  • I've mostly been buying vintage an antique tools as of late, as I want to invest in tools for life, and honest the price of knives is just silly, I'm trying to buy less Chinese anything and that includes knives, I still love knives, I'm still collecting knives, and indeed I still want to make knife videos, however I'd like to add some vintage and antique tools to the mix, including but not limited to, axes, planes, chisels, hammers, screwdrivers, spanner, braces and bits, hand power drill plus anything else I find interesting or fun. Hope to see you soon.

You’re quite right about knife prices, they’re mad! I’ve certainly slowed right down in my buying. I’m doing a series on high end knives at the moment, but they’re all borrowed, not bought.
Upload your tool videos, I’ll watch them.
I have a pair of Arthur Wright, Sheffield made, bents. They are our every day kitchen scissors.

I remember when I first got into knives, one of my earlier knives was a Spyderco sqeak, sure I payed £50 or so, now £90, that's different the upper end of what I'd possibly buy, if I really like a knife, personally I can never imagine paying £500 plus for a knife, in fact I payed about that for a professional Swedish chainsaw for prospective.

My friend , if not collecting knives , you're still collecting old tools . What are pocket knives?...... Pocket tools. Speaking for myself , being a retired chippy , I have a huge collection of old stuff. Good on you for not overlooking old treasures , ATB Tony.🐴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The old stuff is way better in my opinion, I've got a nice collection of planes, Both Stanley and Record, tho I prefer Record, I like the old wooden planes, mostly forgotten now but they work great. Just picked up too old Record sash clamps, probably 60s or older, £25 for the pair, pretty good me thinks 😁

Sounds like a plan! Do you plan to re-furbish the tools or will they stay "as is"? Personally, I like tool sets like screwdrivers that have their handles or grips made of wood...as to sharpening saws, you might want to check out Felix Immler's channel...I think there might be something on his channel on that subject... Thanks!

Bit of both, I like to "clean up" tools within my ability, some I will never touch as they are antique and very rare, but most I plane to just bring back to a fair usable condition.
Glad you mentioned wooden handle screwdrivers! I LOVE them! Got a few, including a massive one, honestly it's like a sword, I will happily (try to) make a video on them if you are interested.

It’s also the lockdowns and the economy crashing, we are about to get into hyper inflation, so prices are going to get worse man.
But then where can you buy second hand stuff?
Never seen many stuff for sale second hand, and even then people don’t sell Spyderco’s cheap.
Was just thinking you have a blank firer, will that now be a licensed item since it could be seen as a firework?
Scotland changed the laws on fireworks.

Yeah I think we're in for a bad time, part of the reason I went second hand, and at least with hand tools I get busy, when the power goes out, I bought an old paraffin lamp at a boot sale for that reason.
I get most of mine from car boot sales, flea markets, Sunday Markets, auction etc, you just have to be patient, and you'll find what you want, Facebook market place is not bad, I bought a 1950s Stanley No 5 1/2 on there for a tenner.
I've heard of something about Scotlands firework law changing but didn't know whats different, I thought they were banned this year but they were still in the shops.
Don't have a clue if it would have any effect on blanks, wouldn't surprise me.
