When you use the term âunderperformâ, it means that you are playing below your usual standards. But the fact is that MU today is not of that standard anymore, and has been so for many seasons. I understand that when a team is underperforming that ultimately the manager is the one to blame. But to be honest/fair, Manchester United has been underperforming for several managers now. You can't fully blame Erik for Manchester's misery. People will say: "Well, he bought certain players for 100 + million, he should know the quality of these players". Partially true. I know Anthony is definitely not worth 100 million, but he was playing amazingly at Ajax. Sometimes players click well with certain teams, sometimes they don't. It's always a gamble. But certain key players that have been with United for a long time should've stood up and back their manager(s). Again, I'm not a fan boy of Erik, but this teams crisis is not fully on him. Maybe they should go back to the old ways. If you underperform and not give it your all, take away their income for the game.
