- Cammy understands everything around her but is not yet able to walk or talk.
She is self-conscious of her assistive communication device but agreed to use it for half of our interview. This resulted in a beautiful moment which truly captures the depth of Cammy's intelligence.

We’re teaching our 2 year old, who is nonverbal, how to communicate consent so I just want to say my love and respect for Chris, Cammy and her family is so high right now, to not only have taught but also to have her decision respected. It’s so so so important. I hope in the future she can feel comfortable enough to want to try again as I am curious to hear more about her and from her!
My client has Rett syndrome and she is 55yrs old. She can’t not talk but does understand SOME things I say, she can still walk but with a gait belt for my stand by assistance. She is a whole mystery, I never know what mood she will be in from day to day. Some days she will smile all day, some days she will be aggressive and violent, and some days she sits and cries. I have grown to understand cues that she’s gives. I’ve been her caregiver for a year now and I must say she has taught me patience and to be more vigilant.
Some days I don’t know how I do it lol. But I know God put me with her for a reason. I
God is an imaginary friend deal with it

@@blairariavanderkamp3405 She comes from a family of doctors so of course she’s always had the best of the best treating her. I no longer work with her but I pray she has a loving caregiver with her.

RIP Cammy 😢- been following Cammy’s story for years ever since I watched this video and just loved how upbeat and happy she looked despite her battles, her family seemed like incredible people who have Cam everyone she ever wanted and in return Cam did the same for them, was sad learning the news today but I remembered this amazing video and came back to it to watch another time, my thoughts to all of Cammy’s family and friends ❤️

@@ElectroSwingingIt I learned when someone from my school told me Ryan (cam’s sis) goes to the same school as me so that’s how I found out

I just have no words for her she's just really cute those giggles and I can't get over that
I actually really liked this. I sort of just wish we'd had one more time on the couch where the conversation is a topic she likes so we can see some interaction that is positive at the end.
I once knew a girl who usually looked with one eye at everything, but whenever I began quoting that Lion from "The Wizard of Oz" she'd throw her head back and laugh and laugh and laugh. Afterwards, she'd look at me with both eyes and smile away.
This was an adult teenager, who if she lost her lamb would be inconsolable.
But someone who had the same voice as her mother (who had passed away) would talk with her accent and immediately the girl would open both eyes and look at her. I hope she had or is having a nice life.
I hope even better for this child.

What a sweet and brave girl. I would be nervous too! It’s always ok to say what you like or don’t like. We are all human with different emotions doing our best to communicate with each other. You did a great job Cammy!

Loving the Blackhawks jersey Cammy.. I am so impressed by the different ways we can communicate these days. I’m majoring in special education and one of my biggest interests is learning and teaching new ways to communicate with non verbal individuals. I see Cammy and I’m so excited to work with kids like her. She’s awesome.
Thanks for sharing your story, my daughter has Autism, it was thought Rett was seen but no, to keep an eye on.

Well everyone has health issues or disabilities just about I have bad ears mild autism a learning disability and I have mild asthma so do have to occasionally us inhaler not often but I do plus all right wrist hurt sometimes cuz I broke it when I was 23 and plus I'm starting to have back issues and I'm always in my thirties so there's something wrong with everyone plus I have real bad anxiety and I'm actually having to take medicine for it
