Ive always loved Rita Hayworth -- did a drawing of her in AP art class. I never knew she was Romani! Thank you for teaching me this :). And it was her spirit I admired too... Know I know where that came from. ❤
So sad what happened to her throughout her life
What happened
@@tianoninanana karine alourde has some great stuff about it
Oh thank you! Didn't know she was Romani! ❤
She wasn' t romaní. Her farther was spanish.
@@Belial262 He was a bailaor from Andalusia... and he did look quite Gypsy, phenotypically. Andalusia is known for having Spain's largest Roma community, it's been that way for almost as long as the Gypsies have been in Spain (since around the 15th century)... and Flamenco, while having influences from White Christian Spaniards, Muslims and Jews, is still a pretty Gypsy thing.
@@smllinaress vamos a ver qué soy española.
Y no pasa solo ahora, antes tampoco.
She was so beautiful
Her dancing is hypnotic 😍
She was my father's favorite actress.
Yep. They dyed her hair red and wax like 2 cm of her hair line
Fred Astaire said that Rita was the most natural and dedicated dancer he worked with. Didn't complain, caught in to the steps right away.
Incredible talent!
She is so beautiful 😍😍
such a beautiful dancer
What a beautiful woman she was.
Had no idea! I always loved watching her movies with my mom when I was little.
She looks so happy ❤
Yes, she danced flamenco but a lot of people here in Spain dance flamenco too, not meaning you have to be gitano or romani (same thing). As far as I know, living in the place where Margarita was born, she's not a gitana nor her surname is, nor her facial features look like she is and I highly doubt a romani family mixes its blood with a non romani family. It's highly punished and even more at her times. My parents and grandparents talked to me about her when I was little and not so little and none of them have or had the knowledge that she was romani.
P.D.: I'm not trying to be offensive. I'm just trying to stop fake information that you see people spread lot in tiktok or yt shorts. Also, to the creator of this video, please look up reliable info about this woman and not what you want to believe is true because is what's the most convenient to you. Also sorry if there's any typos I'm not a native English speaker.
But look how she looked before her makeover
@@thebuddyholly yes, I know but still she wasn't romani she just wore traditional southern Spanish clothes (traje de flamenca) and ofc Hollywood made her change her hair color and shave her hairline to look "prettier" for the beauty standards at the moment.
Thank you for explaining The Secret Sauce of what made Rita Hayworth So Very Extraordinary.
Seeing Her Fully able to express Her Passion for Her Romani Roots brought me to tears & reminded me how Critical it is to be Fully able to Express Your Mind, Body & SOUL. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
She was just gorgeous 😍
She is such a beauty, I could just sit & watch her dance for hours. 🙏💓
It's too bad that she was treated like dog 💩by the people around her in her life. She was such a talented and amazing woman.
Yk the going round is so similar to a dance step in garba (gujrati dance)
You have sharp eyes!!! Roma and Sinti's origin is in India/Nepal/Pakistan. Sinti = river Sind. Language still has words in the old Sanskrit. As far as I know a still used Sintiword in English/American is Pal from phrall = friend/brother.
By the way I didnt recognize anything in the british and american reality tv-shows of roma. And I did travel until my daughters became teenagers, no I didnt got married at 14, I was 20. Yes I went to school, but we do have our own "written" language. No women are not less values then a man. We allways have had a male and a female leader of every tribe. We do have our own "police" and court, in which everybody can have his/her say. So its absolutely not as in the " reality"shows.
@@nellisart462 omg are you a roma i have never talked to a roma before and ya ik what ever they show in the reality show there is a subtle messaging to show how backward and terrible roma people are to legitimise their persecution in west and also to support their aryan invasion theory which they created out of thin air without studying the linguistics archaeology and gene pool of india properly anyways i am really keen to know more about your culture I am an Indian ❤
@@BlahBlahBlah-gt8yn I am also a participator in current society. Half in/half out. Women, in general, are expected to go to school. I have worked as an ass clinical research and medical coördinator in academic hospitals. The problem I am dealing with is, that you cant integrate your ethnic background in western society. The moment you do, you are accused of stealing items and subject of derogatory and/or sexually tinted remarks. You smile at them with death in your eyes. It teaches you to never speak about your ethnicity.
@@BlahBlahBlah-gt8ynI am also Roma cale Roma from Spain but migrated to Mexico on my moms side it’s hard to talk abt the culture because like Rita we had to hide our culture that’s why my mama yina had to move from Spain to Mexico because they would call her a “gitana bruja” a gypsy witch for palm reading and doing tarot to make a living it’s really rough there because payos are so awful racist and hurtful to Roma in Mexico it’s so much more accepted and welcoming the effects are still very real here though even I still experience them so I don’t blame my mom for being hesitant on being expressive it comes at a cost unfortunately ☹️
The auburn hair looks gorgeous with her lilac and green dresses wow
Her dancing is simply beautiful
People should be proud of their heritage, especially when growing up in a Western/mostly white country! It's always beautiful to see people connecting with their culture ❤
She would have been perfect as Esmeralda
Agreed. Her and Shakira are my top 2 choices to play a live action Esmeralda

"Cansino," which means something quite different to "cansado."

Romani dancing is so cool! I love the purple dress btw.
As far as I know, my lastname, Páez, is a patronimic name that came from "Payo". I didn't know that Payo meant non Romani, google translates it as "dumb", "brute"... 😡

She wasn't Romani, just Castellana ( native Spanish ) roots
She wasn't romani. The dance that she performed is called Flamenco, from Spain. She has Spanish and Irish heritage....
Flamenco evolved in Spain via the Romani performers who brought dances with them.
Her dancing 🤩

This reminds me of so many dances in India😂like a mix of steps from many forms
The Romani people are originally from north India, and migrated into Europe
Fun Fact: Rita Hayworth's hairstyle became an inspiration for Bryke's character, Asami Sato, in the Legend of Korra series.

Look up their crime rate stats and see how the average romani lives and behaves.
Also, look up how many of them are iliterate. How it will clarify it for you.
