  • This is a unique RETRO PINBALL FLIPPER GAME
    This awesome console was made in 1980's in HONG KONG.
    I bought it from Leboncoin, in France for 30 Euro
    The game was broken yellowed and dirty.
    Took me one week to restore it.
    I utilized the Retrobright Technique to bring back the original color of the game.
    This is an electronique Pinball Fliper and two players can play this cool game.
    I hope you like my work!

      I thought it was silly to place batteries into a device with corroded terminals, but this did give a baseline level of functionality before the restoration. I think he knew that there was very little chance that it would not work once the terminals were cleaned and the wires were soldered back on. He may have tested the device with a 6V power supply before making the video just to be sure.

      @@andie_pants They're most likely UVA or UVB lights, which is enough to generate the chemical reaction needed for retrobrighting. Stronger UVC LEDs are super expensive and super dangerous as they can quickly damage human tissues.

      @@andie_pants They are probably more like black light LEDs. UVC LEDs look really ice blue and are prohibitively expensive. I don't think I've ever seen them come in strips. You wouldn't want to stare at them for too long either unless you had a desire not to see anymore.

    Just a little soldering tip: use a finer point soldering iron and before soldering remove any extra/old tin and ad new tin for a better result and stronger soldering and don’t put the tin on the iron itself just at a bit when you head up the cable but for the rest well done

  • @dablakh0l193
    @dablakh0l193 Před 4 lety +5

    Two things. First, be careful putting elastomeric contacts in water. These are the black areas on the bottom of the rubber push button switches in this project. Sometimes they are a coating, sometimes a carbon puck, but either way some of the older ones used a water soluble adhesive and putting them in water will make them dissolve.
    Secondly, using UV leds around a plastic container decreases their effectiveness by at least 50%. The plastic material diffuses the light and depending on the type of plastic, some of them have a UV inhibitor in them so that they don't break down as fast in sunlight. A large, clear glass container is a much better option for a retrobright tank.

    To have your screwdriver shaft temporarily magnetized you might want to consider using a small magnet such as the ones found in mechanical hard drives. Those come in a flat, slightly curved shape and are quite powerful compared to their size. I often use one or two of those stuck to the screwdriver shaft (as near as possible to the tip) when I need to "fish" screws in deep recesses, just as you did, or just keep hold them when screwing/unscrewing.
