    • @tommydashed4205
      @tommydashed4205 Před 2 lety +7

It gains income not money. I think the distinction is important. Early on the income from mules is critical. However, it doesn't just give you instant money and it is still mining minerals from the map so you can't just drop mules and gain extra money. The mule is also very well balanced because without it Terran would just lose hard in anything but TvT. Even with the mule Terran is worse off economically than the other two races with more OP macro mechanics like injects or larva in general and chrono boost. That's why almost every Terran build is centered around harass into an early timing. They have to do damage early in both matchups. If the mule was OP that would not be the case at all.

      @jiayojames Před 2 lety +1

Watch it again. It was not a high level split, it was an impossible simultaneous split that would require three cursors to do manually. Terran is a hard race to be good at at diamond to low GM. You will most likely lack some neccessary skills to keep up with the raw strengh of Protoss and the eco of Zerg. This can be either lack of control, multitasking or the ability to play error free over several games. Terran needs to be the agressor vs Zerg which I think is his main complaint here. On even footing Terran is just vastly outmacroed by Zerg (and to a certain degree that is correct vs Protoss as well).
Once you look at the very top of players Terran does catch up with it's inherent ability to generate a lot of value by multi tasking and very very diverse openers. I think this is also the reason why there is a substantially lower number of Terrans out there in GM: You feel like you have to do a lot more things right than your opponent (because Terran HAS the tools to do it, but it is hard to unlock it for most players). From a "pro gaming" balancing perspective this is fine, for the average player it is not though.

Just played *three* low-diamond PvTs in a row that were just like this.
I knew I'd won like 10 minutes in but the terran turtled for another 15-20 minutes while. Last game was 30 minutes.
What is it about T players that makes it so hard for them to know when the game is over?

14:59 -> Harstem, I'm usually impressed by how accurate and truthful your metaphors are ; just once, I felt like doing it from another perspective. 100-meter dash, you said ? Here's how it'd go :
    BRONZE :
    * has signed up to compete and shows up... but in the stands as a spectator
    * comments on everything the runners do, while saying out loud that he could do it too if he wanted to and if it wasn't for his age / bad knee / headache / racism / etc random excuse ; if challenged, he'll kindly remind you that he knows better, since he's been around for 6 years, as opposed to the noob which you probably are, since you're sitting there doing nothing neither
    * will leave disappointed, stating that he has watched better, saying out loud yet again, that he may join the next race "at a physical level of engagement" (sic) to show them how it's done
    SILVER :
    * quite anxious but gained the spectators' respect already for trying
    * the misunderstanding that he might be a mascot substitute has been lifted by the referee ; he's escorted back safely to his former position with his headgear and pads back in place
    * starts running in the opposite direction, taking some breaks just standing there every now and then to check how far he has gone, but eventually finishes the race before nightfall
    * confused about why the remaining part of the crowd who hasn't left is laughing, since he hasn't fallen down this time
    * today only the result shall matter ; the method(s) will be improved with experience
    * watches the replay of the race without commentary once back home and concludes that the gear's optional...
    GOLD :
    * overwhelmed but hell bent on starting to play 'by the book' ; not really his choice, his knife has been confiscated ; luckily, he still has his cigs to help him calm down...
    * ... sadly, tackling / sweeping / pushing aside the guys next to him still sounds like the ideal decision when the pistol goes
    * while being totally outdistanced by several better runners, he'll start yelling insults at them louder and louder
    * not being the last won't do ; he's been cheated after all, without taking to be forced to wear orange into account ! he HATES orange ! complains to the referee and asks him to investigate the background of the runners, whom the names appear on the list which he made a few seconds ago
    PLATINUM :
    * anxious, he sizes up everyone around ; as long as he got a fair shot, it should be fine
    * drinks a large soda before the race ; it can only help, right, mostly if adding a burger and some fries to it ? right ?
    * recognizes someone famous that he saw on the internet, somewhere... wherever... whatever ; false alarm, but it allowed him to trade spots with some unknown schmuck for a better one featuring his lucky number
    * not the result he hoped for but that's it ; he sucks but doesn't suck the most, so life's good ; maybe if he does 'this' instead next time ? or 'that' ? or 'both' ? or raises a compaign to lower the difficulty by complaining to the media that better runners shouldn't be that good ? nevermind, he's queuing for another race before understanding exactly why he has underperformed in the previous one ; he can only be LUCKIER this time... RIGHT ?
    DIAMOND :
    * has trained hard for a long time ; his efforts can't afford not paying off
    * has mastered the way of managing a healthy life while making others' hell ; hangs around the starting line while remaining half-focused half-evil
    * today he WILL finally defeat these %)#}$& preventing him from getting the next shiny medal, that he wants to show off
    * projects every possible scenario ; goes as far as analyzing the wind speed to gauge a maximum of factors
    * first time in an indoor stadium, though... wait, how was he supposed to practice for this, you effin' incompetent organizers ? will write both a message on the official forum and a letter to management later on, to threaten that he'll be forever done and actively advertise them badly if the events won't be run more professionally by giving the contestants all the tools they need to do better (starting by a 'wind speed gauge assist tool', free of charge)
    MASTER :
    * gets in the 'winner' mindset by listening to his selfmade 'Drive of a Champion' music playlist ; no time to joke around, the 'jokes' are sitting on the bench and in the stands
    * has a clue of the level of his better contestants ; has analyzed their complete running history, their records, their strategies / forces / weaknesses and will capitalize on those
    * stares at the grandmasters in the hope of getting something in return : an advice or useful trick to balance the playfield, a head nod, some other form of acknowledgement... ANYTHING BUT A SMIRK
    * ignores the lower rank peasants trying to befriend him ; his time is valuable and ony the chosen ones shall earn it
    * has pretended that it's his birthday, so he could negociate his anthem to be played loudly in the speakers ; the song's an undercover obnoxious demotivation speech, that will subconsciously make all the other contenders lose confidence in themselves ; yeah don't ask, winning's not for the weak-minded
    GRANDMASTER :
    * not the tallest, not the most muscular, not the most pretentious ; beware still, there's a reason why he's at the level where he is...
    * confident enough, that he's done everything he could to be ready by now ; won't stress over nothing without a worthy reason to do so
    * too polite and mannered to be real but will switch to 'Kill Mode' as soon as the race officially starts
    * 100 contestants have joined but he'll be engaged in a battle of epic proportions with only the few other beasts who were hiding among them on the last 10 meters
    * congratulates everyone for participating while raising the trophy ; thanks all the staff who made it possible ; invites those willing to drink a beer and end the day on an even better note

I would say the easiest fix for him in this game would actually be just to add in marauders. Enemy had ultras and alot of banes and I never saw one single marauder in front of the rhines. Especially if you cant micro and split, cheap solution is just to throw some marauders out front. they even slow the lings and banes and shred the ultras. Fastest way to make a zerg go broke is let him throw away banes on marauders. At 22:00 he finally throws in 3-4 marauders then has them behind his rhines. Definitely one of those players who suffers more from micro than if they did nothing at all and just macroed harder to make more units.
