And for the rest of the world: That's an 8.5mm and a 4.5mm drill bit you need.
Also, when you connect the middle strap to the new hole, also connect the lower strap to the now free middle hole. It makes the pad stay up even better. (Before doing this mod, I tried the "criss-cross the two lower straps" method. Did not work for me at all. I can heartily recommend the method described in this video.)

Before drilling I recommend putting a metal plate (or a couple old credit cards) behind the plastic (easily slides in there) so the drill doesn't go into the cloth.

    Love these knee pads.
Before I watched this video, I had the same problem: they would slide down my legs as I was riding.
Before I decided to drill mine for new holes though, I tried just putting the middle straps higher on my leg, on top of my calves muscle, while using the original hole.
Found that they don't slip down at all anymore, even after a few hours of riding. So I guess that was the key.
I'm glad drilling those holes was not necessary for me, but I wouldn't have thought of trying this without this video, thank you for this tip!

I know it's 2 years later - but this is exactly what I was going to say. The middle strap is by far the most important. Make sure it's tight, and make sure it's above your calf muscle. For me that worked as well. Check that you're not wearing your pads too low in general!

The fox racing knee guards have a very similar 3 part design, but the straps also have Velcro to adjust their lengths.
Mine still slide down my legs though.
I’m not sure a new hole would help me, maybe just tighten the middle strap even more.
One person suggested criss crossing the top and middle straps, maybe I’ll try that too.

    • @JoachimVesely
      @JoachimVesely Před 2 lety

The reason tightening might not work as well is because your leg is essentially a taper, which is what causes the downward slide; less resistance.

I see that you can clip tha middle strap also to fourth of the shin air vent (counted from the bottom). It looks that it holds firmly there. What I don't like is how wide knee caps of these protectors are. I've L/XL because of recommendation and strap lengths. But S/M have (personally) better fit in knee cap but shin and straps look small and short.

Love your channel. Have watched a ton of your videos. You and a few other channels were instrumental in my buying a Veteran Sherman. My CZcams channel www.CZcams.com/CruisingOffDuty has been mainly a travel and sailing based channel but I feel a PEV and particularly a EUC is the perfect personal mobility device for sailors that go to shore but then need a way to get around and explore the countryside. So I plan to start a whole new chapter on the channel covering my Sherman and, maybe eventually in the future, covering smaller EUCs or Electric Scooters as my wife currently has nothing to explore with me.
I plan to say nothing but great things about your channel and a select number of other channels and I plan to put your Channel Name in the video and the full channel link in the description. You do such a great job of being an ambassador for the EUC sport by organizing those group rides. I would totally join you if I didn’t live in Ottawa Canada. I think we need to bring even more exposure to the benefits of EUCs. I wanted to give you this heads up. I assume you will be good with the extra exposure?
Thanks for all the work you do to create your great content. I know the level of work that you have to do to create content and I don’t think you get the views that you deserve.
All the best and Safe Cruising!
