  • This is Part 2 of my Switzerland trip in my self-built Fiat Ducato campervan. I have a quick pit stop in Lucerne where I walk around the city centre and across the famous Spreuerbrücke wooden bridge. There was easy camper van parking nearby and the city had a nice feel to it so will add that to our list to re-visit!
After Lucerne I headed to Lauterbrunnen and stayed at Camping Jungfrau for a few nights. The campsite was amazing - located in the valley with mountains all around. It's quite a large site but didn't feel too crowded even though it was a bank holiday weekend. The facilities were great and there is so much to do in the area. Just an hours walk along the valley is the 4 cable car journey up to Schilthorn with dramatic views at nearly 10,000 ft! On the way back down I split the journey to explore some of the other stops including Birg with the thrill walk around the edge of the mountain and Mürren, the mountain town with no road connection to the valley! Finally, I explored the waterfall just next to the campsite where you can walk up and behind it and then took the cog railway up to the town of Wengen high over Lauterbrunnen to end the Swiss journey with the most epic view over the valley.
I thoroughly recommend Switzerland as a destination for van life trips and despite the cost (fuel was ok but food was expensive) it was perfectly manageable if you plan a bit. Let me know in the comments if you have any top tips for van life Switzerland and any places we should check out next time. Thanks for watching.

Please make more videos. I have watched all your videos since yesterday & they are very enjoyable. Your van is smashing. I watched the Van Tour & all the work is very neatly & tidely done. I would have added solar panels though as they would give greater flexibilty if you stayed on a site for a few days. In one of your videos, you said that you used to do city breaks but vanlife allowed you to see much more of a country. I completely agree with this statement & am trying to convince my wife of this. Anyway, please make more videos. Stay well.

Thanks for the lovely feedback and really pleased you enjoy the videos. I hope to do more again soon but life is manic at the moment! Yes van gives you ultimate freedom - we’re enjoying seeing more countryside and also smaller or out of the way places we never would have gone to. We also love it as most cities have van parking so you can combine city breaks and vanlife which is our dream!

wow that is an amazing journey in Switzerland. I am including that cable car (but not the walk around the edge of the mountain!) on our wish list. Great video

Hi, I loved your video. I am going to Switzerlandin in September by motorhome, I would like to confirm the of cities you ‘ve been on this video, if I am not wrong it was Lauterbrunnen and Berg. Is that right?? In which camper ground you parked the RV to take the Cable car to go up?
    Cheers😊

Glad you enjoyed the videos. Switzerland is amazing. So yeah Lauterbrunnen staying at Camping Jungfrau and Zug which was at a campsite that is now closed. The cable car was Lauterbrunnen. There are two cable cars that get you to Murren, a cog railway up to Wengen and normal train to Interlaken all of which I recommend.

Had a few trips recently but didn’t film. Don’t really get much interested in the vlog stuff. Think we’ll try and go to one or two if we can yeah.

Is it possible to park a motorhome in a "normal" parking lot in the cities while I shop? or are there some regulations about Motorhome parking?

There are probably regulations. Depends how big it is too. Ours is 5.4m so fits in normal parking spaces. Sometimes there are height barriers however.
