Suramar is incredibly beautiful and magnificent. Memories of how I did quests in this beautiful city. Legion was the best wow expansion. How I miss watching your videos.

This is a great case of graphics telling a story. For so many years, we've heard about the Highborne civilization and its majesty. With Suramar City, they told the story of the Highborne better than any book/comic/story ever could. Everything about it screams excess and vanity, and how you can really see how such people could bring about their own destruction. I love it.
Literally my favorite-designed zone in the game. The first time I went through Suramar, I was astounded by how huge and amazing the place was. Nothing felt copy+pasted like other cities do, it was all unique.
Blizzard's art team really outdid themselves there.
I'd love to see Silvermoon redone with this kind of polish and grandeur.
Mfw Suramar City alone had more love put into it than all of Draenor.
In terms of content and questing, yes... but the zone graphics in Draenor were very well done. Just not anything to do there once you reached max level.

Very true, I think Blizzard were really excited to make it. It’s a place with a lot of lore significance, and I hope they’ll do more with it in the future. Like, in dungeons, battlegrounds or scenarios.

Suramar City has been the most emotional experience for me in my time spent playing Warcraft. I've felt sorrow, I've felt grief, I've felt rage and have gone on elf and demon killing sprees because of what I've seen while in Suramar. I'm so committed to what's going on there, and changing it
Why can't this become a major city rather than a questing zone it's aweasome! although Dalaran ain't that bad
Too bad the citizens are hostile, I really would like to explore this fantastic city without the risk of being killed all the time.
Just quest some more in Suramar - You'll get a disguise you can use to roam around unharmed (mostly)
I'm hoping after we save it, it becomes a HUGE neutral city.. So Dalaran may leave the Broken Isles.
I got the disguise, but there are a lot of guards who can seee through it. Or do we get an even better disguise later?
Not in 7.0 / 7.1 at least. But in the next patch there will be a mount that puts on your disguise automatically, so that's something.

The most beautiful city, with the best questline ever, in the best expansion I've ever seen.
I made the mistake to only join at the end of the expansion and I had like 3-4 months to do everything...
I miss Legion a lot :'(
You can still fully play the whole expansion. It's just that you are level squished now and zones adjust to your current level. And it obviously won't be heavily populated like it used to be. So world bosses may not be possible to defeat now.
Imagine how much different WoW would be if it was released today. Imagine the scale of Ironforge or Stormwind if they had the engine + assets that were used in Suramar city.
Be kickass if they could go back and boost city size, though I know they can't or wont
Yeah they won't :( although, according to some WoW Alpha videos, IF used to be bigger and have several levels deeps, which makes more sense since it is a city built under the mountain
Actually, Ironforge and the Undercity are twice the size you know them to be. There’s an entire upper floor in both of them that is just empty. It’s more a question of development time.
Very cool! I was amazed by Suramar City when I first started questing there. Very interesting to see how texture-less shapes turned into the beautiful city. Would love to see how more places in Legion evolved! Good work!
I really hope that at some point, they give us a more powerful version of Masquerade, one that the guards cannot break, so we can properly explore the city in comfort.
Maybe as a quest reward in the Nighthold raid, or purchasable/winable once you're Exalted with the Nightfallen.

I love these type of videos, your "evolution" videos. This wasn't like the others, but I love these videos that show the difference between what they originally planned/launched and how it is today. The Mount Hyjal one is my favorite right now. As for this video, it is amazing how they really seemed to have the city 100% fleshed out in Alpha as most of the changes were just texturing and adding more foliage. The only place that really changed was the Evermoon areas, but it didn't seem like there was much in it besides placeholders in Alpha.
The last gasp of blizzard right here. The only shred of soul they had left.

Yay, been waiting for a video on that dungeon as well. I am guessing that the dungeon is designed in a similar way to Grimrail Depot, like the ship being stationary while the water swirls up and down.

I was absolutely stunned when i entered Suramar the first time. This area not only provides more content than all of the WoD Zones combined, but it looks and feels stunning. Blizzard promised i'd be awesome, and it is probably one of my favorite zones in WoW. It feels like an organic, alive city where you actually have to do an approach on stealth to fully explore.

