I'm sorry, but i agree and disagree. When things are commonplace we tend to take them for granted. And we dont always understand that everywhere else is not like where we are. So, it is understandable that if you have plenty of choices that you would only pick the best.

We painted a flat rock sky blue then added 3d waves made of clay and painted that too. A spall piece of sea wood was used as a prop for a seagull made of sea glass with a broken clam shell as a wing. We added a beak and eye with paint and a speech bubble with the words “ give us a chip mate!”. She was very happy. She want to know about the lady that makes jewelry on CZcams.

Those larger pieces of black slag would make lovely desk accessories. Paper weights or you could glue a brass name plate and give them as gifts. Probably could market them, too. I am a retired librarian and currently working part-time as a secretary. I can envision so many office accessories made from slag. The big chunks would make nice door stops or even book ends.

Here in S.C. we have lots of Beaches but NO Mudlarking or Sea Glass.
      Our Beaches are white sand.
I would love so much to visit my ansetrial Beaches where the Northern Mudlarkers visit..

This is Mrs. E. K. When my son was young, we would go look for seaglass along the river in Old New Castle, De. in the U.S. The spot where we went has since been "improved" and I am no longer sure that you can go hunt there anymore. My son just turned 20 recently. I now keep several apothecary type jars filled, which I consider my treasure. Memories in a jar.
I only regret not dating our finds to document those memories. The colors are beautiful to me, almost better than any gem. The colors we found most where all variations of aqua, brown, white, and bottle green. Rarely we found cobalt blue in small chips and even more rare was lavender, my most absolute favorite thrill to find of all the colors. Your video inspired me to share and thank you for sharing with all of us your lovely finds.

Hello from Chicago!! We have now blue slag glass from a smelter way up on Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes, that was only in operation from 1870-1885. It’s finally washed hundreds of miles down here. Worth a lot to artists. Broke my heart to see you toss such beautiful pieces. I’m a jeweler and beachcomber- keep all the glass you find, put it in candy jars. We have a plethora of green, clear and brown here. You dropping those cobalt pieces made me crazy mad!
You can buy a flat lapidary machine for quite little money off amazon, which will allow you to flatten the backs and shape the sides very easily.
    You guys are awesome.

Hello Girls, I call Almost Heaven, West Virginia, home. Not far from my house was,Acro Agate Marble Works. They made glass reflectors and lenses for industrial use ,as well as marbles. I spent many happy hours scouring riverbanks for slag glass and marbles with my dad ,then with our 3 daughters.
As much as I love our colorful finds, none of them have the pitted velvety look of your ocean sea glass!
