      No! I need my local bike shop because I can’t fix all of my messes I get into! (Even though I did buy the book!) We do need to support them! If we don’t, you will massively regret it!!!

      @@necroticavalon5176 It is on sale, as a new model was released. Fischer is a brand from Germany. They are known for their cheaper bikes but they hired a new product manager some years ago, who is changing the productline to more quality bikes with better parts etc. The prices have going up, but the bikes are quit nice. When you live in Germany, they come to your home and repair the bikes. Since I bought a bike from them before, I tried this fully and it is just pure fun. Saw a video before from a german rider whos girlfriend bought the bike and he did 10m road gaps with this thing. If it is enough for something like this, it will handle most things.

    ...or just wait for a big sale. I bought a Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 625 + head and tail light + carrier and bottle, for just over 2.6k euros too. Was going for a stand too, but they didn't have any (said they'd get them in a couple weeks). Bigger battery, better motor (Bosch Performance CX), better quality components. Normally over here (Croatia), it went for 3.1k, but the shop had a big sale going, and I pounced on it. Was lucky to get the last one they had in stock.

    the lidl bike will be fine for most riders that are not going to be doing Kamakazi downhills and components can always be upgraded later .
    however , Lidl in Germany is synonymous with lesser quality by some . For instance , my Kangal dog loved butter on her food , but she would only eat first class butter from Edeka .we tried Lidl butter and she gave us a look like ," WTF l did you really think i couldn't tell the difference ?"

    When you can get something like a Cube Hybrid 160 for £3300, I know what I'd go for.
    Still, it's a good price but if it was £2250, that would be a bargain.

    I could understand the appeal of a Lidl ebike if it had a Bafang motor where you can get service items and parts relatively easy to fix yourself but Brose have a poor record on reliability and its highly proprietary. Where do you take your Lidl bike in 2 years when the warranty is finished and 2 of the internal bearings need replacing etc. Surely products that are highly proprietary need proper support channels. Specialized had a huge recall on Brose motor ebikes with a huge amount of early failures including some reported first ride failures.

    • @embn
      @embn  Před 23 dny

      Some great points, from what we can tell Lidl is a distributer for the eBike but the company that actually make them (and probably offer warranty support) are FISCHER. With the Brose motor the we recently spoke with the eBike Motor Centre's owner Peter Collard who told us that the Brose motor was the highly serviceable and after their upgrade quite reliable as well 👍

    • @bonzobanana1
      @bonzobanana1 Před 23 dny +1

      @@embn That's interesting although 'quite reliable' isn't as inspiring as just 'reliable'. Also 'their upgrade' sounds like something they have done to improve reliability. This all sounds like additional time and money to get a good motor. Let's face it if you are buying a cheap ebike from Lidl you probably aren't ready for high ongoing costs. I feel a Bafang motor is the best option for initial purchase and long term value purely because parts are available.

    • @richardkaz2336

      The funny thing is that Lidl and Trek are in a partnership. That said I have a Trek Powerfly FS7 with12,600km on the clock and it has no problems with it's motor and the battery is still giving 99% charge. I just brought my wife a new Trek Rail 7 because of the reliability of the Bosch motor/battery.
      What this cheap bike gives someone who doesn't have much cash to throw at a bike a chance to enter the scene, after all my entry MTB was a Aldi/Polygon, 29er, XT 1x10, SLX hydraulic brakes, hard tail, the best $350 I ever spent.
