Most pros give the tip to "keep it simple". This man pushed it to the extreme.
No one would suggest making mass oracles as the follow up imo. The fact that “make spire” wasn’t his first reaction to seeing the great walk of stargates kinda boggles the mind.
I think Harstem's brain has finally been broken by IODIS submissions. Shame on the protoss player for bm, but props to the zerg player for the gg at the end.
This is the angriest I've seen him get. I think seeing noob replays is taking its toll.

I’m surprised he wasn’t more angry, the plays are absolutely astonishing. It’s not even like a practice issue, the zerg was making active decisions and using his APM to hard sandbag the game. I think hard AI would have played better tbh

I would laugh at this if i hadnt lost to this exact "strategy" aswell. Now i just feel more humiliated, triggering those suppressed memories. I cant believe I lost to this shit.
It's highly likely the protoss was smurfing, considering the stupidity of the build and the BM. Don't ever feel bad about losing to someone so pathetic that they spend their free time beating up people weaker than them because they're too afraid of losing.
We all lost to shit like this from time to time. The replay clearly shows that just having good fundamentals is enough to beat the crap out of this stupid ass strategy, like scouting and droning up. He should have absolutely ripped his face off just by doing ling runbys and droning up at the same time, which is duable even for plat, much more so in diamond.

I’ve never seen a zerg figure out exactly what to do wrong at every turn. It’s insane. Harstem is being very merciful with his criticism here lol.
There are several points in this game where if he a clicked and disconnected from the game, the AI would have performed better than him
So I suspect that he was really anxious and the adrenaline was not being beneficial. Sometimes anxiety just makes me shake and god damn does my brain stop working, always takes me a couple of games till it wears off.
Loozerg is actually a really good name I think
having a hard time believing this game isn't staged, or that the toss isn't just trolling.
My thought when seeing this was protoss was just trying to meme.
I have done stupid crap like this in lower leagues as zerg. Build nothing but drones spines and spores and mass expand with defenses everywhere. Players will more often than not focus to hard on killing one base while I take like 3 more. It's honestly a stupid gameplan and relies on the multitasking and macro of the opponent to be bad for it to work, but I assure you it does.

@@BanAaron Not saying you are wrong, only want to add this as one last thing. You would be surprised how often when someone encounters something new like a weird rush or massing a non meta unit or something they perceive as stupid, then their whole gamelan is suddenly forgotten and they just start trying to freestyle a build in their overconfidence or confusion. The usually correct answer would be stay calm and follow your build order/macro up. In the heat of the moment though people will make mistakes.

@@MultiChrisjb I think some people lack the self-awareness to be embarrassed, but in this case, I really think it was a lack of checking the replay before sending it in.

I think he assumed the forge was going to be a cannon rush and it didn't come out because the protos got scared by the 6 zerglings or whatever.

I especially like how he is making fun of you for getting 1440 instead of 1450 ressources while he counts 9 drones losses (450 ressources) against 1 oracle (300 ressources) a -150 ressources for the protoss (at 14:26).
until the drones are re-made, how much ressources not being collected is that?
The time you marked at 14:26 doesn't show what you mention. And 2nd... do you understand the idea of killing drones to halt production? So the zerg lost far more than 450.

And yes, I understand this concept, I just did not take it into accounts since nobody did and that was not the point (and if you think this far, you may also take into accounts Lost mining Time and the cost of thé units thé protoss has to produce to replace thé oracle but that doesn't really mean anything). I was just saying that while he made fun of Harstem for a 10 ressource he got a sign wrong, making it a 300 ressource difference, which was ironic

I would be very skeptical of the *fake reverse IODIS* submissions in this type of scenario. Hopefully you guys are doing your due diligence to verify all the submissions before they make it onto the show.

I am a student of the great Wasif Khan and I realize well the importance of the psychological edge. Always say things to make one's opponent angry and tilted.
I feel like this belongs more on an episode of "bronze league heros" than "IIODIS". nothing at all about this game indicates silver, much less diamond on any server. as a zerg, if you have only 39 workers by 6-7 minutes: you are ALL-IN whether or not you realize it. You should sneak this replay into the next season of ranked roulette, because once it gets all clipped up and the names anonymized, I don't think anyone on the show could guess the league correctly. good on loozerg though for gging despite the BM though.
I strongly recommend Loozerg watch some sc2 tutorials. Not the official blizzard ones, but the higher quality pro player made tutorials. I think you have one Harstem. Me, I watched PiG's video and can now easily beat harder ai 1v1. I tried very hard and got stomped, because I am still making mistakes like failing to inject, expand, get more gas, fully saturate my first two bases (ironically I more often fully saturate my second base while leaving one gas unused in my main lol) and neglecting to continue getting upgrades. Mind you I don't get punished vs the harder ai for these mistakes, but the very hard ai certainly does.
My goal isn't to rank on the ladder though, it's to kick my friends' asses lol and boy am I going to, very soon (this week).

