- We leave Camping Den Driesch in The Netherlands , travelling first to visit a friend in Antwerp, Belgium for lunch, then onto Ieper (Ypres) in Belgium, staying at Camping Jeugdstadion.
On the way there we run over what appeared to be a mud guard on the motorway and damage the bottom of the Motorhome.

Beautiful weather for that stretch of the journey. There seem to be more canines in that garden than humans!
Great video. Especially the checking in at campsite. That’s where we hope to go next year
The check in has changed now, this was filmed in 2018. We have just left the site so a video will be coming in the next few weeks. The new system is you are sent, in an email, an individual PIN number to enter at the barrier when you arrive and leave the site. We found this new system so much easier.
Sorry to see your motor home was damaged sure it will get sorted soon. We just had our very first trip in a motor home hire and loved it. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Thank you, it will be fine. Enjoy your Motorhome!
What a bummer! As you say the 'hit' on the van could have been worse but none the less it does take the edge of the day. Enjoy that whiskey (or two) and looking forward to the travels to come. Take care...
Glad to see your both ok , you will soon have it fixed I’m sure , safe travels x x👍🏻👍🏻
Devastated to see what happened to your van Bob try not to dwell on it all will be sorted when you return home don't let it spoil a great holiday take care all of you another great vlog 👍
Thank you George, no we're still enjoying our holiday, and it will get sorted when we get back.
My heart sank for you lovely people ,yes it could have been worse but.....the damm inconvenience off it all ,just reminds us how we take for granted the big strong tanks we think we're traveling in are soo easily damaged.
Most enjoyable vlog ,how you coped with so many lines on the road in some places beats me 😨......thank you both 👍💟
Really sorry to see the damage to your lovely van..We all know it will be sorted out when you return home but still gutted...
Thanks
I definitely would have needed to regain my composure after realizing the damage done to the van. I imagine you did the same. As you say, it will be fixed after all. Great display of a good attitude.… And even the van got replaced after all.
It hit us later with the insurance premium hikes.
Dammitt ! Bad luck when that happens. At least it’s only small cosmetic damage. Don’t let it spoil the trip. Trev 👍🏻🙂
Thanks Trev, we won't.
Salut călătoria cu rulota este foarte frumoasă și cea mai liberă , felicitări pentru material bine prezentat. Succes
Ya - you can help with the process - BUT - we won't pay you :) I think that is funny :) i.e. referring to the off ramp construction site ..... Ya - that was a very peaceful visit :) Wait - what happen to the motor- coach ? ..... Well, sorry about your ride :( It could have been a lot worst ...... As always - I look forward to the next leg of your adventure :) And - of course - Thank you for sharing :)
Oops, I would have used white tape, but anything is better than nothing. I assume you will be visiting Todds upon your return unless your insurance company tell you otherwise. Might be worth sending some photos so they can check availability for required parts. Don't let it spoil your holiday
Oh guys I saw your post on your Facebook page yesterday... my heart sank ... hope
You are all ok ... it’s just the inconvenience of it all .... try not to dwell on it too much for the rest of
Your trip 😊
Thanks Debs. We are all fine, thanks for your concern, it will get sorted.
Sorry you got some damage. So unfair when you've done nothing wrong. At least it's just cosmetic and you can wait till you're home to fix it. Hope the rest of your trip is less stressful.
Great video except for the damage to your lovely motorhome, I was gutted for you. I'm sure you will get it sorted and hope you enjoyed your whiskey ;))
Thanks Stew. The whisky was well received and we will get it sorted.
Glad your OK. We've just returned from a weekend at the Warren C&C site in Folkestone & our friends incurred similar damage on the way on the rear to a similar panel on their van. They had an estimate for their panel of £300! Jenny mentioned the good condition of the roads over there, here in the UK the AA have just reported the highest number of call outs due to, you guessed it, pot holes!
Thanks John, that sounds better than I thought.
Bob, just to say theirs was a small panel on the rear behind the wheel arch which mates up to the rear bumper.
@@johnvickers5750 Thanks, ours is a panel surrounding the bottom of the door.
Hi Bob and Jenny, sorry to see the damage, lucky it’s a Swift really, as many other vans that would be a much bigger panel. Out of interest I guess you pre-booked the sites you stayed at, would you recommend this approach, as it does kind of dictate the flow of the trip as opposed to finding a really nice site en-route and spending a few days.
Thanks, yes hopefully shouldn't be too bad to replace a moulding. We like to pre-book as we know where we are going, and that we'll have somewhere when we get there. I suppose we find it less stressful than sonetimes not knowing where we can stay or perhaps having to drive around looking for somewhere, if places are full.
What kind of navigation system do you use? I have Tom Tom
When the video was made I had a Falcon Navigator. I now use a Axtex Tourer Two.
hi, what sat nav is in use and are u pleased with performance of it, tks, e.
The sat nav is a Falcon Navigator from Falcon Electronics. We're finding it's getting a little old now, it keeps running out of memory, and it's not a 'smart' sat nav, with travel updates etc. Having said that, it has navigated us all around Europe very well.
Hey Bob, what's the name of the seat you are sitting in at the end of the video ?
I'd have to ask our friend Glyn, they're his chairs.
Glyn says they are Active Sport Moon Chairs
From The Range
What sat / nav do you use
This was 2 years ago and we had a Falcon Navigator, We currently have a Avtex Tourer Two.
