A well configured Waydroid for ARM Android emulation with Steam selling Android games such as PvZ 2 and others will make Linux gaming better than any other platform, and the Steam Deck the best console (it is already the best console in handheld format).
PS: I think that an official, or licensed, Steam Controller 2 with pads must be built. Why don't you and other Deck / Linux CZcamsrs launch a kickstarter campaign to see what would be the interest in such a device?.
Ps2: Mouse cursor size with proton and wayland (at 4k x3) is very small and cannot be changed, also Steam client need to go to Big Screen and back to take the configuration (4k without x3 until that is done), reported long ago, but it seems it is low priority.

My best guess for Android compatibility is to make it easier for developers to port their Quest games/apps to SteamVR. The unfortunate reality right now is that the VR market is very fractured, and valve could greatly improve things for PCVR users with a proton-like compatibility layer.

Supporting android apps adds as you said plenty new software options. Personally I am fan of flatpaks which are supported on steam deck, but being objective the way flatpaks manage permissions is confusing for non technical people.

Quest Games is why Deckard would have some kind of Android support since the Quest is running a specialized version of Android. It being supported on the Steam Deck itself is kind of worthless since you know its a full blown Linux PC, but for Deckard the VR headset having some kind of Quest game support even if they would have to be side loaded as well as PC gaming via Proton Compatibility would be a legit game changer for the VR Space

Well, just a forewarning for anyone planning on getting the KH collection, aside from KH3, mostly all the games are bugged to hell and back for anyone using 10 or 20 series GeForce, Polaris or RDNA3 Radeon, possibly even Arc gpus for strange reasons, possibly due to them trying to address fixes for 30 and 40 series, while optimizing for the Steam Deck. This is of course on the Windows side for now, but I don't know what the Linux side will look like for anyone not on 30, 40, or 6k series gpus at this time in terms of stability for the games.
Hopefully Square is able to rush to fix everything, but for now, I think only Steam Deck owners and some select gpu series users will be spared of the crap the rest of us (including a 7k series owner like myself) have to deal with as far as KH 1 through DDD goes.