As AMAZING as this city is to behold, i understand now why functional player cities were made smaller. People really do get lost here in Suramar (especially w/o an individual map for the city).
In Alpha/Beta Classic WoW, Ironforge was massive and comprised of an outer, inner, and central ring of the city. People got extremely lost in the cavernous IF.
It makes me wonder how GW2 manages to make their cities big without similar complaints. I feel like Blizzard could stand to at least give the illusion of a sprawling city, though that may be hard with flying.

Suramar is now my favorite zone of WoW, with Icecrown as a VERY close second.

Surumar feels like one of the few cities in WoW that actually looks like a city, unlike many others like Undercity or Exodar that makes you wonder how they're considered cities at all

They really knew what they wanted with this city, the only noticeable changes are the textures and the placeholders. They just added trees, objects and some polish and we got this truly beautiful city.

You're not wrong. I am undergoing both chemotherapy and radiation treatment on my neck at the moment and its a real struggle just to be able to speak at all. It would be incredible if you hadn't noticed that my voice was weaker.

Suramar City is beautiful. I have a hard time appreciating it when I'm constantly dodging patrols though. Perhaps after we take the city we'll get a change to explore it without angry elves and demons breathing down our necks.

Suramar is a very pretty zone, but holy hell, it is probably the most frustrating leveling zone in the entire game. And I am not just talking about the city, I am talking about the entire zone.

Do hellhiem! Its a "subzone" in the viking zone. I want to know if its on the same map ID or not as broken isles. Game flags it as being part of the greater zone but invisible walls prevent exploration.

Surprised nobody has said they prefer the alpha version over the live one. Did not enjoy this video as much as I have others, Suramar did not change much in terms of layout like in other alpha/live comparisons to warrant a video. The other day while walking in spirit form I was able to mount on a eagle to my body not sure if it was a glitch or what as I have never been able to do that in Suramar or legion before.

Not a huge fan of elven lore, architecture or anything like that but my word Suramar is a work that is for sure.
I took a HUGE break from WoW after grinding through this expansion and getting exalted with all factions and unlocking every race. I got the super rare purple flying carpet mount and more.
My biggest problem was after beating the storyline Suramar City was still.... invaded by the Legion???? No ability to walk freely around the whole city. What a waste of design. Don't have time to appreciate anything because you are always hiding or running away to not get discovered.
They said we can freely explore every inch of this "Night Elf metropolis"... something's not quite right...

I don't see why blizzard didn't make this a capital or a Nuetral city like shattrah. There's alot of wasted potential in wow. They can go back and fill in the giant missing gaps(lore, location development, etc.).. who knows that's going on behind the scenes of why not. -one love.
Wonder how high mountain looked or valshara. High mountain Bc of all the mountains and caves and vertical space and valshara Bc of the lore and see how it changed Bc of those things.

Seing this somehow makes me sad about Zul'drak zone. This ancient, oppressive city at war with scourge was never really used, while it really had some great lore and atmosphere potential. They should have put more reputation farming, high level quests and a raid there. Suramar looks ... too good, too nice to fit in a world at war to me.
Did you not pay attention to the lore? The city was shielded for years upon years from outside interference.
GodZirraAnim Of course I did. But, for exemple, they originally wanted to make a raid out of Gundrak, and it ended up being a simple dungeon. I guess they could have brought up some other ideas to make the place more attractive-again, it had great potential. Honestly, this is a zone I literrally loved, but it's also the one I spent the less time in during WotLK because there was nothing to do outside of levelling. All the other zones had reputations/raids, and some cool HL content. Even Grizzly hills had these funny dailies with that Horde-Alliance war going on. But Zul'drak ? :'( Sad thing to me.

Seen this gorgeous place in this awesome vid, got motivated to start the game and level up. Went to the class hall , accidently spent all 4 of my artifact talent points (or whatever they are called) on the wrong talent since this GUI doesn't work like everything else worked in WoW before. Tried solving this by using the new "tome" thing that allows you to change talents for 1 min - didn't work, only allows you to fix character specific talents. Realized that now I can't even choose skills without asking for help and wasting time. Closed the game back, it's better that way now.

A beautiful city with amazing lore, shame they made it the games most annoying place to go to, i hate that city because of the guards. Every time i go there i dread it, cant really explore what they created there, at least i am now exalted with the nightfallen junkies so i never have to return to that dreaded city ever again.

In live is suramar a requirement?
It is to get flying (loremaster and rep grind parts) and to get attuned to the two dungeons and the raid instance in the zone.
