Chainer with Gray Merchant on the field, nearly infinite mana and drawing four cards every turn... let's leave him alone, nothing could possibly go wrong, right?
Not like all he needs is a sac outlet or something.
Threat assessment was poor.
A fun (But janky) thing you can do with chainer is use solem sim, amulet of vigor, xia dun the one-eyed and bubbling muck to get every single basic from your deck and making them tap for insane amounts of mana. Or just use krr'k, Gary and chainer, + sac outlet to just win. :)

Jeff should’ve gained the Mana drain mana during his second main phase because it was cast during his pre combat main phase.
I always love seeing the Mistform deck in action.
I really don't understand why choose this legendary and not any other legendary wizard as comander 😂 please explain

For some reason it looks like a voltron kind of deck with control in it. But y, got no clue. Love the art tho, reason enough to play it :P. I still gotta SOMEHOW use my Arcanis the Omnipotent as a commander.
It is silly, and underused, which means a lot of players are caught off guard by it. Not to mention, you get the best of multiple tribal synergies, such as Azami wizard draw or Lord of Atlantis island walk, etc. It's far from "optimized" but the challenge of running something different and fun is what makes the deck shine.
I also built Mistform similar to Andrew. The main 2 tribes are Merfolk and Wizards so it isnt just straight up Wizard tribal. Additionally you get to run cards like Lord of the Unreal that gives Illusions Hexproof (aka Mistform). The deck can definitely win by combat damage or swinging out with unblockable Merfolk but the deck also has the Azami + Mind Over Matter + Thassa's Oracle combo for an instant win. It's just a fun deck where you get to manage odd synergies between tribes.

Huge missed oportunity by connor at 15:36 with Nullmage shepard. He should have targeted the caged sun tapping nullmage, deathspore, and 2 saprolings. then activated deathspore and sporesower to make 4 saprolings tapping all of them to destroy the immortal sun. Then sac 3 saprolings killing chainer, which would then cause Emile to sac all three creatures with krav so then krav and grey merchant dont both get put into exile due to chainers ability. Then next turn you can sac the other three saprolings if chainer is recast.
That chainer deck is so good, loved watching Emil claw his way back in.

Yes was my thought too, was wondering if he was holding it up til endstep but as soon as I saw the will I thought he'd use the relic.

OG Chainer represents. By far my own favourite commander to run.
Emil and Jeff were definitely a little higher power then the other two decks, but Emil also piloted his deck really well and maintained his control while being the archenemy throughout. I think the table adjusted well to the difference and made the game for balanced. Emil got hit with a lot of graveyard hate and kept fighting and grinding for the win. That's the beauty of commander and mono black!

I have a Slimefoot deck that has the sporesower thallid in it. That card actually is a tongue twister and I have trouble saying it as well sometimes. Also the music in this game was great!

On anvil, you don’t have to discard one of the cards you drew that turn from the anvil, just any card from your hand

There’s a few missed triggers here. Mana drain says “next main phase” which would’ve been the second main of that turn. Also the first Mistform hit should’ve triggered the sword as well
Also they missed a lot of Anvil triggers early on
Seems a power level mismatch between the mono-b deck and the other ones.

As noted a couple of times in the comments, the Mana Drain mana wouldn't have been available and that did kinda mess up the rest of the game since it would have still been a 4 player game, and a lot of it would have changed.

So Jeff had 4 counter spells in his hound during one whole round? (force of negation, counterspell, Glen Elendra Archmage/kinda counter,...and a mana drain. That is a bit much even with the amount of card draw in that game.
This makes me want to build a mono black deck

A hardfought win. He ate SEVERAL counterspells, and a LOT of gravehate. For a while couldn't even play the game. Nice to see the good karma at the end.
11:28 You find a 3 drop artifact, which is correct, but you said it wrong :P
As a CoB player, I NEVER cast the Citadel w/o having a way to get past the lands. It just gets destroyed or exiled.
relic of progenitus could have been activated to remove the vampiric tutor with no cost to Andrew.
the mana from Mana Drain was added in the wrong turn. It countered a Cryptic Command targetting something happening in main phase 1, so it shouldve been added in main phase 2 of that same turn. Living Death was a huge mistake considering theres a Relic of Progenitus out. Trophy Mage couldve found Pili Pala and gone infinite with grand architect?
Also the ezuri player missed one discsrd trigger of the anvil

at 12:16 Jeff shouldn't have gained mana from Mana Drain. He would have got it in his second main phase of his previous turn.

There were several missed anvil triggers/discards this game from the look of it.
Yeah I noticed that they missed those triggers as well, it's probably the case of it getting on the board and getting forgotten about

Why did he play living death with the relic out?
I don’t think it’s a bad play. If you’re only going to fill your yard more as the game goes on then trying to force the relic use early isn’t a bad idea. I think at that point in the game it was being used more as a board wipe than mass reanimation anyway.

Jeff shouldn't have gotten the mana from Mana Drain at 12:16 since he cast it during his own Pre-combat Main Phase, and Mana Drain just says it adds the mana "On your next Main Phase"; in this case his Post-Combat Main Phase. That is, unless he announced he was moving through combat to his Post-Combat Main Phase right away on his turn.
8:20 i don't get why would jeff proliferate connor's permanents
Either Jeff doesn't know that Fathom Mage draws for each counter (the turn after he discarded it would have been draw 5 from Ezuri's trigger) or was punting on purpose. One of the strongest card draws in the deck.

It bugs me a little that you announced Driven to Despair just as "Driven" in the starting hand. The flavour of the names is literally the best part about the aftermath cards.
To me it sounds as if you're implying you have to discard one of the cards drawn during draw step with the Anvil. Just to be clear, you can discard any card.
You're quite right. I think I was too laissez-faire with my narration on that part. I'll try and be more clear in the future.

Jeff's deck was definitely the most expensive based on the cards played.
Without being able to see a decklist from Ezuri its hard to judge how much of a gap there is between Emil and Jeff. Mistform seems a fair distance back and Thelon even more so from what we saw from them however.
Not really true at all. Each deck played a few money cards just out of what was shown in the video. Jeff clearly played the most expensive cards that game, but he didn't win. Conner had a Doubling Season and Andrew had a Cavern of Souls.

A goblin with Goblin Bombardment could gob as many goblins as you could gob.
I legitimately have no idea why you did not go for the win on Turn 7 with Mind over Matter.
The Dark deal cast by Emil turns prior meant it was not longer in his hand by turn 7.
Connor should have left the ballista alone Jeff was likely planning on taking out mist form by combat and Emil with the ballista that was in my opinion likely Connors best opportunity to win

As a Chainer player, I can say that practically all of my wins are based on falling behind in the early game and then waiting until my opponents are too focused on each other to notice me assembling a Gary combo. It almost felt like I was the one playing!
