Cool video.... Also, I love all the 3D printed stuff, and the pick stands in the back of the desk, displaying all those awesome picks you have!
Yep, this is something I also started to realize as I started to gather locks from different manufacturers. That staircase key biting (high cut on #5, #4 and low ones from #3 to #1) is significantly easier to pick compared to case where you have very low cut #6 and #5 pins. Your video also demonstrates how easy it is to accidentally set pins in the front that you initially did not intent to set.
I'm amazed though that this works with a purple belt level lock. I've got a ML 140 (yellow) and even a ML 570 (orange) that open much like this (silly linear ML bitting!) but Purple belt level? On a Danish Lock? That's a surprise. Life is good when you let your shank do most of the work ...wait, can I rephrase that?
Great video! Can you make a video about your easiest and hardest locks in your collection? I'd love to see what other properties make a lock easier or harder to pick.
I would be absolutely embarrassed if I admitted to my most difficult locks lol. Also, I plan on competing this year in picking competitions so I dont want to show my hand on what I'm great and terrible at, my competition watches my videos too!
@@sandman_locksportwell, let's meet halfway then. How about you show us your easiest locks that you have in your arsenal? Let's say your most disappointing ones that are deemed scary by the online community, but you can pick yours just by "looking" at them.
Nice lock! I’ll have to pick one up sometime. Thanks for sharing.
Well done! 🐾🐈🐈⬛🐾👏👏
Thanks Chris!
Nice! This I the first pic I watched on a fuller screen. Forgot I had an iPad, and not just my phone. Lol.
Oh hey, watching this paid some small dividends already. Went back to figuring out how to rake a master lock 150 that’s giving me fit with high in the back pins. I’ve gotten into it a few times since rethinking the approach, and th technique helped me bust a couple other ones. Thanks!
I accidentally discovered this trick while picking a sparrow's practice lock. One of the core trainer keys is staircase pinned and you can just insert a pick at an angle and turn and it will open without even using a tension wrench.
Thats a really cool and fast trickbfor a purple belt lock 🔐 💜 im gonna try that if i am able 🎉
Great video brother
If you pick it you pick it lol😂. Good job
Nice job.
Hey sandman ❤does this trick only work when we have that lucky bidding "staircase" pinning ?
Correct
@@sandman_locksport ok cool 🆒️ 😎
Don't you mean counterbored? @ 10:55
possibly, we call it countermilling, but you are probably more correct on the terminology.
@@sandman_locksport I see, the term you're using for locksmithing is correct and for machinist it's counterbore. I had lots of machines doing wood working and metal machining. Thanks Sandman!
You're a Real cheater 😆 nice pick i love you're videos. Keep going
🎉🎉lozlz 😢
Prime example of bad bitting ruining an excellent lock, turning the right shaped pick into almost a key. Wonder if its worse or better than complete flat bitting?