There was a PvT where this came up also, tank was walled in and the stalkers took the longest route possible to get hit by the tank instead of just walking next to the factory and sniping it in two volleys

The Zerg player is because not enough Protoss at lower elo ever build a forge so ling runbys do far more damage than they should, Its very common to see Zerg players with less than a week experiance in masters. Every pro agrees that getting Zerg into GM is much faster than the other two races. As for the Protoss he was doing the build 120 drones before you build any units challenge.
The protoss was probably a smurf, the zerg, idk. He must've gone off his game plan and panicked

3950MMR is Diamond 2 on EU... Harstem was off. Its a long way from top Diamond considering the massive skill difference over the whole league.

you missed the entire point of his advice which was path routing. he couldve kept 4 instead of 3 which is 25% extra killed

guys, i dont know. this toss seems to be some kind of smurf type situation. feels pretty bad to me to outplay your opponent so hard and then bming the opponent. takes a special kind of human being to do this crap. i plead for misstrial.
I bet zerg didn't actually scouted stargates. He just run his zerlings into cannons while looking at somesing else, and didn't knew, what this buildings was. That's why his spores are so late.
It only took Harstem 19 and a half minutes to find something more interesting than this replay.

Hello there, dear everyone, im the one who did send this replay. I see a lot of comments here about my playstyle, so I want to explain what was going on in my mind:
1. First of all, im not a Serral, and im not able to destroy 200 limit of carrier+archon/storm (i can have any upgrades and any army composition and i will lose to A-click/A-click+storm)
2. If i let toss to expand like a madman left and right - he will eventually get 200 limit of carrier+archon/storm for sure (and then see point one)
3. If i build drones then im not able to build lings that early (and then see point two) (actually you dont rly need lot of drones to make ling army)
Thats why this game looks like this, i still feel like i went for best strategy to counter opponent strategy, surely did mess up some micro, but why nobody cares about toss micro (not found)?
Harstem unfortunately missed a couple of my big attacks on opponent bases, which you can see on the mini map (so in my view i was actually ahead, cause wasnt aware of bottom base, and did see how i did kill pretty much every probe, also protoss didnt even knew about my 4th base, and i had some of drones there, so thats a reason why i didnt leave a game when had like 9 drones (some of you said that i did bm toss cause of no leaving)
Roach warren obviously wasnt brilliant decision, but i felt like lings wasnt trade good enough against buildings, and i had bunch of vespen, so i thought some ravagers would be usefull to break defence with biles.
I did transfer drones from main to natural when oracles come cause if you watch closely, those oracles did kill queen+spore in 3rd base in the blink of an eye right before, so 1 spore isnt enough to stop them, but at natural base i had queen and 2 additional spores in production
I surely did mess up some stuff in this game, but i feel like if i will face this guy with same strat again, i will lose again, cause even after Harstem review i dont rly understand what should i do. Like i can trade banelings better, i can build spore in-time, but protoss also able to press atleast battery overcharge once or split probes against banelings at least once, or micro his oracles better and then im dead anyways.
Anyhow it was a hilarious game to watch (but not to play). Big appreciation to Harstem for reviewing it, peace
As to what to improve on: take 2 lings and shift click every base location to scout?
If you had done that, you would have found and could have taken out all of his super undefended bases with ease.
Oh, ans spend the larva. You could have produced workers without sacrificing lings...you had unused larva all the time ;)

@@genericnameinc When toss did build hidden base i was going into his base with 6 start lings, so i didnt had any free lings at that point, and even when i did shift click every base it dont show me every base cause ling comes into closest cannon and dies.
Anyhow, he did build it at 3:10 and i did scout it at 7:10 and i did destroy it at 10 minute mark, so why do you think its scout problem, it surely not, toss base is just op, it defends wave after wave cause toss player did outplay me and did build 2 cannons pog.
Bottom base is kind of joke cuz i had so much lings going through this base and they didnt scout it
And now for larva, both times when Harstem said about larva i did spend all my resources right after it, even Serral can have 13 larva sometimes in a game, its fine. And i didnt build workers not cause of larva issue, but minerals, i did aggressive push at low worker count, like imagine to do 12 pool and then build 2 lings and go for drones, thats what you advicing. If i didnt build any of those lings i wont be able to stop this 10:30 o'clock base even at 10 minute mark.
Thats ridic to me that lot of ppl actually think its not op to counter early aggression like ling bane flood with +1 attack by placing more nexuses(which i can see, you wont find any moment when i dont attack my opponent buildings for some time, i know about them, but i cant destroy them/or it takes too much time), most of you are probably protoss

I remember back when SC2 was new, I was in Diamond (at the time highest league) and now to see that THIS is diamond...yikes.
I wonder how well he'd have done if, well, he would've, you know, started aggressively expanding to random locations/even his opponents bases the moment he begun winning...
You know. It seems to work well for the opponent... :D I mean, ofc normally you'd expand anyway... but if you aint gonna scout them trough the entire game, likely your opponent of similar mmr isn't going to scout you in return, right?
I mean, zerg is way better at aggressively expanding than protoss, so he would've covered the map first!
He scouted at 2 mins with the Ovi... and the ling run-in soon after. That should've told him exactly where he was in the game and that he had time to play normal & drone up. The problem is even before that he was floating huge money, so yeah maybe not safe lol. Games without builds are so random.

Making larva is easy because it doesn't require any decisions. Making drones is hard because it's scary to commit to something.
