Hey my favorite game is the king of fighters XII
You didn't put back the "charger" and left a hole on top..........
I did
We didn’t have PlayStation PS1! This is a galaxy space invader!
I love you
Usually old school solid state tech is pretty durable, I still have a working Atari 2600 from Christmas when I was 14. I'm 49 now so that's more reliable than my back.
@ I had a 1040STE years ago, it was an awesome system. I wish I could get another one.
I have a PS1 my mum or dad owned, thing still goes in 2020 (it isn’t as old as the Atari you own but it’s 20-25 years old)
My brothers 2600 stop working in the 90s for me, still have it and haven't tried since!
I have a atari gameng thing and it was on sale in Walmart for 5$
my atari 2600 died suddenly after a few weeks I got a famicom :´c

Late reply. This person's commenting the exact same thing because they saw how many likes the last one got and thought, "i want that", not realising this isnt reddit and noone cares.
Imagine having a dad like this...you don’t even have to buy toys
But
1. You could run out of hot water which *alot* of dads make coffee to drink before having work
2. It would take *alot* of time to restore sometimes hours or even days

That magnetizer/demagnetizer is a goddamn revelation for me! The object I always needed but never knew I did until I saw it. THANK YOU for that as well as the entertaining fixup video, which is something I am starting to get into in a big way. Subbed for sure!
Odd Tinkering would be proud of you!
Niels Peyronnel yes!!! The same. But why?
i hope so 😬
Niels Peyronnel YES! I watch his channel too! ❤️😃
A nice channel too
That is literally what I thought I clicked on. This was an exciting surprise!
This definitely is different than your normal ones but I really like what I’m seeing. Your videos are always great hope this one was fun for you.

I bought this game from a small Japanese electronics shop when I was a Marine stationed at Camp Hansen in Okinawa back in 1983. I practically wore that thing out by the time I went back to the States a year later. Great game too! I remember being pretty good at it on Level 3. However, I did have to share the game with some of my fellow Marines. Thanks for bringing back some good memories, TysyTube!
I had one of these in the early 80s. Everyone I knew "modded" the game by placing little strips of color cellophane on the screen so as the alien progress downward, their color changes.
Ahahaha that comment is legendary.
I played with the coin-op in early 80s and It had a multicolor screen on It to do that effect. Maybe this was the origin of that modding.
Like a Vectrex?
40 years dude
I bet that looked cool

I am surprised by the amount of batteries that these handheld consoles used
They ate them fast, too!
its 98% that screen. those use a ton of power.
actually my bike light needs 6 batteries does that satisfy you?
A lot of kid toys still need this many batteries.
@@Donja.z yeah but today we have rechargeable battery. Back then we had to buy a new set of battery.
My grandfather actually had one of these, and to my knowledge it still works. I used to play it for ages when I was much younger, so seeing it again makes me feel warm inside
I thought this was an odd tinkering video and then checked when the screwdriver was different. Then had to double check when the solarium got broken out. I love both channels and was thrown for a loop.
Soo saame bruuuhhh..

Just the idea of bringing something old back to new makes me smile. This in itself is pure art. Love it!👍
At 3:00 that’s not the charging port, that was for a DC adapter to run it plugged in instead of with batteries. Old electronics like this didn’t have built-in charging capability; if you had rechargeable removable batteries you needed to take them out and charge them using the battery charger, just like you still do.
I bet he knows that if he tinkers with electronics. It might have been lost in translation.
@@sebastian19745 well this came was released in around the 1980's, and the NiMH didn't become commercially available until 1989 and forward and they where ridiculously expensive and kind of still sucked. i will now take my old man cane and run into the sunset like the know-it-all hero no one asked for.
@@Winther83 You used nickel-cadmium as rechargeable batteries with toys like these and charging them was sometimes as easy as putting power into them, straight on. No circuitry needed.
Why the Frick is there one using the same name for every comment
I think he refers to the charger port, or DC adaptor port, but he knows it doesnt charge.
It’s so cool to see how these things looked and worked when they were originally bought

I'm completely in love with your restoration videos, probably one of the best restoration channels there is. Very relaxing, explains the process through captions. You do a wonderful job! Those times... when the electronics are almost had a lifetime life.
Now in 2020, Samsung produces electronics which have a lifetime equal to warranty time. Which is 2 years.
Xiaomi states it openly in their packages that the product has a two year electronics warranty and five years lifetime. Only 5 years!
But why?

Really great save! Put a smile on my face when you powered up the game. I have repaired several over the years. Most of the time it's just a loose wire or corroded battery terminals. And just plain dirty.
The “retro bright” thing really looks like witchcraft.

I don't know if you know this (or care, even), but in the UK we have a word which accurately describes the messy, dirty, grimy, filthy state the console was in when you bought it: Grotty. :D
🤣🤣🤣🤣 funny word
@@TysyTube :D Good, isn't it? :D Nice work in this episode. Nice one! :)

@@cindykincade589 The word applies to anything or anyone or any place that's in a filthy, dirty, messy (etc) state. Dirty hands could be grotty. A dirty, muddy, ******-laden, dusty, decrepit building that's fallen into disrepair could be grotty. A kid whose clothes are a mess and they're unwashed etc could also be grotty. You get the idea. My point is, it doesn't just relate to messy. dirty, filthy gaming consoles. :)

3:43 - That is actually a piezo transducer, not a speaker driven by a coil. By the look of it, it is also a VFD - Vacuum Fluorescent Display, instead of LCD.
Yup, almost all of the games of that era were VFDs. It looks, from the demo, like the VFD might be starting to go, or the contacts need more cleaning, I could see dimming and maybe some ghosting. 8 Bit Guy fixed a Pac Man VFD machine with ghosting.
