Maybe it’s just me since I’m a researcher who’s fact checked The 1619 Project myself, but it’s a historically inaccurate & one-sided piece of work that’s developed to push a particular agenda. It’s basically like Q-Anon for the left, they confabulate some facts with their own opinions in an attempt at teaching you what to think, instead of teaching you how to think like a true educator would.
If anyone is wondering what historians had to say about the 1619 project, watch this video & read this Wikipedia entry:
      czcams.com/video/8Z01vyR6Hyk/video.html
      Response from Historians
Beginning in October 2019, the World Socialist Web Site published a series of interviews with prominent historians critical of the 1619 Project, including Victoria E. Bynum, James M. McPherson, Gordon S. Wood, James Oakes, Richard Carwardine and Clayborne Carson.[6][5][37][38] In an essay for The New York Review of Books, historian Sean Wilentz accused the 1619 Project of cynicism for its portrayal of the American Revolution, the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln, who Wilentz wrote is "rendered as a white supremacist".[39]
In a December 2019 letter published in The New York Times, historians Gordon S. Wood, James M. McPherson, Sean Wilentz, Victoria Bynum and James Oakes expressed "strong reservations" about the project and requested factual corrections, accusing the authors of a "displacement of historical understanding by ideology". The letter disputed the claim, made in the Hannah-Jones' introductory essay to the 1619 Project, that "one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery". The Times published the letter along with a rebuttal from the magazine's editor-in-chief, Jake Silverstein,[7][5] who defended the accuracy of the 1619 Project and declined to issue corrections. Wood responded in a letter, "I don't know of any colonist who said that they wanted independence in order to preserve their slaves ... No colonist expressed alarm that the mother country was out to abolish slavery in 1776."[6][40] In an article in The Atlantic, Wilentz responded to Silverstein, writing, "No effort to educate the public in order to advance social justice can afford to dispense with a respect for basic facts", and disputing the factual accuracy of Silverstein's defense of the project.[41]
Also in December 2019, twelve scholars and political scientists specializing in the American Civil War sent a letter to the Times saying that "The 1619 Project offers a historically-limited view of slavery." While agreeing to the importance of examining American slavery, they objected to what they described as the portrayal of slavery as a uniquely American phenomenon, to construing slavery as a capitalist venture, and to presenting out-of-context quotes of a conversation between Abraham Lincoln and "five esteemed free black men". The following month, Times editor Jake Silverstein replied with a rebuttal.[42]
In January 2020, historian Dr. Susan Parker, who specializes in the studies of Colonial United States at Flagler College, noted that slavery existed before any of the 13 Colonies. She wrote in an editorial in The St. Augustine Record that "The settlement known as San Miguel de Gualdape lasted for about six weeks from late September 1526 to the middle of November. Historian Paul Hoffman writes that the slaves at San Miguel rebelled and set fire to some homes of the Spaniards."[43] Writing in USA Today, several historians among them Parker, archaeologist Kathleen A. Deagan also of Flagler, and civil rights activist and historian David Nolan all agreed that slavery was present decades before the year 1619. According to Deagan, people have "spent their careers trying to correct the erroneous belief," and Nolan said that in ignoring the earlier settlement, the authors were "robbing black history".[44]
In March 2020, historian Leslie M. Harris, who was consulted for the Project, wrote in Politico that she had warned that the idea that the American Revolution was fought to protect slavery was inaccurate, and that the Times made avoidable mistakes, but that the project was "a much-needed corrective to the blindly celebratory histories".[45] Hannah-Jones has also said that she stands by the claim that slavery helped fuel the revolution, though she concedes she might have phrased it too strongly in her essay, in a way that could give readers the impression that the support for slavery was universal.[5][45] On March 11, 2020, Silverstein authored an "update" in the form of a "clarification" on the Times' website, correcting Hannah-Jones's essay to state that "protecting slavery was a primary motivation for some of the colonists".[46] This "clarification" was reportedly prompted by a private warning to Silverstein by Harvard classicist and political scientist Danielle Allen that she might go public with criticism if the passage on the revolution were not corrected.[12]

    2. If you teach empathy as one of your core tenets, then imagine inflicting the very harm in which you claim to be so very against.
    3. You cite the 1619 project as factual history. Respectfully sir this thesis has been widely debunked by some of our greatest historians of all colors.
    4. CRT is an ideology and is no different than religion. We have laws that separate church and state.
    5. If CSD has hiring protocols that give precedence to candidates solely based on race or gender, I ask you sir, would you be ok with these very same rules being applied to whom you can recruit? You recruit the most talented athletes you can. You job depends on successful outcomes. Imagine talent or merit being necessary traits in order for your program to be successful. Now imagine being told you can’t recruit based on talent/merit but rather to fulfill quotas in the name of equity. How would your program fare? You know the answers to these questions. One thing: we do not have laws separating church and state. There's nothing in the law that says that period. That actual law was to protect all forms of religion and to make sure they have freedom to worship and we don't hold one above the other. It was not meant to protect the the state from relgion . Unfortunately because no one knows this it is why the atheist were successful in removing religious beliefs out of public schools. But just because they won doesn't mean it was lawful. If you don't like what's being taught take your kids out of the schools place them somewhere else or homeschool period. I don't agree with CRT but this is how they attack Christians in public schools so I don't agree with this and they actual lawfully have a right to teach it. But you have the freedoms to choose as well who and where your kids get educated. Not all parents are willing to do what it takes to protect their children education and thus they will keep CRT their kids will be indoctrinated and no one will do anything about it. Pull the kids out of school that's where the funding gets hit the most.

