least in my opinion.
Diesel will easily outlive their Gas Competitor, get more Mileage on Heating Oil, Plant Oil or regular Diesel (cheaper fuels), are more reliable and have more torque where it matters 90% of the time.
Diesel also sound waaay nicer!
i used to love the way they sound (growing up in a country town) but now that diesel whine sound gets annoying)
Well, being German and all, Diesel Engines in Cars are as natural an option as Gas, with it being almost 50/50 in New Car Sales, Diesel outselling Gas almost 2:1 in some member states.
And in terms of KM per car per year, Diesels outdrive and outlive their Gasoline Counterparts around 2:1 as well.
The thing is that a new 1.6l VW Sportsvan TDI BlueMotion will run 190kph (110mph) all day long, with 5 People and luggage while staying below 10l/100km
I've driven late 80s Mercedes 190 Turbodiesels with 200kph for hours on end as well and it will consume barely 12l/100km.
I don't know of any new light (2.8-3.5+ton) Trucks that even have a Gasoline Option. I like Gas when it comes to Aircooled Motorcycles and Aircraft, but for Workhorses I would never recommend getting anything but a Diesel.
Edit, I lied, Diesels MASSIVELY outsale Gas Cars.
+MyFabian94 trucks will never be gas because deisel gives great torque, gas is good in smaller engines unless small diesel engines are improved.
Dinosaurs were also very common before they died out.
You could hear something knocking in the motor before she even took off.
Holy shit that blue ford is actually fast.
Keeter you’re my hero
I'm not a truck guy but the people calling these trucks peases of shit don't realize they don't just make off the shelf better parts diesels are still new to racing.
Do any of the contestants have all their teeth?
I'm surprised at how well the 6.0 powerstrokes have done in the past two years, considering how they're often made out to be absolute piles of junk.
Cameron Jenkins it just goes to show the 6.0 isn't a bad motor at all if you're willing to invest $4,000 to bulletproof it
No Nobeefstew. Or if u want to drop a ton of money and build the motor
No Nobeefstew. Wait! You have to spend all that money on a truck and spend $4,000 just so it isn't a piece of junk. You're a logical thinker.
No Nobeefstew. What I find funny is that the 6.4 is often thought to be much better than the 6.0 when they're fundamentally the same engine.
4? I just put 11 into mine, but it was basically rebuilt from the ground up. Small electrical fire, and a poorly informed insurance adjuster go together likes peas and carrots.
Reliability points needed.
dinosaurs would be proud to be used in such a brilliant manner.
love this competition
I only watch these to watch people break their trucks, and waste a lot of unburnt diesel through smoke
Everyone really stressed out their trucks and i found them all to be impressive.
I like when ppl say..(Well it's pretty much stock).. then they list all the upgrades 😂
they mean stock as in stock pistons usually and stock heads and block, the only thing they modify is the turbo and intake setup most of the time
Holy cow a 10 second 1/4 in a full size truck?! That is fast!
doesn't black smoke = inefficient burn(not enough oxygen)
L Taka it also means too rich. all these trucks are running rich for performance. diesels don't have the same AFRs as gas engines. instead of 12.7 they fluctuate between 15to1 all the way to 70to1. when you push the throttle on a diesel it doesn't open up a throttle blade, it injects more fuel in, most diesels have no throttle body.
TheSamplebridge does running an extremely rich mixture like 70 to 1 hamper performance? I'm aware that rich mixtures are preferable for reliable high boost setups, but are they missing out on potential power?
Thank you for the replies, diesels are pretty interesting.
Yep. Banks himself (king of diesel tuning) says that black smoke = bad tuner.
draggonhedd not realy. all diesels at some point will blow a little smoke. the ones bellowing alot are tuned for nitrous so when the hit the NOS the engine is already running rich and it evens out
I remember when Banean Woosley's truck made it in the 10s at over 130mph, that was crazy then. Charlie Keeter's truck is wicked fast, probably could done low 10s at 140mph had he not backed out (but he didn't need to since he blew Furgeson's doors off). Too bad for Kelsie Epp, I wanted to see her win but she was caught up in the war of attrition.
I feel like I could show up with like a 600 HP truck and sweep the competition as long as I keep it reliable enough to actually finish all the events.
knock knock .... who's there..... yer 6.0L bud
i think that keeter's truck looks better than everyone else's
That guy did great in the 6.0 he won the sled pull too
This is so brutal on the trucks.... but I love it.
I'm a Chevy guy at heart but goddamn the Cummins engine is a force to be reckoned with
YEAH FORD WINS
DOGE SUCKS
+drive man your twelve.
awesome guys
Volkswagen shows this to the EPA - 'See, what we did wasn't so bad'
Some of the best 1/4 I've seen keep it Roalin
Darius Boykin yea, nothing like 40 second 1/4 times
Nick D'Amico what are you even talking about... most i saw were running 11s
are u blind?11sec 1/4 mile
well i mean 10 second times with an 8 ton truck is pretty good to me
its not an 8 ton truck, they are 1 tons or 1.5 tons, and weigh around 8000lbs
Came to see how many trucks would break....not disappointed
3 ton trucks running 11s at the strip. I've seen everything now.
rollcoal big fan from Sweden :D
Wow some fast trucks !
Them trucks are beasts 👌🏻
Charlie keeters 6.0 is a beast
So what is the point behind giving points for "staging" which i assume is just getting to the start line, If you can have your crew push your truck there?
These trucks break down by just looking at them. what a pile of garbage
Jonny Oliveira
just like your mama
Try putting like 2500 Nm through your car / truck and I bet it would break a lot as well.
Jonny Oliveira a truck that has 3 times the torque and HP as stock isn't expected to be just as reliable. You modify the shit out of it, you gain performance and lose reliablity
Thats just stupid, if you mod the engine for so much power, then you mod the drive train to handle it... this series has been pathetic with how much damage has occurred....
man can't wait to get my 14 f350 done to enter this challenge
Are the heads o ringed? How are you keeping head gaskets on it
It makes me wonder, where did they find these guys. A bunch of people with tired old trucks. All of the previous years they had this competition, it seemed allot more interesting.
What's the point of holding this competition with such shitty air? They all know it's, they all know it's not helping the trucks and it's a competition to see what truck is built the best more or less. But they don't change the location, why?
consistency. plus as you saw the still can hook and boot at that altitude. the best built trucks work the best. simple.
im with you all they are doing is killing trucks.
I see where you're coming from but its also kinda the point, they want these trucks to have to face the most difficult conditions possible, and the truck that performs best in difficult conditions wins the contest
they used to have it at beech bend, don't know why they changed it
Spent all weekend at LS fest and everyone ran 1000's of runs, some as fast as 8's. Only saw 2 breaks all weekend. Same cant be said for these trucks. lol
what are some of them holding in their hand and what does it do?
runnint 10s at altitude. respect!!
ive been waiting
All FORD final, enough said!
too many broken trucks to make this an interesting event, hope they can fix them for the sleigh pull so we can watch a full field compete.
Are these engines on common rail injection? Pls someoene explain why they smoke that much.. Ty
People keep commenting on how "unreliable" these are. Well, you've forgotten that these are not stock street vehicles. They are putting out a lot more power than they were designed to handle. Of course they are going to break. Take a stock one of thsee and you probably won't have much trouble at all. A lot of these commercial trucks run over the road will operate for 1,000,000 miles.
Normally I wouldn't watch diesel races but its bandimere so :)
Where are the head 2 head and ignition episodes?
greg a's triple turbo once it's fixed next year should run this, he would utterly dominate
Where can I get one of those Diesel Power hats the competitors are wearing?
That was pretty cool. But the only thing that concerns me is how much they seem to break there trucks good gracious! But it is really cool to see diesel trucks make ten second passes down the strip that's crazy!
Maybe next year we will see Lavon Miller back, that way it will be exciting again. His Cummins beat 6 fords last year.
I was surprised how slow these things were. 10 second passes with 1000hp and a million pound feet?
...Moving 8000lbs and at altitude..
they're 3 ton and diesel if for towin not for racing
There set up for racing though Mr. JDMISMY LIFE
a stock truck would have done well in the competition, maybe even 3rd place
Zach Pye ik but still diesel is not meant for racing even if it have racing setup
Seems pretty good for the environment
I think they should take these trucks on Road America because that be more interesting than a straight line
drags are always the best. Love the destruction.
Love the car
first time two fords have been the finalists, im impressed.
Drag race with a bunch of broken trucks hmm
All these idiots saying that these trucks and people suck. Any high horsepower build will break. These trucks aren't built to do a quarter mile pass.
Maybe if they didn't try to run 10s in diesel pickups, they wouldn't break as much.
powerstrokes FTW!!
Would love to lock-up these drivers into an airtight space together with their engines running and no way to turn them off.
Aren’t you a mature and moral individual
Even from the dyno stage Kelseys Truck had a bad knocking sound when High throttle. Not a normal Diesel sound... No surprise her truck broke down.
Was that a nitrous button ?
6.0!!!!
These trucks are impressive but realistically you only need a 4 cylinder hilux
really depends on what you are using it for
Gzilladude Try towing a large boat with a 4-cylinder Hilux...try plowing snow during a blizzard in a 4-cylinder Hilux...you'll hate your life lol.
a 4cyl Hilux can't tow anymore than a regular half ton truck. These trucks pull 3 times their weight.
Gzilladude These truck can tow from 18000 pounds to 30 000 pounds.
Mickxal hes right they can tow the shit out some stuff. but for some reason everyone who owns a diesel wants to race them instead...rofl wtf.
never see these in the mud where there suppose to be...anyhow have fun trying to make your 8k brick go fast. stick to what these things are build and made for.....towing and hill/rock climbing 4x4 stuff.
early as fuck not the video the time it's like 7am
Oh look, a girl doing the drag race, that's cool, oh look, she lost and blew her truck up, that's not surprising
bet no one would believe keeters truck is a 9 second truck now a days
It's really sad that a lot of car guys will say "oh it doesn't matter what you drive respect everything" then go and rip on diesel trucks. So much for "respect"
These trucks just break all the time...lmao
when will drag racing purpose built work trucks die?