We were a 3A school in a small town where the children were geographically sheltered mostly because it was a 30 minute ride just to get here for most people, with no bus system, and every parent signed their child up for some kind of in AND out of school program, mostly sports. We had a BLACK YOUNG MAN FOR OUR HOMECOMING KING AND OUR QUEEN WAS VIETNAMESE, HIS BROTHER WAS ALSO ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL. THE MOST POPULAR YOUNG MAN IN SCHOOL WAS HALF BLACK AND HALF WHITE, I KNEW HIM FROM 3RD GRADE, AND WHEN HE STEPPED ON THAT FOOTBALL FIELD AND HIS NAME WAS ANNOUNCED, YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT YOU WERE AT A ROCK CONCERT, AND HIS BEST FRIEND WAS ASIAN. MY SON PLAYED OREGON PREP AND CAMAS BASKETBALL FOR 8 YEARS AND ALL OF HIS FRIENDS ARE OF DIFFERENT ETHNICITY. NO WE DON'T HAVE ALOT OF BLACKS, BUT THE ONES WE DO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF ACCOMPANYING, ARE MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, ARE TREATED LIKE GOLD. America went to hell in a hand basket, and now we have to work our way out. Coming to our City and announcing the fact that you don't like it because the schools are not good and the people and teachers don't care and we are a narrow minded community is not a good way to treat your 3 brown children, OR ANY CHILDREN! Black lives DO matter, SO WHEN THEY OFFER THE PROGRAM WHERE THE POLICE COME INTO THE SCHOOLS AND PLAY BASKETBALL WITH THE STUDENTS TO BRIDGE THE GAP, PLEASE SUPPORT THAT!!!!!!!!!! YOUR CHILDREN WILL THEN LEARN TO RESPECT THE "PEACE" OFFICERS IN OUR COMMUNITY AND BE LESS LIKELY AFRAID OF THEM. MAKE MORE PROGRAMS LIKE THAT. SPORTS AND MUSIC HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A UNITING FACTOR IN OUR COUNTRY, KEEP THAT STUFF IN CHECK!! BUSY CHILDREN ARE HAPPY CHILDREN!! No to CRT. You cannot flood a small district with thousands of people and expect it to stay the same. It just does not work that way. This district will NEVER be what you moved here for.

So the last person embodies the peddled concept. His opinion is a good or bad a anyone else's, he being black (or whatever ethnicity) doesn't give him a special truism to his word, as it wouldn't give a white guy one. But it's the first things he says.
Imagine a white guy saying "my beautiful white children" (as if their color was relevant). Imagine that he, as a former chemistry teacher, feels entitled to change history because of... sensitivities that better fit some hurtful emotion. Imagine having as part of your argument to point to everyone's color as some form of demonstration for reason ("you are more therefore you need to feel the oppressor" seems to be the logic). Etc.
Regarding his "battle cry" as if people like him will get away with some change of facts because of their ideological conviction, he better understand that other people have the same right to uphold their views on the same level regardless of color and that intimidation, violence, and "look at me, therefore STAY silent" won't work.
It is NOT the first time that Humanism (that philosophy that values HUMANS regardless of differences) has to fight TRIBALISM OF ANY KIND (whether by religion, skin color, ideology, class, the perception of these, gender or whatever) and that a form of TRIBALISM (wokeism, Identity Politics, CRT, etc.) that DISGUISED ITSELF as "more empathic" in the end will be uncover for what it is: hatred, resentment, entitlement, envy, etc..

I completely agree with the last speaker. This IS a challenge to the community. He is correct that the schools can teach, but it is parents that truly mold our children. This means that the majority of us will raise our kids with respect for our history, and respect for all. Unfortunately, as he mentioned, there are those that will teach hate, bigotry, misogyny, and prejudice. It's up to us as a community to reject that. Not just ignore it - we must actively reject it. Camas is an amazing place that I have called home for 19 years. I have 3 kids in CSD. We are an incredibly privileged community. We are privileged with a beautiful environment, great businesses, and wonderful people. What we do lack is diversity. Diversity lets us learn from others with different life experiences, different histories, and different perspectives. To shut that out and cry "it's not fair" only proves how much we need it. I applaud Camas School District for running headlong into a very difficult situation. The current plan might not work. But, the beauty of our system is that we CAN change it. We can try other things. We can adapt. The only thing we cannot do is nothing.

It’s funny that this report was about the “Camas” School District, with teachers that know how to spell or use a gazetteer. When it’s actually Kamas... not just a town or school district but a name used for all sorts of things in that mountain area of Utah.
